Everyone in there either worked with him or has in the past. Chief men from his current commander in game number always pass away before ending. Blue team ended up separated and left without a replacement until he returned in halo 4.

To be fair, she DID kidnap 75 children, recondition them to be efficient killing machines, performed fatal surgeries that claimed roughly 40% of their numbers, and then suited them for all out genocidal retaliation...but I mean, she DID save the human race with her work. By comparison, she is the far lesser of two evils; ONI literally starts civil wars just to keep secrets and keeps factions that are supposed to be allied at a distance and even do horrible experimentations on humans and aliens alike...
Dr. Halsey GRIEVED in her own way for her Spartans that perished in the augmentation surgery. She even wished she could have postponed it so she could perfect it to lower or even completely remove the fatality rate. But ONI was breathing down her neck and the Spartans had to be augmented before they hit puberty; she was out of time on both fronts and had to accept the results she knew would come.
ONI regrets nothing of the troubles they cause. They kidnap and murder anyone they consider a liability to their work. They would probably torture people for information, I wouldn't put it passed them.

People hate that Chief talks more, but he has no orders to follow and his only companion is essentially dying. The Master Chief is forced into becoming John. He has new freedoms and personal consequences (Cortana). It’s easier for Chief to save the galaxy, than it is for John to save Cortana. John has been a machine for so long, that for the first time he seems urgent, unorthodox, and out of his element. That’s why Cortana says at the end, “Welcome home, John”. And, the tag line, “Wake up, John” is used. It’s symbolic of the Chief’s own humanity. “Wake up and come home, John”; not “Finish the Fight, Chief”. This story is so fucking good.

I am not going to say Halo 4 was bad (though it definitely was from a multiplayer standpoint). It was far from great though. Boring and repetitive enemies, uninspired level design, felt removed from Halo we remember (the whole point is to please the fans), Melodramatic story elements. It was mediocre, but set up some story arc's that fell flat on their face in Halo 5 (it's turning out exactly like Star Wars now!). It was truly a bad idea to continue the original trilogy with a different developer. If you can't ever get the same team again, then DON'T do it.
Halo 6 can still end up a great game that is thrilling and fun, but it should definitely try to remove itself as much as possible story wise from 4 and 5. Continue the same basic plot idea, but don't carry over all of the garbage from those games, try to tell a more stand alone finale story. Either way the new trilogy has already killed itself and will not be remembered as iconic. It had a mediocre start, a middle portion that was the worst game ever in the Halo franchise, but hopefully a solid finish. 343, don't be sellouts! (putting celebrities in HALO, WTF?).
I like him talking more when the dialogue is well suited to him, which I think, it always is :)

The Prototype Channel pretty sure that’s just for gameplay purposes. Apparently the scorpion tank weights 66tons. So master chief would need super hero level strength to do that, of which halo is fairly grounded in science fiction. At a guess I’d say he couldn’t lift much more than 5 tons. Which is still insane by real world standards.
Then again I just had a conversation with my friends on how he could armor lock to survive a drop from space.... he probably can have a similar function to flip scorpions
@@knightkhaos2484 Spartans survive falling from space because of their armour locking up and the gel absorbing the impact. Falling from space isnt that much more insane than falling out of an aircraft, as you reach terminal velocity pretty quick. People have survived parachute failures before (though thats just straight up luck). Spartans have died falling from space and many suffered injuries. Chief just gets lucky
Flipping scorpions is just straight up a gameplay feature and has no actualy place in lore.

This is the exact same posture he made towards del Rio earlier. John didn’t just promised Cortana that he wasn’t going to leave her here, he _asserts_ it under no uncertain terms-even if the situation was entirely beyond his control. Think of that “no, sir,” and all the force the statement had had behind it. Now he’s using the exact same conviction with Cortana. Whoever animated the Chief, bravo.

Yeah the guy above was right. The Librarian advanced Chief's evolution and made him somewhat taller and stronger and all that other stuff. That's how Forerunner's did things. As you advance through society you evolve according to your caste which would make you significantly better at it like bigger and stronger warriors, smarter and more powerful builders, ect. Halo: Cryptum was a good book to look into if you wish to learn more about them as it illustrates the final era of the Forerunner superiority and shows the Didacts journey and how the Librarian did all her stuff. Good read.

Why is everyone bitching about Halo 4? I thought the story was superb, and... THE FEELS. Oh God, the feels. If you're all Halo fans, then I'm sure you all liked this one as much as I did. If you didn't, you can't call yourself a fan.
People don't complain about the Halo 4 story itself, they complain about Spartan Ops and Multiplayer.

Oh I wouldn't say that buddy, I only play Halo games for their story just because the original drew me in so well... Now, well...
Halo 4 definitely had the best story of all the games. The only bad thing about it was how short it was. But I`m happy they finally made Chief and Cortana how they are in the books. People are only not liking this game because of the few similarities to COD in the Multiplayer and every complaint about the Campaign doesn`t make sense overall since people think the Forerunners are annoying yet they complain about the Flood in Halo 3 and how repetitive the Spartan Ops is yet the 2nd half of the season was well done. Its impossible to please people nowadays and it showed with people complaining about the BR not being powerful enough and some weapons are over powered like the boltshot but once they tweaked all those people complained about the BR and Light rifle being overpowered now! It makes no sense and people need a fucking brain.

