    I have Prostate Cancer. I had Gleason 7, on the margins, had the little bastar taken out Aug. 3rd. Well, all 3 month Blood works since the surgery my PSA tripled every 3 months from .022 to .054 to .213 and this one today was flat lined about at .223. The only thing that changed is my Keto Metabolic Diet with intermitted fasting. I can right now only get to two days of fasting. I take Mebendazole 500mg all turned into powder daily. My weight has gone from 160 to 146. I had a broad BWork done too. It was that of a 35 year old and I am now 71. I am very strict on carbs NOT going in my mouth. I have ordered DON too and will do low doses of it in the Press Pulse Prof Seyfried has described. Thank you my hero Prof. Seyfried. I got the results of my CT/PSMA Pet Scan too. There was no cancer anywhere except one iddy biddy tiny lesion in one spot on my bones. We will follow it now.

    Dr Perlmutter, this was so fabulous to listen to ( my third time in three years as a loved one goes through cancer and chemo). I thank you, both, so very much! An Incredible, profound and informative discussion! Makes me sad for our loved one that never wanted to change her diet since diagnosis to a keto and fasting protocol. It does however, inspire us to continue that lifestyle for ourselves to stay healthy. Thank you for all the amazing content you make the time to share with everyone! So appreciated

    TS explains this topic like no other. We recently lost a young family member, not to the cancer which had almost entirely resolved through diet we had him on but to the over use of chemo drugs (which were not working anyway) but it destroyed his platelets causing a catastrophic bleed in his brain.

    I really like Dr Perlmutter, he is wise, not just educated and intelligent. He is down to earth and helpful. I love listening to Dr Seyfried, same with him. He gives me hope, although I am afraid I am going to lose my mother soon to cancer. As she doesn't believe in what Dr Seyfried talks about, and she has been butchered by cancer treatments. It is so sad.

    Love this video! Although the confusing part to me is how he mentioned that all organisms underwent aerobic fermentation before oxygen came into the picture 2.5 billion years ago. If that’s the case, how is that possible because I thought the very meaning of “aerobic” is in the presence of oxygen, whereas anaerobic is not in the presence of oxygen. Many thanks to someone who can explain it to this guy!

    My dad died while having pancreatic cancer, but it had not spread at the time of his death. It seems he died from cachexia. So how would you battle cachexia on a ketogenic diet? I've been on a ketogenic diet for a short period of death and the weight loss was significant. My uncle is battling lung cancer now. I want to help him.

      Truth about cancer global quest talks ou through many different experts to visit and treatmenrs they offer some even mention the success rates. Like chemo it's very expensive but most patients tend to open gofundme page. Main things is to follow a mucus free diet stop all meat starch sugar ... and have as raw veg diet as best you can and 8oz juice every few hours at least 4 x day. Colonic and enamas every couple of days
      I would post all clinics and some of their treatmenrs but don't have them at hand just yet . Wish u all the best

    I had a 10 1/2 cm meningioma brain tumor. 18 years ago was my last surgery a 20 hour surgery at brigham and women's hospital in Boston and a 12 hour surgery right before that at Fradert Memorial Hospital in milwaukee my optical nerve was cut after my surgery in Boston so I now have Hemianosia and Alexia without Agraphia. My tumor is still there as far as I can see but not growing according to my scans. The parts that are left are raptor on my brainstem and I had a special radiation done after my surgery in Boston. I've been using A ketogenic diet and modified ketogenic diet along with intermittent fasting. I'm in good health otherwise I do you periodic HIIT training and I live on the ocean and Carolina Beach does the ketogenic diet work for non-cancerous tumors? I also just found out my dad has the same type of tumor now and he'll be 70 this year and he's in great shape but he said he's not gonna do anything about his tumor but just watch it. So I guess that's why I was asking if this diet can help? I will definitely be in the sun as much as possible, get grounded as much as possible in the ocean sand maybe try the blue blocking lenses when inside.

