Man I can’t wait to become a carpenter once I’m done with college. I will pursue construction management afterwards but me being a jarhead I just want to put 4 more years to learn. Then branch out

I don't see a "rotted" out window. All the framing they cut out was solid, even beautiful wood. What the heck am I missing here?

I know! I like the bay window better than 3 double hung windows.
Not only does it make the space look bigger, you have seating which cozies near the fireplace. I wish they would have left the original brick chimney too - it would have added architectural interest to the rooms!
You must remember that "rotted" could also mean wife "does not like" 😂
@@sherriianiro747 "Modern" renovations seem to take all the actual character out of homes it seems. I dont understand why people buy historic homes but take out all the actual historic fixtures and want bland HGTV style interiors instead
@@ElstonGunnII I don't either and I see such a lack of appreciation but mostly value - the architectural elements that add character to the house are more expensive for that detailing.
Removing them lowers the value of the home.
I love how you can hear the drone at about the 8 minute mark when they are doing the window framing.

Usually the fire Marshall does not like I-joists. They are the first thing that collapses in a fire. Better to use standard lumber or MPP. (Mass plywood panels) Made in Oregon. 🙂
Regarding the toilet joist problem:
Question, why do you have to build a filler wall?
Does the toilet have to be 12 to center in that case?
Wouldnt you just end up with extra space behind the toilet?

I believe Tom calls Kevin "Sonny", and Kevin calls Tom "Pops". Tom is certainly the father figure to the younger generation of the crew.

I understand about Veterans, My Father was a WWII war Veteran. But how many hundreds of thousands of homeless people could use a roof over their head! Everyone deserves affordable housing!

TheVA will house any veteran and their family as long as the Vet doesn’t misbehave
That's a political problem. Military contractors employ many people in many places, and any cuts will mean political suicide. But to be fair the VA is consistently rated better than private health care by patients.
