+mangreat71 I think so. But check to make sure. and yeah i know for sure you need to buy the land. you might need to be a contractor. or find a place where the laws don't apply. Im not sure. best of luck.
It's not "illegal" ... Regardless, you will have to check code compliance, get a home builders permit, check with your city as well. ANYONE can build their own house but the factor is will the city allow YOU too.
Total fantasy. $100-125/Sf today will get you a starter home in the southern US built on a slab on a small tract lot. A northern home on a full basement will be $200/sf and up, and custom homes typically start around $300/SF and can easily be 2-3x that. It just depends on the market. In Silicon valley a cramped 2-br starter will be North of $1M... That same $1M will buy a near mansion in rural Missouri. Don't do any planning based on this video.
You're right. In Alabama a new home will cost you 117.00 per sq ft. Gadsden area. Full brick, hip roof with 3/4 acre lot. As of feb. 2019. Many houses going up are cheap made and i dont know how much they are? I feel sorry for the person up north that wants a nice 2800 sq foot home. In Alabama you don't even pay property taxes if you're 65 or older!!!!!

What’s the point of getting/ wanting a steeper roof?
Brandon Estrada Aesthetics/architecture/ fewer problems with snow in northern climates / etc. But it is mostly a matter of style and design.

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical too. Maybe this video was closer to being accurate back in 2013, but I think it's way off today.
Not if you live in Kansas
