When he cried after the match I cried too... That shows how much hard both of them were training and finally one won 🏆 that too after long match of 28 mins..

I think best of three fights would of been a fairer system. As they are so evenly matched. 3 x Fights over 3 days.
The essence of judo has been built on the foundation of the old style, the Japanese jujutsu. Simply put, it was a combat style mainly used during the war times. People just want to finish a fight as quickly as possible. and most of the time, the death of one side will result in victory. And do you expect them to go for best of 3? It is unlikely.
Besides, one match is usually more than enough to decide the Victor. Do you think maruyama have the strength to go for 2nd or 3rd round after suffering an utter defeat? I would not. It might even result in a humiliating 3-0. It was clear as day anyway. Maruyama was passive throughout the match; it is a miracle there was no shido penalized against him.
10:00. Abe mentions he is the only one in the world who experienced this first time in history qualifier - hello Maruyama was on the tatami also with you. Abe did not mention anything positive about Maruyama - sympathy for him not making the team - how he put up an incredible fight and pushed him the whole way for a 24 min fight - it could of been anyone's fight. They must have a behind the scenes rivalry that is unspoken. I was cheering for Maruyama as i like Maruyama. But Abe won so good luck to him at the Olympics.

@@lancedelacruz4117 I might have to eat my words then and delete my comment. Thanks for the feedback - the youtube subtitles for when he was crying doing the fight conference was terrible they didnt make any sense. Is there a better subtitle English version of the actual fight?
