My dad was a truck driver and would be gone for a week to ten days at a time. Before he would go, he would hide pennies around the house for us kids to find. We would compete against each other to see who could find the most.
When he got home, we would pull out the pennies and he would count them out and declare a winner.
When he passed away, I was leaving the hospital and there was a penny on the ground right next to my car. It gave me a big smile on a very tough day.
Now, I never ignore any pennies I see on the ground. I always pick them up. I know my dad’s keeping score.

JJ is a tight fold vs that player type. I'd pay it off there since 88, 99, TT and all of the big Ace combos missed the board. 77 is slight possibly but QQ+ are unlikely.
I probably pay it off too for the same reason and also A7 suited is a possibility. But i dont think the fold is bad either. Its early enough and you start with enough chips that in this situation i think either play is fine because its so close for hands you can beat and hands that beat you
I mean this is easy call he can bet worse for value. Very bad fold. Against player type I would four-bet JJ at first place and you got best flop for your hand.
Would 88, 99, TT really play this way? Why would these hands check the flop when they need protection?
QQ+ are way more likely than 88-1010 type holdings. Nobody takes Villain's line as a bluff, it's such a good board to C-bet with 3-bet bluffs. His hand is strongly weighted towards AA exactly.
@@cj7139 why would he not tripple barrell with AA, KK, QQ? Its such an easy board to get value from JJ TT 99 or even AK AQ. You really have to resort to your fundamentals here. She is at the very top of her range. Perhaps AK may be a better call than JJ but she is still at the top of the range. I would fold something like 88,99,TT here but JJ is too high up in my range to consider folding. I also would have 4 bet JJ pre.
I'm not folding JJ b/c there are more pockets that you beat than lose too...

Id probably sigh call it depends a lot on the player it is what it is its not for your tournament life so probably mostly calling

I think folding JJ there vs a spazz is insane, also you’re super top of your range here, if you’re folding this what are you calling with? 7s 5s and quads only (w/A2s being the only combo for that). Maybe occasionally QQ that you don’t 4 bet pre, that’s not many hands..

Excellent Vlog! You two are hilarious! So funny! Lexy my wife is just like you, amazing in so many ways and terrible with directions! So funny! :). I always start on Day 2A of Main because of the slow structure and mountain of chips. GOOD LUCK!!! Probably would have sigh called the $12k with JJ... but better players fold... Totally agree on getting a room in the Horseshoe So convenient for resting and silence and poop! Very helpful when playing WSOP tournaments.

2 years ago in main event I got aces 6 times on day 1 and didn’t get paid once and only had 105,000 at start at day 3 and ended making it to day 6 and finished 99th. This could be a good sign for you bob.

Happy you two played day one A instead of waiting until Day 2. You would be behind so many others who built up stacks on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Plus "guaranteeing that you made it to day 2" prestige is blah since you didn't earn day 2 prestige - it would be more of a weird loophole thing. Enjoy your weekend and good luck rest of the series. Bobby, I can relate. I lost with AA vs AK the first hand of the main last year. I am lucky that AK just smooth called my preflop raise. Flop came K-K-x... checks and i check behind i call turn and river small bets. Lose 2700 total first hand. In my mind it was a win compared to what could have happened

You're pretty capped in the JJ hand.
If a player is spazzy enough I think you have to call. It does feel sketchy when he checks back flop, but these types of players will do this and then attack perceived weakness. Based on the AT hand he will take lines that are unconventional that don't make sense. However, if they haven't 3b very often I dig the fold.
U could have bought in on day 2 and started with $60k in chips.

So glad you both made Day 2. I played 1C and made it as well. Bagged 86,700. My 1st Main so making day 2 feels great, even though there are 10 more 12 1/2 hour days ahead to try to do well in. Also, with the JJ fold, this being Day 1 of the Main event is a big factor in this situation and your decision to fold. With such a long structure and the biggest event of the year, sometimes it's best to just pick a better spot. As you said in the beginning, Play it safe, take it slow. On to day 2 !
