Have you ever done a video on the Samson c01u pro
XLR is the best choice, the USB sounds harsher imo but still a great addition for the consumer.
I think it’s the opposite
Most awaited video for Nt1 5th generation, because my interest was in comparison to older versions with singing! Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
@@EdwardSmithMusicso it doesn’t need any acoustic treatment?
IMO 4th gen is the best sounding of them The 5th reminds me a lot to the harsh sound of the NT1A. Also not being able to use both XLR and USB-C at the same time is a big fail. My Shure MV7 can and uses a very old system designed by Shure since a decade or more.
Why is not being able to use USB and XLR a big fail? Does everything have to be a Swiss army knife these days? Did specializing in a thing go out of style while I was in the bathroom?
I love it. Nice video. The NT1 5th gen is brighter than the NT1 4th gen. But less brighter than the NT1a. I prefer the NT1 4th gen, for it's fullness, warmth n natural sound...However, the extra features/benefits of the NT1 5th is something not easy to ignore..🤔
Just got my nt1 5gen today it's amazing ❤️
Great short review.
Thanks 🙂
Cheers from LA.
This sponsored video changes….everything.
Yeah. Not keen on this at all.
yeah if you want legit reviews of this mic you go to booth junkie or curtis Judd
Haha exactly my thoughts. Yes - I too will love any microphone you pay me to review
@@HelicopterRidesForCommunists I mean to be fair, what's not to love about this microphone, you can't really beat it for the price
Well, kind of. I have decided to watch this video. I will never click on this channel again afterwards. So it technically changed something and then another thing, too xD
We have been using Rode nt1a microphone for many years which is made in Australia and we have .😇
Awesome wish I had one I have a laptop and a mixer but no mic for it I'm paying payments on a amp right now so maybe next year awesome video brotha!!
Thanks bud I never get hearts from bigger channels I can tell you care about the music I have a Shure SM58 but can't afford a microphone cable if you know anyone donate one I would really appreciate it
32bit flow audio trough usb is amazing
thank you for this! How far can I stand away from the mic in a room?
Personally, in this test of these models, I heard that the NT1A has a fuller and warmer sound. And the 5th generation NT1 sounds somewhat harsh.
Noticed it too bro Nt1a is best for singing or just music in general 🔥 people that like the nt1 are mostly podcast or voice over people. I jus feel like its missing that sparking airy touch that the NT1A got
It's actually the other way around
@@consciensnesttv NT1 4th or 5th gen tho
Yes, that is right. The NT-1A is certainly the brighter mic, and that also show in the frequency respons
Rode has really come a long way
One of best in the game
Great review
Dope content as usual
as good a neumann
Honestly both the 4th gen and nt1-a sounded miles better imo, with a more full low end and warmer tone. The usb and software was a good idea but the mic just kinda sounds thinner and harsh.
I felt the same. I'm looking for a good XLR mic for vocals and voiceover and really like the NT1 (4th gen).
I like the extra features on the 5th gen but the audio quality is the most important thing for me. Do you think whatever is causing the harsher sound can be fixed in processing or something? or should I go for the 4th gen instead.
@@usamamuzaffar8909 you might be able to eq and compress it to sound a little fuller, but it’s usually better to get a good source signal rather than trying to correct everything along the way. The 4th gen is a good option, but other mics at this price point that I would highly recommend are the lewit lct 440 or the audio technica at4040.
@@SickBrix Thank you 👌
@@usamamuzaffar8909 these guys dont know what they are talking about get the 5th gen
Man I will say. This mic was great for a week. I've gone through 2 of these now in the space of a couple months. Ran into so many faults.... Just something to keep in mind.
what kind of faults
@@campar1043 Just plugged into my interface and it would work for a day then I go back into my studio, then the following day it wouldn't work... Everything done exactly the same as the previous day, they both just didn't work :\ All my other mics would work just fine, then id plug in the rode, and back to not working. Ended up getting an WA-14 and works great ever since.
