To answer the question why this deck is not popular. I think cookies are to hard to play, I watch many UA-camrs and usually can predict optimal play. But this deck has so many nuances... Respect to the inventor and pilot :D
Tbh, the deck seems kinda lame honestly lol. Baby looking wurmlet. Silly cookie. 'making your useless map token big' is not very exciting. That was my thought when I was getting into things and evaluating decks.
@@LyubenV Who cares if the play style is exciting or if the cards aesthetically look silly, the deck's demonstrated that it can perform at a top level It's also really weird that you call it lame and not very exciting when it has some of the least straightforward decision trees out of all the decks currently in the format lmao Like it's okay that you're not a good enough player to pilot it optimally, you can just admit it 😌 You don't need to come up with excuses like "it's a lame deck because it has baby wurmlets and silly cookies"
@@TehFoamyhe sounds like a boros player or azorius control player. This deck actually presents you situations where you need to make more decision than just play the same "combo" over and over.
@@AesirOdinn I know right, someone in the discord saw the "making your useless map token big is not very exciting" comment and was like "OK buddy how about sacrificing a gingerbrute, exiling it with cauldron, putting the counter on the big useless token, and making it unblockable for an out-of-nowhere win"
I love that this deck will be basically unaffected by the coming rotation, we only lose Boseiju, Otawara, and Spell Pierce, so the deck will work basically the same, albeit with a bit less interaction, maybe sideboarding some more removal is enough.
I made this deck in real life, I love this deck and using it through good and bad has made me a great player so many decisions I love it the versatility has really set this apart from your typical I play big spell shenanigans well done
I was just wondering at 26:45 if you could have won by Tidebinding the Splunking. Cuz opponent would have 2 mana max and can't cast the Chrome Shark, plus you would have 3 more power on board, threatening lethal if he didn't have a removal.
So I saw cookies and immediately clicked. I’m main decking mono blue tempo atm and so far it booted me up to diamond 1 from platinum 3. I’m actually excited to try this build.
Really loving the deck, just crafted it! Not the easiest to pilot but for sure worth learning. Any chance someone can elaborate on "untapped gives you about the worst results you can get." I thought untapped was legit 😅 Where should I go for data?
cookies isn't bad but you really can't deny the power of esper, Raffine being able to hand fix so easily, just makes it so those flood/screw hands ya get with cookies don't exist. Once rotations hits though i'm sure cookies with surge up in popularity, no more emp, no more memory deluge, no more wedding announcement.
I've opted tough cookie out for faerie mastermind because of the meta. Esper is probably the worst matchup. All the top decks give this deck a lot of trouble. The cauldron route seems incredibly ineffective. Lost jitte on the other hand with a hand of disruption that's better. Also cosmic hunger versus hard hitting question. I prefer the instant speed just because of the reality that this deck dies to cut down alot.
I find that a combination of Schooner, Siren, Mirrex, and Restless Vinestalk help with screw and flood respectively. Or in general, they make the deck more consistent, which is why it feels powerful (to me at least). And in general, it feels like the cards offer enough mana sinks (Surge Engine, Tough Cookie..., random map tokens, etc)... The games that suck the most are keeping a suspicious 2 land hand and not drawing up to 3. Esper would have the same issue with those hands (but maybe it runs more lands).
I ordered my Hard-Hitting Questions in the mail almost 3 weeks ago and they still haven't shown up >:c They would have really helped me in my match against Esper Midrange too
It's for sure underplayed. Judging by my own history with it, I assume some people just aren't experienced enough to pilot it. Maybe I'll give it another shot come rotation
I just crafted this and am getting my ass handed to me. Does this deck have any plan against mono red or black midrange decks? Those are the only thing on ladder currently and I am really struggling to play when I have no way to deal with swiftspear or am getting drowned in card advantage while having no draw of our own
