@@jdkustom I also have a 2006 . Curly Claro walnut, curly maple binding, ebony fret board. I changed the pickup system to a baggs HI-FI though. Didn't like the original system.
Despite having heard the ES2 through UA-cam, I was still skeptical until I got it in the studio. I think it sounds really good and I slightly prefer it to my former favorite: the K&K Pure Mini. After learning about Antoine Dufour's recording set-up and knowing how other fingerstyle players blend the pickup in with their microphone recordings, I see a lot of potential using the ES2 for this exact use case.
Hi I am going to have a Taylor 214ce shipped to me. But I am inexperienced as to how to adjust the piezo pickups with that wrench. I will be thankful if you could provide me an insight as to what happens when you turn the wrench in the respective direction. Great vid!
Nice guitar that, you will really love the 214ce! To best adjust a Taylor ES2 piezo pickup, use a small Allen wrench to gently turn the tiny screws on each pickup element, making small adjustments to the pressure applied to the saddle, allowing you to fine-tune the volume balance between each string pair (E/A, D/G, B/E) while plugged in and monitoring the sound output; always adjust in small increments to avoid over-tightening. Thanks for watching and stay posted for more!
A question......is the pickup assemply simply pushed into place from inside the guitar and held with just pressure or do you glue the piece in? Thanks! Nice video showing the custom jigs!
That is a great question. The pickup assembly is actually held in with pressure. When the saddle is in place and the guitar is in tension, the adjustment screws are tightened accordingly in order to balance the volume across the strings and this is enough to hold the system in place. This is why it is so important to loosen the pickup if you are removing the saddle as just shoving it back in after any sort of setup work on the saddle will damage the piezo. Thanks for watching and stay posted for more!
Just make sure the piezo is not in tension and it will slide right out. Ps. If it is in tension and the saddle is either removed or inserted by force it will damage the piezo... So only tension the piezo when the guitar has strings and in tune. Thank you for watching 😎
Thanks so much for the compliment Brendan! That is a great analogy, it is quite daunting especially because the ebony is so brittle! But thank God the doc gets desensitized to giving injections and has a steady hand haha! Stay posted for more and thank you so much for your support 🙂
Is there a place where you can get those jigs to install an ES2 pickup by yourself? Also do you think it would be possible to install an ES2 on a guitar other than a Taylor?
You must be Gold accredited with Taylor to get those, also they are definitely not keen on those systems being on instruments other than Taylor guitars.
True craftsman, well done! Thinking of getting mine done professionally where I bought it. I have the older ES1 system in mine. No problems with it but maybe ES2 would be better....
Thank you so much for your awesome compliment 😎 Te new system is very reliable, less components therefore less to go wrong... The adjustment of pressure on the transducer is a really nice feature. Both systems are great though, typically they are upgraded when the old system starts giving issues.
Not at all, this es2 system is dead quiet and reliable, less components in comparison to older versions has made a world of difference! Taylor has also removed the battery pack fuse which was a common source of humming when blown. Thank you so much for watching, stay posted for more!
What if your Es1 system is blown? Es1 parts are discontinued... Would you not want to repair it? Would you add an LR baggs system and leave the 3 knobs there as a non functional part? I am curious to know what you think... Thanks for watching and for your support.
It really is a matter of opinion, everyone has their own taste I guess and that is what makes music so interesting and beautiful! One thing for sure is if Taylor chooses it then it must be good, especially with all the thought and research that goes towards this powerful and incredible brand! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more😀
They are great systems, I agree. The only issue, in my opinion, is having three control knobs left behind from the old system as a non functional part if using another type of 3rd party system...
They are both great, especially the ES1.2 with the updated board and 9v battery pack! The Es2 is so reliable though, less components equals less trouble (board, harness, pickup and battery pack).
I junked the system and put in a k&k that sounds far better than the ES1 on my 814ce. No more of their crappy electronics. It was replaced once under warranty. Why would I pay for an upgrade? Much better options than the factory design.
I acquired a 2006 414e and had the ES2 done. Money well spent.
You can't go wrong with a 4 series Taylor guitar! I'm sure it sounds absolutely incredible considering its age, The wood must have matured so nicely!
@@jdkustomabsolutely agree! I have an 816ce BE, 714e, 414ce, and a 114ce....
I think the 414ce may sound the best???

ES-2 is great update but i would recomend to anyone having it, to pay little extra and install TaylorSense, game changer for guitar lovers
The TaylorSense is absolutely awesome !
The TaylorSense is absolutely awesome !
Very impressive. I have a Taylor 317e with the ES2 system
Thanks so much for your compliment! Taylors are absolutely incredible guitars, you will enjoy it forever, that's for sure!
Ending with Satellite was beautiful!
Thank you so much!

Thank you for your feedback, I agree with you, it really is a great system, when set right it performs really well!

Hey, how difficult is it to remove the ES2 from the bridge? Need to remove bridge to do a belly repair

Great job, I'm sure like a Parent who has to hold their child while getting an injection, watching you drill into the guitar still hurts :)

just curious how much parts and labour come to?
Where the heck did you get those router templates?
From the Taylor Factory! They are so good at designing tools, not just guitars!
Hi.. I'm planning to install ES2 on my Taylor.. Just wondering if ES1.2 & ES1.3 jack output (84006) suitable for the ES2 system?
It will definitely work, just bridge the fuse with a staple, and you are good to go!

An ES-2 is not an upgrade. Absolutely hate mine and everyone I know who has an older Taylor with a Fishman loves those.

Better just replace it with GoAcoustic or LRBaggs