Exact same thing happened to me. Are you using a scarlett interface by chance? Apparently they don't work well together. Rode tech support told me i need to store my mic in its pouch with silica packets when not in use, which seems like something you shouldn't have to do with a high quality product.
@@lukegiduz Yeah I was. I think it's crazy that you have to store it like that. I ended up returning it to the place I purchased it from and bought WA-14 Mic instead. Wonderful mic 100% recommend .
Wait a minute the mic doesn’t work with a scarlett solo? why havent i seen any of these reviews mention this
This has so much potential but isn’t it a pity that it doesn’t have gain or volume knob or zero latency monitoring?
Thanks - finally someone mentioned it.
It's like USB microphones are not microphones? What is the difference between NT1-5th and e.g. Shure MV7? All twin microphones with the option of XLR and USB connection today have a headphone output for zero latency monitoring. Only NT1-5th does not.
Considering the sound quality, 32-bit float, and price, no direct monitoring from the microphone seems to place this in a lower class than it deserves. That said, the fourth gen is a little more lush.
Great microphone for those who need to constantly move, as it has usb and do not have to constantly bring a sound card!
Hear it Right ? The Old nt1a is a Little Bit muffled in the Midrange ?
I would love to know about the less latency of this! Or lack there off
NT1 4th Gen is amazing
I always use XLR in my studio, I am just not interested in USB so I think I’ll just stick with my normal NT1
i agree with you
In 2030 USB Will take over it
I love the way your voice sounds
Thank you 🙏🏻
Your welcome
Great content! I found it very useful. And I like th way you sing!
I'm super new to the territory... I got a MacBook Pro (latest) with USB-C ports. I am being trained to do commercial voice overs. My daughter also like the sing and record her guitar solos.
if I just get the 5th gen NT1, and skip an interface like FocusRite. would not this simple approach ( which is MAC -> USB-C CABLE -> 5thGen NT1 ) be almost the same quality as the most complex and expensive set up MAC -> USB-C CABLE -> Focusrite -> XLR CABLE -> 5thGen NT1?
I heard that XLR is the way to go in the professional world but how much this 32 BIT and direct USB X put a dent to that acceptance?
I mean how much different are we talking about here?
Bottomline is can I save the $s by skipping an interface like FocusRite?
When you did the demo'ing, DRY VOCALS were not impressive to me but the NON DRY ones were fantastic. I guess the echo and some software settings must have played a role in that. And in the non DRY ones, I could not see a difference. Could you shed some light on this for me?
im not intrested on microfons but your voice is musical and has a very special tone try hope you make some songs
I feel like it's a missed opportunity to limit the user to using EITHER usb or xlr and not being able to use them both at the same time. I wonder if it's capable of doing both, but a combo cable might have to be made custom for it
Are there mics that uses both connections at the same time? Smh🤷♂️why use 2 when 1 gets the job done
@Dapps The Producer yeah the mv7 and q2u can. It would be nice to connect to 2 devices at once or to get one Input using the dsp and another going into a separate recorder like a little zoom box for a backup. Or maybe record 1 input unprocessed into your daw while the processed usb input goes to discord or your twitch stream. It would be nice to have the xlr hooked up to my interface at my pc while the USB gets plugged into my playstation so I can use it for party chat as well as discord/stream. Maybe you prefer xlr but realize you were clipping on a good V/O take. It would be nice to still have that 32 bit float backup recording to get rid of the clipping. There are tons of reasons you would want that, and if you're including the tech why not let people use it?
