Hudson, was your payment for the partner program later than usual this month? Mine was and I saw a couple other writers mentioning that they hadn't been paid yet.
@@1webwriter Hmmm, possibly. I find Medium payments can fluctuate by a few days each month. You can always create a support ticket to check in with Medium though. The link is in this post under section #1 ("I have an account issue."): bit.ly/writingdirectory 🗓🙂

In terms of email.list, I saw that Medium already includes an email subscribe feature where I'm able to download the list of emails. In this case, what is the difference/benefits to starting a list outside Medium? Thanks
I'm not too familiar with the inner workings of email delivery services, but for whatever reason, my Medium email list has never garnered many views. I'm not sure if it's because I write about many different topics or if Medium emails get filtered into spam folders, but I've had much more success using external email services. Substack, for example, does a really good job of making sure subscribers get posts. Plus, you can reach a wider audience with your own email list as your readers don't need to be paying Medium members. 🙂💌
@@hudsonrenniewrites Ok, thanks. If you haven't already, this could be a good topic for a video - email lists: where to start them, ways to promote them and get subs :)
No, unfortunately not. 🥲But, if you're planning to write and make money on Medium, the $5 per month is nominal compared to what you can earn. So, I definitely think it's still worth it.
I feel like Medium isn’t really a platform worth trying to make money on. Seems more like the place for lead gen and growing an audience. I love the way people like Ryan Holiday and Mark Manson use the platform. They still post frequently even after the success of their books and Mark doesn’t even put his posts behind the paywall. Tim Denning still posts frequently too despite Medium paying creators less than they used to. Clearly there are other ways to make money once I have an audience.
I think you've nailed it. ✅ Next month, I'm going to start reposting my Substack posts to Medium to see how they perform. But, I think you're totally right. As of today, Medium is best utilized as a way to gain an initial audience. Then, monetizing it elsewhere. 🙌
My country is not within Medium partner program list, can I still earn money by just subscribing to the 5 dollars member-only account? What is the difference?
If you're ineligible to join the Partner Program, the only difference between the memberships is that with a paid membership, you can read unlimited stories. 🙂🙌
@@amjadbaba1216 You can only get paid from views and read time if you join the Medium Partner Program. Here's a list of eligible countries (under section #1): bit.ly/writingdirectory
Medium seems to have introduced changes that hit the average writer even harder. With the claps and comments greyed out it's impossible to tell whether you've read something before. This all lowers the read ratios. As there are no obvious benefits to writers from these changes I can only assume they have been done deliberately to cut costs.

Hi Hudson, I have a couple of questions regarding my MPP application and would appreciate your guidance: 1. I am not a resident of the US. Regarding the question “I can’t claim treaty benefits, so I’m not required to provide a Tax ID Number,” should I select this option? 2. Additionally, do I need to open a Stripe account to complete the process? Thank you in advance for your help. Best, Marcelle
Hmmm, the tax information is always tricky. I would recommend reaching out to Medium for tax questions. You can find the link to create a support ticket here (under section 1): bit.ly/writingdirectory As for monetization, yes. You'll need to create a Stripe account to get paid through Medium. They will prompt you to set one up once you apply for the Partner Program. I hope that helps! 🙂🙌