    Aging cannot be a simple matter of "the Second Law of Thermodynamics." The laws of thermodynamics apply equally well to sperm and egg cells. Why is it that thirty year old parents can have a baby whose cells are NOT thirty years old (or three billion years old)? If it were a simple matter of the 2nd Law, baby cells would be just as old and decrepit as their parents' cells.

    Please could you comment? As an Endometrial Cancer Survivor, I am considering having Bulkamid bulking injections to support my urethra due to stress incontinence, a common women's complaint. The bulking material is made of polyacrylamide. As you know, acrylamide is a known carcinagen, but a Poison Control Pharmacist told me that when combined to become polyacrylamide, it should then be safe. Regardless, I beleive, it would still mean a form of plastic being placed inside my body, in very close location to where cancer cells developed my uterus, which was surgically removed. Would you advise me to just 'bite the bullet' and continue to deal with something that greatly impacts one's quality of life, or, is it safe to say, my risk of cancer recurrence, is unlikely to be increased if I go ahead with the proposed treatment? My present recurrence risk is 4% according to my Oncologist. I eat plant based whole foods and wild salmon, leaning towards Paleo. To what extent can the toxidity levels of foreign materials placed inside our bodies, be considered accurate by the Scientific Community? Staying alive is obviously, an even greater priority, than having dry britches! ; - )

    I ask the following questions not as a way to criticize, but because I am generally interested and indeed optimistic.
    The questions I have are: 1) if it's the sugar, why isn't there MORE cancer? And 2) if it's the sugar, how come some people diagnosed with stage 2 or 3 die with rather than from their cancer (because surely not everyone stops eating sugar after a diagnosis). Also, I would point out that I believe Seyfried maintains that the cancer has a mitochondrial defect that prevents it from using the abundant oxygen. Not everyone believes this.

    I am writing 6 years after this video. It seems, as of this time, that actually, cancer cells CAN feed on ketones.
    There had been this big excitement that hey, maybe we’ve figured out how to specifically target cancer cells: We’ll put the body into ketosis, so the body cells will continue but the cancer cells will starve, hey Nobel Prize time! Then it turned out that cancer cells were not so easily targeted and killed. They’re part of the body after all.
    Bummer.
    I don’t know what is the latest news on this. Just wanted to mention that there have been a lot of developments since this video was made 6 years ago.

    • @abhishekbhardwaj101
      @abhishekbhardwaj101 7 років тому +2

      Dear Chuck Kolb, if you following ketosis than you can go for intermittent fasting. The fasting should be done til you are comfortable. If you feel hungry then please eat food. Keeping body hungry will trigger starvation mode in your body. That means what ever you will eat next will be converted to fat. I hope it helps.

    • @VSS1
      @VSS1 7 років тому +7

      Abhishek Bhardwaj With all due respect this "starvation mode" doesn't really exist. The suggestion is the day or two after fasting keep your carbs very low and your protein low. If you gorge on carbs after fasting it's not the best idea. A good therapeutic fast is 3-5 days of water only, you will need some salt during this period.

    • @abhishekbhardwaj101
      @abhishekbhardwaj101 7 років тому +2

      I agree with you. Starvation mode is hit on carb adapted state. Since, most people follow that I assume that same. I am sorry for that. Following keto diet helps in intermittent fasting a lot.

    • @VSS1
      @VSS1 7 років тому +2

      I think we are both in agreement. Yes i find keto helps a lot too, my suspicion is that when fasting the biggest physiological and physiological driver is lack of blood sugar and when in keto this doesn't really bother you as much.

    • @carrollhoagland1053

      Chuck, look up Dr. Longo and Dr. Panda ... that will give more info, essentially circadian clocks are real and now it is shown that each organ also has its own clock ...
      We turn on different sets of genes, active day time digestion and movement vs. repair and maintenance, i.e. night time ... interfering with that is issue ...
      Most are not recommending long term fasting, but 15 hours is shown to be optimal ... then there is the starvation gene reaction issue and telomeres ...