you would have interference if you were be able to connect both, because of the electric current, you would constantly hear an annoying noise (cracke and beeping) through your xlr input
@@linked3 No, we have overcome this. It's 2023. There's a thing called engineering. Seperate the outputs
@@DappsTheProducer one of the reviews I saw of I think The Provoked Prawn Said Can Connect Both Simultaneously on the Shure MV7. The only other mic I've seen with the Connectors spaced apart can be used simultaneously is Samson Q9U but one reviewer said in A specific location there's a weird noise or interference when using USB not sure why not many thorough comparison and full functionalities explained videos on MV7 and Q9U and if Other USB and XLR combo Mics have this Capability like FiFine AmpliTank 688 would be interesting to know given lower budget.
is this NT1 5th gen are good for ASMR Cooking channel ? i mean NO vocals at all, only cutting, chopping and other sounds. Videomic NTG vs Rode NT1 5th Gen battle in my head 🥲 but Rode NT1 5th Gen will support my part time music career too. can't afford both units same time.
this is my favorite mic for asmr :3
Can you do a mic comparison between the lct 440 pure and Tlm 102?
had one - sounded metallic hated it. sold it
I'm wondering, is the "unclippable" feature is working as well when using the XLR conection?
That would only work if your interface has the 32 bits float option, otherwise that's just this mic's usb-c feature (the inner interface that the mic has offer the 32 bit float feature)
@@FromZerotoHeroBolivia damn Rode.. my audio interface will be useless if this is the case😭😭, I really want this mic.. if I'll use it as a 24 bit with the XLR, well the 32 bit feature will be useless💔 Rode please make a way for this😭😭
I think rode said somewhere that both inputs are the exact same, so it should work on both.
Thanks your videos really help
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻
Nice one! Thanks for the review. Any chance you can share your vocal chain? What compressor and reverb are you using? Thanks in advance
Nt1 5th generation is on another level
Does it worth investing in?
You sing like an Angel, uff!
5th gen seems to got some harshness to it from samples ive rummaged from compared to 4th.
Are they mics you review good for rap vocals as well or just for singing ?
Rode nt1 always great for rap vocals under 300 usd 👍
@@MixAtölyesi which audio interface would fit perfectly with the rode nt1?, considering a limited budget, and which headphones to use?, i have been looking for and most of audio interfaces needs high impedance headphones since their output impedances are not low for using with traditional earphones, so i want some recomendations.
Thanks .

Nice review. Can I use this directly to my phone via usb?
Your vocal mix is so crisp?
Im impressed every tim of the quality of your video YOU ARE THE BEST 🎉❤
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻
Np its normal
Im an fl studio producer beginning
Can u please make a video on instrument like electric guitar and piano/keyboard... For beginner... And affordable....
BUYERS BEWARE: NT1 5th gen sounds great but it will stop working at random, I live in a humid region and tech support told me there are issue with humidity/moisture I guess. A lot of people on forums see this same issue with this particular mic. Killer sound but definitely not reliable. I bit the bullet and bought a shure sm7db instead, if I could go back I would just skip this one.
The song is yours? I like your voice, is really special! 👏💪 thanks for your help! 🙏

i'm going to buy a new microphone what are your suggestions LCT 440 Pure or NT1
sE 2220
To be honest… it’s hard to beat the LCT 440… that would be my pick right now.
@@EdwardSmithMusic thank you so much sir , love from india 🙌

LCT Pure 440 all the way
I’d like to see this usb-c connection running through your analog vocal rack with preamp and compressor ))
Thoughts vs the AKG?
Is this mic better than a tlm 102 or tlm 103? If not it won't change much
Its not better than those microphones.
@@EdwardSmithMusic Perfect thats all I wanted to know. Thanks for showing it
is it better than my Rode NT-1000? I'm bored of its sound now.
I would like a comparison of this NT1 and the Warm Audio WA-47Jr
Wa47jr Is more "vintage" sound, warm whereas nt1 is much clean and detailled
The normal condenser mic gets plugged into an audio interface which is XLR - using the USB connection there’s no way you could do that so why spend the extra money for the feature and the software?