Mono red can sometimes just mono red you, but the main deck has a decent amount of built-in life gain between the Wurmlets and the cookies. It's mostly a matter of recognizing when to race, when to commit more to the board, when to hold back some blockers and/or leave up Food, etc. The matchup also gets better post-board too, because we get things like Haywire Mite which can chump block, gain life, and hit things like unflipped Kumanos (which can mean the difference between stabilizing and dying). If you're playing in Bo1, though, then Ash likes to run a slightly tweaked list with a maindecked Haywire Mite or two in order to improve the mono red matchup. The deck doesn't have a lot of card draw, but it does have the potential to dig to relevant spells with all the exploring you'll be doing with Schooners and Map tokens. The trick is knowing when to not overcommit to the board, so you can rebuild after something like a board wipe. I've definitely made the mistake of playing out all the creatures in my hand just because I could, only to be hit by Sunfall or Gix's Command and left with a dead hand 😅
I won my rcq with it. Im qued up for dallas and am leaning towards playing it there. But the match up against the meta is making me question it. Esper, temur, 4cc legends, boros convoke, u/w control. They all require a very discplined approach. Knowing when to hold back and also apply pressure. Ive been leaning towards more jitte less agatha. Because jitte seems to compliment the deck better once its up and going. That said, cosmic hunger over hard hitting question. Faerie master mind over tough cookie , maybe even thirst for knowledge to dig for an answer in the late game. Im also really unsure about schooner. Cryptic coat seems more applicable because of temp lock. Even mainboard haywire mite for all the virtues, bindings, wedding announcements, spelunkings. Frees up sideboard space i think. I believe soul guide and stone brain are necessary too. Temur is incredibly resilient. 3 tidebinder is mandatory. You can tidebind their ill timed explosions too!
I'd be curious what list you settled on. Also didn't know you can tidebind Ill Timed Explosion... crazy. I guess it's a trigger after the discard :) Schooner is like a bit of glue that (imo) you don't realize until it's gone. It helps your 2 land keeps not suck so much. It's a bit of extra resilience to the non-artifact board wipes (depop, sunfall, deadly cover up). The explore also synergizes with Soul Cauldron, cuz in some matchups, it's the only way you get stuff into the graveyard (looking at UW control...). Were you able to remove it? I actually have 2x Cryptic Coat in the sideboard (I think instead of a Soul Guide Lantern and a 3rd copy of Repulsive Mutation...), but I feel like it's a grindy card rather than an aggro card. So I don't end up playing it much... Is it working for you? In what match-ups? Do you run Tidebinder in the main? > Even mainboard haywire mite for all the virtues, bindings, wedding announcements, spelunkings. The neat thing about this is even a single mite can help out a bunch in a matchup with (a) Soul Cauldron or (b) hitting the one enchantment that's winning the game for opp.
Where did you come up with the idea for this deck? It is such a cool idea lol. I think you might have influenced the wizards staff with it because they're coming out with all kinds of artifact creature support lately
Ive played it some in BO1 and find mono red and convoke to be tough matchups. I win sometimes. It might be a 50/50 but without sideboards it's hard to adjust to those matchups imo. Convoke in particular can easily chump many of your threats even if they're not pounding your face in. Even if you have some unblockable stuff going on, it's just hard to adequately race that deck.
dunno, there is maybe 40 million mtg players in the world. it is very tiny chance that some streamer content is source of a deck people play.. reasonable to say that there is a chance that canadian player would have heard her name or seen a video, but far to assume beyond that. so many cgb copyrighted decks out there.. just be real
Nah bruh, she literally invented this deck. She's been playing it since LCI first came out in November. You wouldn't say "it's a very tiny chance that Sol Malka is the source of The Rock" 🤣 Not to mention that with the exception of maybe 3-4 cards, Noah Michaud's 75 is literally 1:1 the exact same list as this one lmao
Do you usually watch standard? The only other decks are control with only removal, counters and mill, prowess/convoke/mono red aggro, midrange and ramp. There is no deck with better gameplay, unless you enjoy watching control mages or aggro players being no fun police.
Played you version of Simic Cookies (V3) today at store championships and am now store champion 😅 thanks for the Vengevine 😂❤
🫡 proud of you

I have 10 different "top tier" standard decks built right now and by far the most fun is Cookies. Thankfully it will survive the upcoming rotation!

I need this I sign off
I love this deck, I won our store championship with it last Friday!

Always love this deck and what a treat that the first game is against Jim Davis!

Lol, I just had someone go 4-0 at my LGS for the Standard Championship beating out two different doman matchups. This deck slappps
Domain isn't so bad. Especially if you run stone brain in the board for atraxa.
Yo the pro scene is gonna be straight up _diabetic_ after rotation 🍪🍪🍪

is there a best of 1 version? any tips on what to cut and what is a must include?
