Today is Tania Parenzee's 39th death anniversary and also Bradley Parenzee's birthday. She died on his birthday, do you still remember that tragic day?
@@CatMommaJI will never forget that day. We were playing cricket when salie came running out the bush in tears. We were digging and digging and such a sad day indeed.
@@skollittie Ja all I remember she was wearing that red tracksuit...gosh my dad came home like 8pm, tears in his eyes, and said, "she's gone". I can still see his face today 🥺 I asked him, "is Tania okay, is she alive?" And he just shook his head and said, "no child. She's gone". We all cried that night.
I lived in Westridge from 1979 to 1983-ish. It was clean, safe and I could walk to Ridgeville primary school... I left Cape Town and decided to take a trip down memory lane in 2017. I felt saddened at how it looked. Though I have happy memories, I also have sad ones... I remember one day in Sub A, a Kaspar filled with smiling caucasian troops shot teargas into the schoolgrounds and using us as target practise for their well aimed shots. I recall thinking we must be evil for these people to hate us that much, but I couldn't figure out what we did to be classed as evil. I feared them. Today, I'm 48. And my best bud is one of those who once oppressed us. We chatted about it a few times... He told me that he feared us - it was drilled into him. We can't change the past. But we can rebuild together.
Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. There are still many who choose not live anywhere else, especially the elderly, because they hold onto the good memories and still appreciate the familiar surroundings.
@@barric589 Hi Barric, Thanks for sharing. Where did you get this video? Which website or database? I'd like to see the full video or more video clips of Westridge if possible?
