I use this in my living room hooked up to a 20lb tank. Keeps it nice on medium when it's really cold out. My house is old with old drafty windows, so air is getting in. A leak detector & a CO2 detector is also used. Been using this way for 6 years now.
That’s great to hear. I’m always so reluctant to use it indoors. Thx for watching
They are great heaters. I bought a double wood stove fan for it. And also if you’re going to run a 20 pound propane tank. You need to make sure you buy the hose that has the regulator on it so you don’t have to buy the filter. It’s like a $50 hose 12 foot long with a regulator on it works great. With a quick connect on the left side of the unit.
You. Still need to add the filter to keep the oil from the hoes.plugging up the heater read about it on more you tube videos and ask questions
You should run both a low pressure regulator and a filter just to be safe, filters cost 12 bucks. No reason to cheap out there imo
Plus that way you can run any size tank you want
@@alexanderwebb680 I’m no expert on propane but the Mr.Heater website says NOT to run a regulator hose on this because it will over pressurize the system because it already has a built in regulator.
The sticker shown in the tank compartment next to the BUILT IN REGULATOR, shows hose and Filter part numbers. The part numbers for the hoes are the hoses without the regulator and it gives you the part number of the filter to use. So according to this, use the hose without the regulator and yes, use a filter.
Sticker is seen at the 1:42 mark
if you buy a hose with a regulator you can still add the filter? like, there'll be room for it?
Heats up my 2 car garage pretty quickly.
I’ve hade mine for years
I used mine jobs sites for houses or additions with no heat .
Turn on for a few minutes warm my hands when they get hot then I turn it off get back to work.
Great video thanks 😊
Thank you so much for sharing!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
I have the same unit, bought it 15 or so years ago and tested it for 15 min at that time.
Had to use it last week, ran out of fuel, bought replacement 1lb bottles at WalMart and they wouldn't fit, threads were different. What do I do???
Strange, maybe check another store and see if there bottles are different. Other than that I’m not sure what option you have. I wouldn’t thing that thread would have changed. I still have gas stoves from ages ago that still work. Must be the bottle
Great reviews. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Did you test it with the hose already? I'm wondering... you need two bottles for high, but there's also only one hose. So how does it work with the hose?
You only need one bottle for high, not two
Great video.. Quick question... When i use it do i take the propane canister off when im done with it even if it has more propane in it??
I usually don't because I keep mine in the shed. but if yours is indoors you might want to disconnect it to be safe
@@hammerandhome thanks replying! I wasnt sure that if i removed it it would spray everywhere etc ... I've never dealt with propane before. Got this as a gift so im trying it out. It doesn't seem to tell you how much propane you have used like gas gauge or nothing... Can you tell how much you are using or have used???
@@crappiesniper I’ve never timed it. But it does last around 5 hr I think. Also depends on what setting you are using.
Get the 20 pound hose you will save a ton of cash. And run like 4 5 days on low great in power outage. Hoss like 20. Us
I got the following from another video:
Using two 1# tanks: (Big Buddy)
Low. 10.4 hrs
Medium. 4.8 hrs
High. 2.4 hours
Using a 20# tank:
Low. 81 hrs
Medium. 36 hrs
High. 18 hrs
I have a mr buddy to heat my 550 sq ft garage but i think im upgrading to this big buddy to heat it a little more, does usibg the fan make much of a difference?
the fan makes a difference yes i saw reviews saying it doesn't before i got mine but then i found out that it does and realized the ones who said it didn't make a difference were the ones who are butt hurt about theirs not having a fan because a lot of these were sold without the fan but the company has started adding the fan again with the newer models
Do i need 2 hose kits to power both panels?
No. Either side will operate both burners. You can use the little green cans of propane, or the large tank and a hose style adapter.
Personally. From his video, I don't think he's used it very much. You have to wait for it to heat one panel. When you switch to the second setting, it Heats that one panel hotter. When you switch to the third setting it heats the second panel. You do not have to have both propane tanks in the unit to make that work!
