- This is perhaps one of the most frequently requested dish by my family and friends. Marinating the chicken for a few minutes gives this dish a rich, luscious flavor-the honey caramelizes when baked and the addition of garlic, ginger and green onion gives this dish that Korean aroma. You can simply double the ingredients to increase the volume of this dish.

Spicy Korean Baked Chicken
Ingredients
550g(1.2 lb) chicken thigh
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
3 tablespoons green onion, finely sliced
2 tablespoons gochujang
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon rice wine
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
1. Heat the oven at 200 degrees celcious.
2. chop garlic, thinly slice green onion, and grate ginger.
3. In a bowl, add marinate ingredients and mix well. Set aside for 15 minutes.
4. Pat dry on both sides of chicken.
5. Combine marinate with chicken. Marinade for 10 minutes.
6. Place the chicken skin-side down. Cover the tray with aluminum foil. Poke holes in foil.
7. Bake the chicken for about 30 to 40 minutes. Take the chicken from the oven. Flip and cook for additional 15 minutes, until fully cooked and brown. Check the oven frequently to make sure the chicken doesn’t burn.
8. Take out from the oven. Slice and serve.

Thank you very much for the recipe. Can you marinade the chicken with this marinate overnight in the fridge or only 10 minutes? Thanks again.
Chicken doesn’t need to marinate for too long. However, a bit longer time, like 1 hour, would make this dish even more delicious! : )
I love this I make this for my pack lunch for college ❤
Thank you!
Thank for the idea mm
I prepared this it was delicious and tender. Thank you for the recipe 😀
It’s great to know that you liked it!
I'm making this tonight, but I might add extra chillies
I’ve tried this recipe again recently. Place the chicken on the cooking rack before cooking. The result is even better. Good luck!😊
Thank you. What do you have it on the side?
Any salad will work well! : )
Can I use this recipe for chicken drummets?
Of course, you can. : )
Thanks for the recipe, chef!
Is there any alternative ingredients for wine? I can't consume alcohol :)
I used small amount of rice wine. You may add water instead of wine.
Do you typically use Korean or Japanese soy sauce?
I always use Korean soy sauce. Japanese soy sauce us sweeter so you’ll need to reduce sugar😊
@@JiaChoiChef Thanks for responding. I've tried to educate myself on Korean ganjang. There are many types as you know. Is Sempio 501 a good all purpose one? What brand or type would you recommend?
Love the videos!
Any alternative for rice wine?
You may add water : )
or chicken broth!
@@JiaChoiChef Thanks. I was thinking of grape juice what do you think?
Hi Chef - what kind of soy sauce would you use? Thank you
Hello, Jaycee. I used sampyo dark soy sauce. You may use any dark soy sauce that you can get😉
@@JiaChoiChef Super! That's dinner for today decided 😋 Thank you.
My family asked if we could have this again tomorrow. Even my 1 year old granddaughter loves it. Thanks, Chef 😊
After I removed the foil there’s a lot of water/liquid from chicken in tray. How did yours not?
Did you poke the foil before cooking and then remove the foil so that it gets dry and have good color? If it's still watery, I would use a cooking wire so that it doesn't get watery. Thank you and good luck with you cooking!
@@JiaChoiChef I did poke the holes. But when I removed the foil after the first 40 minutes, before flipping thighs over, it was watery. When you removed yours before flipping them over, there was no water in tray.
@@athusdelima3212 Athus, I will make this dish again and will reply back to you in a few days!
I made this dish today. If you want it drier, put a cooking rack amd add chicken on it. Then it’ll be cooked drier. I hope you try it again.😍😉
“One tablespoon of soy sauce” proceeds to be 3 tablespoons 😂
The level of saltiness can vary from person to person. I hope you liked it! : )
How many pounds of chicken?
1 kilogram is about 2.2 pounds!
What is this dish called in Korean?
고추장 닭구이. Gochujang Dak Gui !
@@JiaChoiChef thank you! I’m making it right now and it smells delicious. Amazing quick, simple and delicious recipe. Thank you! I’m subscribing 😊
