- #kubotabx #tractor Cutting open my tractor hydraulic oil filter to see what's inside as it was 200 Hours Overdue for the service and has been worked extremely hard in the last 600 Hours!! Showing how to cut open an oil filter to inspect what's inside + showing what was found. WATCH TILL END FOR UPDADTES! #oilfilter #inspection
Interesting to see, thank you for taking the time to film this.
Thanks buddy! Hope your doing well, stay safe!
Great video
Thanks Jeff! I like your new UA-cam photo
Awesome seeing the inside of the filter! Thanks Mike.
Thanks Ross, hope you been doing well buddy!
Next time, before wiping off the oil. Fold up some pleats until you have about an inch thick stack then cut it off. Loosely wrap a rag around it, then clamp it in your vice. You'll be amazed how much more oil will come out. Then lay it out, it will be a lot easier to see the metal once the dark oil is out of the filter material. If you shine a light across it, the camera might pick up more sparkles of metal.
Ive cut several oem filters open ( kubota, kawasaki, Mahindra, hydro gear) and they have all been better than the average regular wix filter options for equipment. Now if i can't get a oem filter i look for a higher quality synthetic media filter that will catch more. And i don't extend any oil changes. If anything i probably change too early. Once i hit about 50hrs i usually change engine oils and 100hrs on transmission about 200hrs on trans/hydraulic fluid.
As usual very informative Mike. I would of never guesed over 7' of filter material inside that housing-impressive. Good luck on the forklift.
Thanks buddy, same here! I was amazed at just how long it was.. I thought maybe 4’ at best but over 7’ is insane. As for the forklift I hope to have that video coming out soon as well, thanks for watching!
Yea the fliters with the anti drain back valves like yours keep alot of oil from draining out its great until u want to inspect a filter lol
They sure do! I was surprised just how much fluid it still held inside. Thanks for watching!
Another good video Mike. Mine is due for the 400 hour hydraulic oil and filter change, so maybe I'll pull my filter apart and see if mine looks much different. That forklift is coming along nicely.
Nice Vid Brotha !
Thanks again Mac! I hope your doing well buddy!
@@BiffsEquipment It's going great, I love watching your vids, keep them coming.
Great video. I’d be changing the oil real soon.
That’s not good for the system , for sure.
Have you ever noticed the hydraulics running hot. That will darken the fluid.
Have a good day.
Thanks Noel, I’ll def be changing the fluid again earlier than recommended this time to flush out any other contaminants. As for the oil yes Iv had it screaming hot on multiple occasions as I stated in the intro of my previous video Iv had it so you couldn’t touch the hydraulic cylinders. Thanks for watching buddy!
@@BiffsEquipment ya that’s hot if you can’t touch the cylinders. Any way you could add an extra cooler some where. Just wondering.
My 1975 Case 224 garden tractor gets up to about 130/140 degrees on a hot day while cutting grass. Tractor has 8 gpm pump that drives a hydraulic motor to move the tractor. Factory set up.
Have a great day.
Great video. Should of put a magnet on it.
That’s a good thought, hopefully next time I’ll have the proper filter cutting tool
HEY-here's an idea-use a CUTTING BLADE instead of a grinding blade-DUH
What would it matter? By the time I found a cutting blade and swapped it out I coulda had the thing cut in half already. Both woulda produced sparks and both would still cut that thin metal in half with very little effort. Duh