I feel like this line along with most of Palmer's character was a bit blown out of proportion and as a result, 343 seems to have scrapped whatever more exciting role they had for her character.
I always took it as Palmer trying to use humor to dull some of the edge and nervousness of meeting a Legend in person, not as a sign of disrespect. Her mind goes to "Oh, we're both Spartans, maybe some banter will make things a little less tense," and that fails because Chief is very much not one of the other Spartan IV's.
Honestly this didn't make me like the character a bit more at all. Seems like since the deaths of the likable characters in 3 we don't get much to go with.

I know the debris falling behind Master Chief is the ship he blew up, but I also feel like it is symbolism for the fact that his world, now that Cortana is gone, is collapsing all around him. He's lost so many people throughout his life, she was the only thing keeping him intact..

Even though he was more of a machine, it was her that made him human. Somewhat ironic, considering she's not even a real human herself.
I have a feeling she will return in Halo 5. It wouldn't be the same without her.. It would be like shepard without the crew in Mass Effect. Wouldn't feel right. Chief needs her, and she needs him. How will she comeback? Who knows.. up to 343.. hopefully they wont disappoint.
i actually hope that chief gets his hands on the key catherine got from the librarian and the other piece and that the librarian somehow encoded a new cortana in it with a backup that is stable from when he n the librarian met.
so that catherine could decript cortana to a chip with chiefs help and that cortana would be back. because that would see quiet logical to me since the librarian confronted not only john but also catherine

In the Halo 3 Starry Night trailer, the enviorment also appears to be in a desert-like area, but their are what appears to be 6 wraiths, and a brute chieftan surrounded by 10 other brutes. The minor scene in Halo 4 was showing multiple dead elites, and not brutes. Plus there were no destroyed wraiths shown either. That and the enviorment/atmosphere in the Starry Night trailer was much more darker like. The one in Halo 4 was very bright with the sun out. So I don't believe that the scenes connect with eachother.

Let's assume Chief let them handcuff him. For someone as strong as Chief, even without the suit it would be like handcuffing somebody with toilet paper.
Its extremly painful to witness. Regardless of the endless debates of how the multiplayer is in all of halo series, i personally feel like halo always was extremly good in the campaign and story side of things. Halo2 and 3 were a lot more traditional in storytelling while halo4 a deeper relationship-touch due to the nature of not only the 2 main characters but humanity and the forerunners. The cut scenes were extremly good in this one (talking about the setup) and especially the ending was properly made to create suspension for the next game. HALO5 on the other hand is a total desaster. Scenes and story are extremly cringe worthy in comparison. It simply pains me to have witnessed that. Halo5 reminds me a lot of BatmanVsSuperman movie. Suspense and Trailer were amazing, the real thing is a blow to the head.
Halo 4 went way too dramatic and emotional, changing both Chief and cortana to have much more feeling than they did originally. It feels like a fucking tv show rather than a story with real people. Although I do agree that Halo 5 managed to be 10x as bad.
Not really. Cortana was the same as she was in other games. The only difference here is that she was dying and her rampancy made her unstable. That and John was the same as well until that final moment on the remains of the Didact's ship when Cortana said she couldn't go with him. Her death caused him to show some genuine humanity in the first time in decades.
Storm Bringer777 ehhhhhhhhhhhh, I have to semi-disagree. I firmly believe that if Bungie had made this game Chief would not have acted this way. He would have been much more silent and a bit more broken inside rather than out. Chief doesn't really know how to show emotion that well, showing how much he cares for cortana in such a dramatic way is not fitting.

Chief is a battle hardened war machine that is basically incapable of real communication because his entire life was taken away to become a spartan. His social skills are absolute shit and he understands that he can lose anyone at any given time.
Despite all of this Chief gave Johnson a moment of respect and comfort when he died, he held his hand and told him "I'm getting you out of here" and when Johnson finally passes Chief stands up, the camera shot showing from behind and giving a feeling of a hero rising in sorrow as the music plays along with it. Cortana even said "Chief... I"m so sorry" and Chief obviously grips Cortana's chip in pain of the loss.
So after all of this proof how the fuck do you think that Chief didn't care?
I never really noticed how amazing this story was until watching this and really paying attentions to the cut scenes. I always loved Halo 2's story the most, but not sure about that anymore. I fucking love this game.

It always had, the thing is the Development tools at launch were terrible and that's why we saw many games at 720p, a few months later when they freed up the 10% of space on the X1 and gave the Devs better tools we've been seeing many games at 900p and 1080p on X1 and no 720p.
A good example is Cod Ghosts, that was 720p, but AW will be 900p with better graphics even. However games like Metal Gear and that Football game 2015 will be 720p, the Devs simply don't care, look how terrible Metal Gear Ground Zeroes look on X1 in comparison to the PS4, it doesn't even look better than the 360 version, its like they ported the 360 version to the X1, made it 720p and called it a day.

