We were there last week; saw you filming your intro in front of La Estancia. My PLUSES: amazing property that's huge, safe, clean, and interesting, with three amazing beaches. Food was better this year than our previous three visits (fresh, good quality, great variety.) Aguamarina building (not, "Aquamarina") is un-matched in its views, cleanliness (being less than 7 years old) and quiet. OF NOTE: this is one of CM's main family resorts which means you have to be ok with much of the entertainment and activities being geared to kids. I'm a parent of an adult child so I realize I've now aged out of being cool with uncontrolled kids screaming around, touching the food at the buffets, dominating the pools, etc. The MINUSES: service levels have generally diminished here over the years. Part of the character of CM was the GOs interacting with the GMs like at meals where they'd asked to sit with you--we liked that. Now they sit in staff groups taking up tables in the crowded restaurants during peak times. We had two service requests on this last trip: to change rooms after they couldn't fix our air conditioning that had the room at 27 degrees C, and to leave for the airport 1 hour earlier. Both of these service engagements were treated as huge hassles by the guest service staff that seem to be equipped to only do the bare minimum (check you in.) And often it's one little thing that is a deal breaker and this was ours: we used to play tennis at this resort but we've become big Pickleball fanatics. We were thrilled to see that the resort converted one tennis court to 4 pickleball courts. Immediately though, it was pretty obvious the courts manager was not a fan of the Pickle. For example, two of the four days we played, he directed young families to play tennis in the Pickleball courts, so it's total chaos with tennis balls screaming around the tiny Pickleball area. He also kept the PBall rackets locked up so if he wasn't at the desk (most of the time) you couldn't play, meanwhile there are stacks of tennis rackets and balls on the walls for anyone to grab. No big deal, but all in all, enough that we won't visit a fifth time.

That's odd about pickleball. Club Med Cancun is adding even more pickleball courts so hopefully he'll get with the program.
