Chain orientation while stretching a plastic bag

In this video I stretch a plastic shopping bag! So exciting! Really, though, it is quite interesting and I discuss the molecular orientation that is occuring in the deformed polymer.

any related references can explain what is the definition of molecular orientation??

it just means the "direction that molecules are facing" pretty much... in this case it's also the direction in which they're being aligned with each other. It helps to know that the actual molecules of polymers are are essentially just long chains or strings, like spaghetti, or hair. Stretching the plastic is like combing hair, so it's nice and straight.
