You did phenomenal. 3rd place. In a fresh build, No practice, no break downs, in a new discipline of driving. You definitely have a leg up on the other hoonigans.
Also way too many pre pubescent keyboard commandos with an under developed prefrontal cortex, spouting off negativity in the comments. They need to put down mommies phone and go play fortnight or Lego.
Love that this guy is a step above the rest of the hoonigan build crew in that he builds and then uses the car for what it was meant for. (Ive never forgotten about the diesel camaro)
No way this guy should feel bad. He kicked ass. First time drifting is bad enough. First time precision drifting around an obstacle course with a huge crowd? fugget-about-it. Nice work. Keep on trucking!
Not knocking the quality of his work, especially since this isn't his Forte, but most of what he did (not all, obviously) was built on. Definitely helped the speed a opposed to Scotto who went dumb shit and had to custom make almost everything
Built a rock-solid car, in a time crunch, got to the event, wheeled like a maniac and wrangled a monster of his own creation. Then podiumed no less! Absolutely epic commitment, even under evidently overwhelming pressure. All while filming and being open about the process. Damn fine work all around. I nearly spit take with the eagle and full patriot outfit combo. Dude is magnificent.
For an air intake solution, could go NASCAR style, a heat shield underneath the air filter that's sealed off to a short cowl induction hood(2" maybe; check out the "Sunoco style" hood for 3rd gens, fits the styling really well). Maybe not the *most* effective option but it is certainly proven to be effective, and wouldn't require as much parts swapping, just a little fab work. Honestly pretty amazing how hooked up the rear of that car is - if anyone doesn't think that solid axles can hang corners, they better be checking out some Trans-Am and such(solid axle will do anything an IRS can... on smooth pavement). Definitely need more front tire on it with all of that rear grip, probably stiffen up the rear shocks and sway bar some to make it break free a little easier, keep the front softer so it can maintain grip and [try to] keep up with the rear. Also, that big tall spoiler out back isn't doing the balance any favors with zero downforce on the nose; I'd either leave the spoiler off for now(the last thing the car needs is more rear grip at speed LOL) or add a good sized front splitter to match. In fact, I'd probably start off with the splitter and with minimal spoiler height and add spoiler height if it felt like the car needed it. All that mechanical grip and HP, this thing will be a weapon once it's dialed!
So that was impressive especially the first time out with a car and you can see how much bite the car has it didn't want to slide but you made it happen . Great Job!
You’re a winner in my book brother 👍🏼. You completed a build for a competition you didn’t even practice for and still placed 🥉, and you build was sick my dude!!! Thank you for the content, truly enjoyed it 😎
Hey, you set a personal baseline. Lotta people (myself included) would to into something like that where we have no knowledge or skill and just overthink and not even attempt it at all due to fear of failure. You knew your limitations, went full-send, and figured it out as best as you could. There were some failures but it's all important learning being done! It's only gonna get better! Be proud you have something to show for your efforts!
Nothing but respect for Darren. Incredible build ! And for all the haters let’s see you go out on a fresh build in a sport have never done before. Hope to see the Camaro all fixed up again soon!!! 27:53
Super humble and grateful you don't always get things the first try the car in my opinion is suited better for auto cross and some fun track days it will slay just need practice buddy definitely hope to see more of you and the Camaro.
@xprettylightsx3781 im currently running a @fitech efi carb setup but gonna slap a carb on it and a th400 behind the sbc. I installed 3"lowering springs/shocks from switch suspension. And a set of cal tracks. 15x7american racing saw blades. Ill post a walk around soon. 🤙🏽🤘🏼
It was gonna be my daily til the fitech unit took a shit. Stripped the stereo out put in my new to me 01 silverado. And not to toot my own horn but its all done from a wheelchair 🤣 never give up on your dreams. 🤘🏼❤️weRone.. we all love this automotive lifestyle 🤙🏽

bro, you went out there to your first drift event with a big car with big power, and you tried anyway in from of a ton of ppl. thats awesome- props. and at least you finished your car!!
My man, never apologize for having huge, pendulous balls and the ability to actually execute the work with discipline. You’re as rare as a winning lottery ticket. Good on ya mate
This is the kind of build series i love. Gutted the car out, worked his butt off, finished it and raced it. Not like those others i wont mention that take years to build
@@tandmbros5877 if you think Scotto and Vin are hurtin for money after all the OG's left and every episode is a commercial for a company they recently bought, I have some nft's to sell you.
So it looks like Brian never finished his, big surprise there. I cant wait to see it tho, when his son finishes the build. Hope im still around by then
I did the same exhaust routing but with an h-pipe on my 77 z28. It worked great. Like you said, easier and works better. Who cares if it's the commonly accepted way.
If it's anything like the sonic in Oregon.. it's gnarly AF and you're most definitely not missing out. Go to dairy Queen if ya want the exact same food, but better. Haha.
Work on more lock. You will find the car doesn't want to grip and straighten as much if you can sit on more angle, plus it'll make this type of driving easier, look better and make more tyre smoke
Love the car. Need more angel. Use your hand brake to start your slide and then gas it.. everone has there own way. Just need to figure out what works for you.
I've owned a thirdgen for like 7 years and being a teenager in it I can tell you you're right they don't drift that good lol they're kinda sketchy i could slide mine but it doesnt slide right it will go right around most times, they do hook like crazy I assume they're just better for drag racing/street racing
Don't be so negative about your drifting skills. You built an entire car in three months....not everyone can do that. On top of that, you were there driving it right after you built it. You have skills you don't suck completely. Just need practice. Happy Thanksgiving.
Darren, you did good. Please stick with the skids, I guarantee you'll get better. Lastly you're trying to slid something with a steering box and little angle, don't be so hard on yourself

Watching Darren do this has made me confident I can do it to. Loved this and the progress up to it. Well done bro
Always been a fan of Mr Parsons attitude and abilities. Great stuff happy t day all.

Big props for jumping into the deep end like that and learnin how to swim! Can't wait to see more

Where did you get that plastic(?) dash insert?
yeah, fix it up, take it to a track and do some laps with it, i think it would perform pretty good for that to
Good effort I say! 👏🏻👏🏻
Hate how much he’s beating up himself. He did great!
Yes happy Thanksgiving
How do you get fresh air to the giant air filter, when the hood is shaped like this?
The easy way is making a simple pan that goes under the air filter and seals it to the scoop.