That’s true you don’t need both tanks but the manufacturer suggests that you do.
i'm gonna test this today. but by all accounts you NEED to have 2 1b propane tanks for both sides to light or one 20lb tank will light both sides
I think my wife has some "D" batteries somewhere...can't think why she has them though !!!
🤔
Why does it smell like smoked salmon in here?🤔
How does the striker work? Is there a battery that operates It? I just took mine out of the box and I haven't got it to light yet. Can anyone help me? Thanks
According to the instruction manual you need to install one AAA battery for electronic ignition operation
Great for power outages. The newer big buddy has no fan.. I use mine in doors all winter . But old house so no air issues just plenty coming through windows closed and very leaky doors😱😂 I can run 2 with no issues.😂 You need desil heater the Chinese ones cheep.for your trailers.
Ps you can modify it to work on power pack. Mine is modified fan runs a long time on a 10000 mah pack.
Now does anyone have a video when the pilot goes out when you trying to light the grid
At 3:55 you had it on high and both pads lit
I bought a new mr heater bigbuddy the other day brand new I want it for fall and winter camping and for my house in a power outage my sister has both my generators for her oxygen so how do you vent these In the house is a window opened up a crack enough to go to sleep if the heater is away from everything so no fire starts I thought they had an auto low oxygen cut off switch built in to them and the new models dont have the fans they stopped making the fans in 2019
Doesn’t it need a aaa battery for the pilot?
YES! i regrettably returned the beautiful green one thinking it didn't work never realizing till AFTER i returned it that the pilot needs a aaa battery that goes under the heater. mr heater neglectfully makes NO mention of this
Lil off on description, when I start mine you turn know to first notch, and hold 15 sec, turn back to off, then 2nd time pilot will light and hold 15 sec, then your go to go,as long as pilot stays on
You forgot to mention to buy a filter if you're using the hose there is a part number for it fuel filter which I ordered from Home hardware in Canada. f27 3699
very true, Thank you
Mr. Heater Buddy Series Hose Assembly - 10-ft., Model# F273704 doesn't require a filter. Most other hoses have some oil in their construction to make them more pliable which leaches into the heater and clogs up the pilot.
I saw these sold at my local Sam's today. Next to it was a 4 pack of 1 lb coleman bottles. OK, seeing the fuel consumption on the heater box, and the price of the 4 pack, On HIGH, this heater will cost $6/hour to operate. Today's date 1/14/23
But the tank
People are using a fan on it like you sit on a woodstove.
Really wish they would have went aa batteries
That would have been nice. Who has D’s anymore.
By the way ,the new version doesn't have the fan option ,and the price is still the same...sneaky move !!!
that's not cool! thanks for the info
Depends on the state its sold in. I just bought one in ohio yesterday at walmart that has the fan.
@@rodneylanders2609 ...I'm right by belpre...so it's a hop skip and a jump. However ,you may simply have landed your hands on some old stock.
@@HELLHAMMERHANDHIX date code on the box is march 2020..and a great price at129.00 they had a few more i might buy another this thing worked great in my 2 car garage . The temp went from 42 to 64 in my garage on medium. Now im able to smoke cigars in the wintertime.
@@HELLHAMMERHANDHIX also ive noticed on mr heater website they show at least 3 different models ...some say Massachusetts version and 2 California versions...i bet those models are slightly different in some ways.
You failed dewalt. They have the same version with 20v battery system and LED lights built in.... unless this is old. Return it and get dewalt!
Check Amazon, Is it less expensive too? Thanks for your tip.
YOU CAN RUN ON HIGH WITH ONLY ONE 1LBS BOTTLE
You don't need 2 bottles for high heat. 1 1lb bottle is gonna last you
you DO need 2 bottles for high to work OR 1 big tank will make both sides work
@@fallback8314 You actually don't. Mine runs on high on ONE BOTTLE 1LB
Garbage. Brand new out of box, it won’t light. No igniter. Cycled two batteries (new). No thanks.
So I guess DeWalt likes this guy?
These heaters stink like hell. Buy a camco wave series heater instead.
I rather be smelly than froze to death 😬
