In Cycle 1, Mario is not really glitchy lookin'. Only Mario color palette changes, depending on its Powerup States (PS). For me, I found PS 15, 22, 29, 32, 47, 51/54 and 63 to be interesting. Cheers!
This is all quite fascinating, so thank you so much for uploading! I wish more UA-cam videos delved into exploring these kinds of things. Have all of these states been fully explored by anyone? I'm wondering what each of these might cause power ups in the reserve box to become, and what other additional glitches may result. I did see a glitched exits video by the way, so I know there's that.
Got a few questions I am stuck on 1: Do I need the same shell I used for the Yoshi Part? 2: I cant get the positioning right? Any help? 3: Does this work with the Nintendo Switch SNES Emulator?
I have 2 questions. 1. What happens if mario gets hit while in any of these glitched states? 2. Does this have to be done of the Japanese version of this game?
Hi Chopper! Thanks for your questions! 1) If you get hit at any time, you go back to Powerup State 0... small Mario. You have to be cautious! 2) The Powerup Incrementation glitch can be done in both the Japanese and US versions (not the PAL I think). I prefer to use the Japanese version of SMW because the exit counter is not limited to 96 exits (as it is the case for the US and PAL versions, with the little star). So with the Japanese version, when you do certain unintended exits, it is registered in the gamefile. I did go to A6, which is 106 exits... For a very good explanation of the PI glitch for the US version, look this video by Seth Bling: ua-cam.com/video/DqF4JZ7rvEc/v-deo.html. The only difference is the exact position of Yoshi on the rotating platform. Hope this help you. All the best!
Extra info cause why not, getting a power-up when in those glitched states will grant random effects. It can be crash, random sprite can spawn or even mario gets another glitched states!
@@TBiscuit1 Hi TBuiscuit 1! Actually, it is quite robust, if you know what you do! For example, at PS 38, a mushroom or a fire flower will ALWAYS give you a 1up in the item box. Still at PS 38, collecting a 1Up will always give you a Yoshi in the item box. see ua-cam.com/video/gr5MB1HNwgU/v-deo.html. But you're right in the sense that for the vast majority of PS/Powerup items, it leads to game crashes... Thanks for the comment!
on PS 48 u can collect a cape feather and it will put one of those bubbles that you find into your reserve box. then you can use it even above water!!!
Hi Eliseu! Great question but I don't think so... It would be awesome though! Here is a list of the possible items that can be unintendedly spawn in the item box: smwspeedruns.com/Unintended_Sprite_Spawning. However, only a few of these possibilities actually work... All the best!
Is there a way to know which PS you are at by reading the game's memory? Ive been doing PI for a few hours but have no idea where Im at since I never counted.
I'm sorry, I really don't know the internal of smw. I only play on my console. For me, I just compared the appearance of Mario with already known and shown PS. That's why I did these videos showing all 256 PS. I know that there are differences between Japanese and US smw when it comes to the rendering of Mario at unintended PS. That's why I plan very soon to show all 256 PS of US smw, so you can know where you are... in the meantime: ua-cam.com/video/nbKBBXdoflc/v-deo.html. Cheers!
bro lowkey i was doing powerup incrementation and earlier i got this deep purple one but i've seen no one else talk about it. also sometimes it just straight up doesn't work. maybe it's a switch VC exclusive one (since it does modify the palette a bit)? anyway i made a meme with it lol
Which deep purple one? like PS 8 or PS 9? When you say the powerup incrementation does not work, what do you mean? the game crashes? or Yoshi spits the null sprite and nothing happens? thanks for the question!
The Unintended Gamer its just you won't get it to work even though it's on the right spot. either crashes or nothing happens when you spit out the sprite