You can record this microphone via USB without needing an audio interface so you can save a lot of money. Also as the processing is built into the mic, you don't need a special DAW to get good eq and FX. (it could in theory be plugged into an iPhone/iPad to record). Imagine recording on the move and only needing your phone and microphone.
But it also has an XLR output so you have a choice....
Hello, I Just bought a Rode mic for the first time (NT2a) and I notice the XLR pins are not equal, please is that normal or not? one is longer than the other
normal
Can i use rode nt1 5th gen + ps1+ ?
I have the rode Nt1A and sometimes it stops working or stops recording mid recoring not sure why. Some videos say its because of the moisturizer or if it gets hot. Have you had any similar problems with this new version?.
Hello edward! Did you experience no sound pickup by the Rode NT1 Signature series? I just got mine last week, and now its not picking up any noise. Any help?
So do you can connect the Rode nt1 to the Rode Ai 1 and monitoring this with zero latency with the dsp effects from rode nt1 as well?
I don’t think so. I think to run the internal effects you need more than the phantom power. But I could be wrong
TLM 102 better. Neumann & Sony can’t be beaten, they have sound character that no other company have..
Do you really need to start out with expensive gear?
You are missing the mic man. Lower the mic so you are actually singing into it and not below it like you do. Notice the difference in sound.
Please do Aspen Pittman Designs AP 1B-FET Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone‼️‼️‼️‼️
Why does your voice move left and right while you talk?
Which one would be the best for me between the 5th(new) Generation Rode or the Aston spirit? I'm using an ID14 interface.
I might take the aston over the rode

Question, can you adjust the volume of the 32 bit recorded audio whether its a whisper or clipped audio inside of a DAW, like for example Ableton, can you adjust the volume inside of Ableton?
Don't trust UA-cam videos for everything. U cud ask ur questions directly to Rode thru their website n that's where I get many of my questions answered.
hello sir today i bought a Audio Technica ATH M20 X With Cable Creation USB Sound Card but there is some issue with sound that is bass when i use headphone with USB sound card then i fell low bass and if i use headphone with my laptop jack then it sounds good why its happening plz resolve it..
Awesome Review! This Microphone Sounds Worth Buying!
Does anyone know if this mic requires a sound-card in the PC / laptop when plugging directly in via USB-C?
No sound card is needed when used via USB

This sponsored post changes everything.
Still the same capsule which sadly I have never liked the sound of.
SO much of this is hype and marketing.
This microphone is ok for singer but rapper no
Waiting for 2030
You mix vocals so excessively top-boosted, I wonder if you have your monitors set up in a very dull way that this happens in every video... It's hard to imagine it's intentional
The moment I hear content creators I am sure that it will lose its quality, im going to lewcitt Lct 240 pro and audio technica AT 2035 they're legendary and is made for studio use in mind, I don't like these one solution suits all
I really liked the song tho hhhh?

Clouds of convulsively enthusiastic reviews of the RODE NT1 5th gen flooded the internet. No wonder - most of the more famous audio-youtubers got it for free. PR officers of the RODE brand know well what advertising does on social networks. But in not a single review did anyone dwell on the shortcoming, which in my opinion is totally unacceptable for its use straight via USB: There is no headphone output on the body of the microphone. So, an absolutely essential element is missing, which today every stupid Chinese USB mic for 20 bucks already has.
"latency should not be a problem". Well is it, or isn't it? Where are the tests? Pretty disappointing review.
Rode microphones are absolutely shit, all of them. There's literally no such thing as a good cheap microphone, especially for vocals. The best budget microphone on the market is the Telefunken TF47, and that costs two grand.
WHAT?!?!?!? Two grand?!?!? That’s not cheap, that’s just what you call “professional studio gear that cost a fortune”! Do you really need to start off with something like that?!?!?!?!?
@@reianae.smiley8573 You don't need to do anything, but be aware that you're not going to be able to polish a turd or roll it in glitter.
I too will love any microphone that you pay me to spotlight
