The 6 hour GPS stat is WITH music on, it is about 3 times longer without music playing. For those finding this video recently, a lot of the stated differences in functionality no longer hold true with firmware updates that have been delivered.
@@neilvandeven2194 To keep things simple: If you want a general fitness tracker with a wide range of activity profiles, get the VA4. If running is a core part of your routine and you want more useful insights from your data at the expense of having a narrower range of activity profiles, get the FR245.
Thanks for the review! you've told to check the description to learn about how to track hiking but I can't find anything, I wonder if you have that info anywhere? Thanks again!
Thanks for the comparison but I think you neglected the core difference which is the Suggested Workouts in the 245 and the Recovery Time in the 245 that is not available on the VA4.
Thanks for the video. Does the forerunner 245 have training status/ load / effect metrics for body weight / gym based / crossfit exercises. I read it's there for running only. Correct me if I am wrong.
Nice review. I just got the Vivoactive 4 and like it. Curious, what watch face is that. I like the interface of it. Would appreciate the info. Thanks!!
@@GaugingGadgets Thank you for the quick reply. +1 subscriber to your channel for your video and help. Would you happen to know why the weather data will not show up on the watch faces? Thanks!
It would be really cool to see the in app differences of these two! I would totally geek out to a video showing the user interface and stats each of these watches give. Is there a difference in the data the 245 gives over the VA4? Does the 245 tell you how you can improve your running as well as optimal recovery stats that the VA4 does not? Or do both give the same data? Would love to know if there is a difference! Cheers!!
I am into adventure racing so it’s a mix of all sports including running, at the moment I use Strava and I’m wondering if it’s worth getting the vivoactive 4 because Strava does enough for me running wise I also run most days so I’m not to sure what to get
I do gym workouts, walking, hiking and will be getting into mountain biking. Which would you recommend out of these or is there another one that would work best? Thanks
If you are in to running specific stats and data I would recommend the 245. It seems you are looking for a more general sports watch and I think the Vivoactive is better at that.
Oh yeah if the 945 is in your price range I would definitely go for that. It's an awesome watch! I tested a Polar watch once and think they are way behind Garmin. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you for the Video! Would like to know if I can save offline music from Amazon music app on vivo active 4, similar to forerunner 245 music (I do understand that there is storage on Vivoactive 4 for copying music from your laptop). But my question is specific to offline music from Amazon or spotify.
I am looking for a garmin watch for hiking and good gps can track my trail. I don't necessarily use the garmin map during the trail, but just would like to have all my trails track extracted in my computer. I am a beginner, do this for fun. And also want to record my gym, daily exercise, tennis etc. Which garmin would you suggest? Thanks
How long will last the battery life?! If i use it for indoor swim training 3 times in a week? Also if i take my phone with me while walking, will it use my phone gps or it's personal gps for tracking distance i have walked? Thanks in advance Actually i think of getting the 40mm version!
I know your comment was posted long ago and you don't need an answer anymore but for other readers who might be wondering: the watch uses only its own GPS. I would appreciate if it would use phone GPS if the phone is connected because it would save battery life on the watch but it uses its own GPS exclusively. That's okay, though. Not a deal breaker for me.
I’m still having a hard time deciding between these. Would it be smarter to go for a fenix, or maybe the 945? Would either of those have the best of both worlds?

wich differences are workt out bij the updates please?

If you don't care about Music or the Garmin web platform, look at Corros Pace 2.
Nice video! However, notice that the Running Dynamics data can only be used if you pair the 245 with an external pod or HR strap.

Very nice review ! Definitely goin to buy forerunner as I specifically want a watch for running purpose solely

Is that one of the preloaded watch faces?
I'm going from the 235 to the Vivoactive 4S. Thanks for the review!
That's exactly the position I'm in, I have a FR 235 and thinking of switching to vivoactive 4! Not sure what to do though............
Sarah Rank , how is your vivoactive 4s?

Gauging Gadgets thanks, but what do you think about something like the 945 or maybe something from Polar?
I think I’d like buttons over a touchscreen.

Gauging Gadgets thanks a lot. I noticed Garmin has a 935 and they are about $350. What do you think about about the 935?

I would recommend the venu series

What did you go for?
do you know the brightness rating (lumens) for each watch?
I'm really doubting on the Galaxy watch active 2 and the Vivoactive 4s because i want a proper smartwatch with good sport apps en health widgets
Which do you choose the devices?
I prefer the Vivoactive 4. I like the look and the touchscreen.
what is the name of the watch face
It's called SC9. Here's a link to it apps.garmin.com/en-GB/apps/f314b35e-e5d1-4bac-a5d7-87cca7fe1b78
Boxing with a smartwatch on the wrist?
Watch face link please

It doesn't have hiking because we all don't live in the mountains.
People hike in Florida.
@@GaugingGadgets huh
I hike a lot, and I live in the swamps of Louisiana. Don't need mountains for hiking.