You had generic military good guy, authority figure who is really angry and a jerk because, well he's really angry and is a jerk. And of course super powerful bad guy who wants to destroy humanity because Chief and Cortana need something to do before Cortana dies.
The old Halo games were a pretty generic sci-fi story that made up for it with loads of personality. They had memorable characters (other then the protagonist), a sense of humor, a somewhat unique art style with loads of interesting designs, iconic music, and they didn't take themselves too seriously.
The new Halo series is a generic sci-fi story with lots of melodrama.

And both of their personalities (I would argue) are explored more here than any other game and with greater dimensionality to who they are. Del Rio is a jerk, and is in way over his head, but he does raise good points in the story of a spartan and an AI stumbling on something they can't prove, have no evidence for, and aren't entirely sure themselves. There's also Lasky and Palmer who are good new supporting characters with Lasky helping out Chief even at his own expense. Didact is pretty fascinating in terms of his character (even without the terminals). He believes only the Forerunners to be able to protect life in the galaxy through a brute force method of taking humans for soldiers. In his mind, the flood is a danger that's worth this course of action. I don't think it's "melodramatic" because I don't think the emotions are exaggerated or sensationalized. What the characters think and feel are logical and appropriate for these characters in moments where they are expressing emotion.
Chief was a memorable protagonist in Halo: CE, but then Bungie shaved more and more of his character away with each game, which was really disappointing. I think Halo still has great music, characters, art styles, and finally went back to their roots of being more harder edged sci-fi with Halo CE and Halo Reach

I thought this story was very well told in the cutscenes. John's character is largely static through the Bungie games, it's not until he's losing his one constant companion that you start to see the cracks, his denial, and his sadness. It felt earned, and not a cheap reimagining of a character, at the end of the day, Lasky is right, he's not a machine.
Shame the gameplay didn't really live up to that standard.
Disobeying orders wasn't the hardest thing Chief ever had to do.

I almost cried when i was in the cockpit of a Pelican the pelican has been my most favorite aircraft in Halo even though i don’t like the new pelicans but to get to fly one was the best moment ever.

Can't see why so many people hated on this game. I'm a huge fan of the ones made by BUNGIE and I can honestly say that 343 did a kick-ass job! The Didact is an awesome villain and the Master Chief is just as deadly as ever. Definitely my favourite Halo game, after Reach.
Keep playing you'll see. The real issue lies in replayability. Regardless, 343 did a good job... Can't deny that.
People forget that the Bungie team /are/ the 343i team, give or take a few. I think they did pretty well with this game tbh.
One thing that does grind my gears is when the books clash with the games plot. I prefer the book canon to the game canon, so when I see the Composer in the last Halo Reclaimer book, I can't help but think 'I bet Greg Bear would have taken it somewhere... better'. I say this because the only Reclaimer book the composer is mentioned in is the third one. *Sigh*

I really want someone to explain to me what they find wrong with Halo 4. I see comments like "Oh it sucks" and "What a bad game" but they never have a reason, not some bullshit but a real reason.
Never played any Halo games, but I do enjoy the lore of it very much. 1000lb armor capable of nearly anything, some nice storyline, history, a future game done right, etc.
My only hark about any of the animation scenes, (which look stunningly gorgeous by the way), is that none of them do the combat/speed capabilities justice.
I read that, with the enhanced reflexes/movement system of a Spartan, the movement alone would be significantly too jerky or fast for a regular human and would pretty much kill them. Not only that, but the force and power that is able to be generated is supposedly insane, so I would expect Master Chief or any Spartan to be able to literally knock out/kill the Covenant trooper in the beginning with just one punch. That was heavy, hard metal, and that punch to the jaw barely fazed the enemy. He was able to throw him off easily though, which made sense.
I like how Master Chief is literally 7-9ft tall in his armor. That's cool.
But, that armor is 1000lbs, are the covenent actually strong enough to compete with such weight and power? That's what kind of confuses me, because not many of the actual cutscenes actually show the power or any of the armor compared to what I've read in lore.
The elites are crazy strong.

Brutes are supposed to be naturally stronger and sangheli are equivalent. With the armor the spartan outclasses everyone else but brutes aren’t far behind.
The prophets also have augmented elite military units if I remember correctly.

Halo 4 is the Man of Steel of Halo. A lot different and more grounded in reality but because of this tone shift it divides the communities of both.
Am I the only one who sheds more than just a tear when Chief pleads Cortana to stay? It is a moment truly touching indeed.

I thought Halo 4's story was heads and tails above the story of Halo 5. Dont bring the MP into it, I'm only in it for the story these days so I have no idea how the two MPs compare. All I know is that halo4s story is brilliant and Halo 5s had me going, "meh" the entire time.
