    Problem with the ducks is that Disney cannot control the contents. Random people can hide ducks with questionable or illegal contents, and they could be used for sales of illegal items.

    I am not surprised. On my EBPC cruise this past December, there were people filing official complaints that their child hadn't found a duck. It was absolutely draining.
    The next thing that will go is the FE gift exchanges. We had 2 families disembarked because their tween/teenagers were stealing. So many other families reported not getting their items as well.
    Disney won't tolerate being held accountable for passenger run events and I don't blame them.

    If anyone is thinking that the duck hiding/finding activity is only a positive/fun activity, they haven't spent any time thinking about the ways in which the hiding/finding process could go horribly wrong. There are instances I can imagine which would pose real risks to cruisers....especially little cruisers....and there would be liability issues if this were something Disney didn't have a policy against or just turned a blind eye to.

      A little kid could decide to hide one somewhere dangerouse bc they are focused on finding a good hiding place. I can see this is possible, but not more possible than s little kid being in the same dangerous place for a non duck related reason. Are there a rash of these incidents on other lines? And yes there are lots of kids on most cruiselines.

      along that train of thought FE need to go sadly, some od the toys, trinkets could have small parts or lead and if a kid sucks on it, and then any candy that is home made could have food that another kid/ adult algetic too . not trying ot be devil advocate as this is the truth, a small town neat whe5re i live had a Saturday trick or treat and go store to store in costume and after an "issue" ( like one i described they no longer do that. On parades they use to throw candy to all but again they don't do that in my town for similar reasons.

      @@joykinser3444 When you think of the number of cruises going non-stop and the number of people on them who knows how many incidences or even close calls have happened on all cruise lines. With Disney in particular having considerably more kids on each cruise it makes sense for them to have an abundance of caution. There are already so many fun and safe things for everyone to do that people don't need to make up their own thing. The adults are the ones making this a bigger thing than it needs to be.

    Can somebody please explain the reasons why this is not a good idea to have cruise ducks? What could possibly be bad about this. It is a cruise passenger led event. People should know this before crying to guest services that their kid never found one on something Disney is not at all involved in. People can swallow pins too. Should we ban pin trading?

    • @KaZeyBear

      There have been reports of children throwing them overboard, there has been property damage to disneys stuff, people have been hiding them in staff only areas, hiding them in potentally dangerous places like what happens when a duck ends up in the plumbing or wedged between a lever that lets a lifeboat down?

    • @joykinser3444
      @joykinser3444 5 місяців тому +1

      I could see if people were hiding these in places that are not safe, which would probably happen more than zero times, but I have never seen this, that could be bad. If there were so many ducks that is distracted from the decor, that could be a problem, but one that doesn't currently exist. And most likely, if they are only rehid and never collected on the last day, then they are unnecessary extra work for cast members to have to clean up. I don't know if that is an issue. I honestly think Disney sees this on other lines and it's just Disney snobbery. I live Disney and will only sail with them, but they pride themselves as being a luxury line and cheap rubber ducks don't align with that. They also like cinergy throughout the entire corporation. These ducks aren't exclusively Disney so they don't align with the watch Disney, buy Disney, stay Disney, do Disney concept. These are my guesses.

    • @bonnielovely
      @bonnielovely 5 місяців тому

      rubber toys hold a lot of mold, it's annoying for cast members to pick up and find, and it also encourages people (mostly children) to get under/into dangerous spaces to try to "hide" ducks

    • @joykinser3444
      @joykinser3444 5 місяців тому

      @@bonnielovelythis is a common practice on other ships so I honestly don't think it is about mold or safety. It could be, but that sounds like the most valid reason, not neccisarily the one driving the choice. I think those who dislike them are making a big deal over small ducks and those who are really upset about it are too. It was a fun thing that was not dangerous or distracting on either sailing I have done, but there is also so much to do on a Disney ship this shouldn't be a deal breaker.
