Quick question that just crossed my head. If I was to connect my dump pipe a similar way, would I have issues with wideband readings if it's installed after they connect together?
Not at all. the reading is still the same as the exhaust gas has left the cylinder head so It wont make any difference , a full exhaust system will get you a better cleaner tune any way as its more sealed from the outside oxygen

Cool vid - these vitara builds were cool 16 years agp but you can buy a junkyard K24a2 for $1100 that will hold 600whp without worrying about the head lifting - plus using a beefier Ep3 trans to handle more torque loads
If u can’t swap it yourself tho k series swap is like 5 grand done properly..then another 5k to boost…and another 5k to make the engine last more than a decade
@@skizzydagod1118 Its not that expensive anymore and 15k all in is dirt cheap - boosting a K is the same price as a D when done right so thats a wash - theres a slight premium for the engine/trans combo but everything else is going to be similar price for similar power goals. You can make 200whp pretty cheap on a D series with boost but a bolt-on K24 will be faster. To get past 225whp on a D youll need to build it and even then youll need to pin the sleeves to hold any real power. Youll need a cam for top end. valvesprings etc By the time you add it all up youll see why a K is easier, more reliable at 450-500whp and spools WAY faster on the street vs a D that can make 500whp lol. There are basic street k24s offered for 1000whp .....link me to a street D series doing that lol Wont happen Youll hit a ceiling with the D after sinking all that money in when similar money will net you far more reliable, streetable power with a k24a2 - millions of K motors out there

I will check it out bro
I don't think it's a d series problem I tuned a car piston rods valvetrain a stock cam basic ARP had no problem at 20 psi pump 91 made like 350 to the wheels lasted two different owners and one really beating it hard was machined properly with comectic gasket cracked a sleeve before lifting the head
hmmm thats interesting, mine lifted almost immediately, maybe your tuner knew not to give it much timing
@@TURBOTRISTO I tuned it I was running around +16 on 20 psi it was 9:1 compression on 91 pump maybe the machine shop made a mistake when they did the work the only ones I've tuned that blew head gaskets where stock but I feel like it's to be expected
@@hseriesonlymonctonnb1181 every one in australia tells me they have lifted their heads several times on various d16 builds, I honestly don’t know what to think any more haha
You dont need a whole lot of power to have fun, im sure this lil single jingle is a blast to drive. Im thinkin bout just turbo'in my 88 toyota celica that got a twin cam 3sfe camry engine on low boost lol hope it doesnt blow but, not a whole lot of aftermarket for toyotas here in the states like honda unless I save up and get 3sgte. Cool build man, I love seeing people build engines people usually wouldnt build.
Do it bro it will be a ripper
Hi mate were did you get the coil on plugs I could do with some for my sohc f20b engine 😀
Elusive racing
Quick question that just crossed my head. If I was to connect my dump pipe a similar way, would I have issues with wideband readings if it's installed after they connect together?
Not at all. the reading is still the same as the exhaust gas has left the cylinder head so It wont make any difference , a full exhaust system will get you a better cleaner tune any way as its more sealed from the outside oxygen
What muffler is on this one? I’m going similar setup with a tad smaller turbo
the rear muffler is a ktuned unit, it might be a ktuned tip on a vibrant muffler or a complete ktuned rear muffler, the exhaust was custom made by elusive racing and uses vibrant flex joints and other items like the bends and flanges
Should run a turbo guard. Don't want to destroy the engine or that turbo with any trash.
most defiantly

Thanks man, he spent way to much but he is happy with it and now it’s bullet proof, all the stuff was done at elusive racing
@@TURBOTRISTO thats good if the results is good and it will last for long time. So, its not appropriate for me to replace due to oil seal leak
@@8thgear yes you must fix all the oil leaks

Hey man figured id throw this out there the newer d17 valvecover fits on a d16 and has the coilpack studs. I recently saw a 400hp d16 running that cover and tons of other ridiculous mods like d2b trans e85 and water to air intercooler etc. He was making 800hp apparently but kept lifting the head due to the small headstuds.
Also figured id throw out there that theres billet water necks available pretapped for coolant sensors

TURBOTRISTAN I have a 2000 Civic EX, 5 speed, with the D16Y8. I'm building it for racing. Please tell me everything about that coil on plug set up? I need to know what brand that is, and the bracket. Thank you.
You can use coils from a d17 from 2002 civic, and there are speed factory and maybe hondata also, hit up elusive racing for more info
Cool vid - these vitara builds were cool 16 years agp but you can buy a junkyard K24a2 for $1100 that will hold 600whp without worrying about the head lifting - plus using a beefier Ep3 trans to handle more torque loads
Junk yard k24a3 is what we get here I’m building one now check out my newer videos
If u can’t swap it yourself tho k series swap is like 5 grand done properly..then another 5k to boost…and another 5k to make the engine last more than a decade
@@skizzydagod1118 my turbo k on a stock internal k24 will cost me nearly 20k done
Youll need a cam for top end. valvesprings etc
By the time you add it all up youll see why a K is easier, more reliable at 450-500whp and spools WAY faster on the street vs a D that can make 500whp lol.
There are basic street k24s offered for 1000whp .....link me to a street D series doing that lol Wont happen
Youll hit a ceiling with the D after sinking all that money in when similar money will net you far more reliable, streetable power with a k24a2 - millions of K motors out there

So the COP conversion basically just leaves the dizzy as a cam sensor? I hope someone makes a low-profile cap to make the whole unit smaller after gutting it.
yes thats correct there are a number of options the d16y8 also features a trigger wheel on the crank pully from factory, but there are heaps of options, obviosly the more sensors you have the better

I'd love to see a cheap build H23 swap with either a big low blow turbo or a Jackson racing blower fitted into a similar year Civic. Not many people do stuff with the H-series, and it's a big lump of a motor, but they do seem to spin up a turbo well.
They sure do, I love the H series in australia they only came in 1 model really and there are little to no aftermarket parts for them so the cost goes wayyyy up that one reason why a KSeries dominates the game, but I would love a H some day
I have a F20B (h2b), 5years now in a eg coupe (ej1) I think about the supercharger route but the setup make a lot of tq N/A it’s a stock motor with bolts ons made 207whp 151tq. A lot of wheel spin even with 23 slicks. Imo its hard to boost this swap and get it to traction. #1 problem.

I have a stock y8, with a lot of miles, and have been debating this for a while.
compresion test it and if its all even slap a turbo on it, dont bother wasting money on a vitara build, it will be a waste of time and money, the stock engine will handle 250-300hp, if it blows up then k or b swap it
What do you need to do the conversion to coil on plug and eliminate the distributor?
you need the bracket or a d17 rocker cover , the coils, the wiring and the ecu outputs to make it run I believe, and or the the dizzy from a d17, you may need a crank trigger also, TBH im not 100% best to look up a kit on line
