Ray I have been crabbing the Broadwaters since the late 50s my Dad Doug Donaldson his dad Jack and his dad James have fished the area since 1880s. Right now the crabbing is not as good as it could be; due to an oozie black slimy weed along the bottom. It clings over your baits and crabs dont like it one bit. I have been crabbing the Davo channel now for a few years and find I need to keep moving to new spots after catching one or two crabs. It may have picked up after the last heavy rains, but I also note the growing numbers of moored boats; many of which are constantly shedding anti foul paint into the waters. I dont think with the restricted bar entrance around half tide rocks that enough tidal change is possible or happening to remove crap out of the system. Any clues here Ray?
