- VLOG 330 01/27 Day 4 of my Return to Cambodia "vlogumentary" series. Today I'll be attending the first of 2 weddings this weekend. Traditionally Khmer weddings last for several days but in modern times, 2-3 days is the norm. The ceremonies consist of several rituals and many costume changes but most importantly, it's a time for friends and family from all over the province to gather and celebrate!

Apologies if there are any errors in my wedding ceremony descriptions. I'm not an expert on them and finding detailed information on the internet was tough.
Yeah I don't get it either why do you wanted to air those song and why do you wanted the whole neighborhood to hear it so are annoying and inconsider
You need to check out inside cricket might had tap worm.
Your "short films" are amazing. Ive been hunting for a long time for content like this on Cambodia. My vlogs are mainly me just doing my normal d2d stuff. I would love to commit to making a short film here soon. Keep up the great work. Respect
Thx friend I’m enjoying your videos also. Takes me back to my time in srok Khmer. I miss it...feels like home.
I love some of the shots you added at the end. Really great, compelling filming.
Thank you for making the videos for us Khmer people to enjoy, not too many people out there that would take their time and effort filming our great Khmer empire. So so proud.........Keep up the great work!
She's beautiful
I get a lot of good information from your videos but mostly I get a feeling of the warmth of Cambodian people and especially Cambodian families. Keep on filming, Sir!
Love your stuff. Super authentic.
Few years back I visited Assam.
Which is in North East India.
The marriage there and the marriage you showed here matches perfectly.I mean ranging from cooking place to taking out a kind of procession to fill water from river or any water source with drummers beating drums and playing music inside the wedding hall,it's almost same. And north eastern people looks similar to Cambodians.
They are really unique than other people from other parts of India.l really love north eastern india and preferred it the best among any other places in India.Hope I can travel soon to Cambodia and enjoy their culture too
Thats because us Khmer are aborignal to South and Se-Asia. Austro Asiatic mean South Asian origin in Old Latin....
Meghalaya people they are the same with Cambodia people
The Khmer people are of Indian descent. That ancestry and culture is being erased by a certain people from the east.
Another great video bro. That was really awesome that the guy on the motorbike recognize you from UA-cam, what a small world for-real.
Outstanding!!!!! I love these Cambodian vlogs I'm so glad you went back. Maybe it's time for a Pixel 2 phone with the real time translation.
I was very entertained through out your whole vlog, thank you for sharing. I recently went back late last year too , funny I’ve been searching all through UA-cam to find vlogs mentioning my husbands hometown Svay Sisophon and came across yours and I definitely can relate to the lack of Khmer when I went back I would say my understanding was 90% and my speaking was 10% lol.
Thank you 🙏 Savi, it’s amazing!!!
I lived in Cambodia for 5 years I love it. food music. Great people they work hard and enjoy life the wedding s are great time
Beautiful thank you for sharing!!
I stumbled upon your channel. Fell in love with your vlogs. keep up the good work!
THANK YOU so much for this in depth in Cambodian and Thai. There are just so few authentic, English vloggers of Asian descent recording these moments for us to watch. Usually it's white guys going to Asia and I just don't want to watch that because you miss so much due to them not being entrenched in the culture. These moments are great because they will always long after tradition and culture change. THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHH!!!!
sooo cool! you get recognized!! I'm getting more excited to go go visit
me too
Cambodia has amazing friendly people. And it shows best outside the cities . I really enjoyed seeing all of the people having such a good time (the food and drinks helped no doubt).
Wonderful vlogs, Savi! I hope to retire in your country in a few years...
Great video! Amazing work! I can't wait to visit this beautiful country!
amazing video to watch thanks for sharing , it brings things that we may never get to see otherwise
Beautiful wedding
I LIKE YOUR CAMBODIA ADVENTURE VLOG..! Bang Savi - ((Merci beaucoup = Thanks so much from Canada!! :-))
Well done Khmouy Savi! I can see now you have quite a few of fans and you still have me, the old local one.
One remark: a Turkish loo is far better than a hole in the ground with a spade, a bottle of water and an umbrella in the night of 1995....
I AM glad you are just observing and no comments as yet made. That's the right way to see..
Do continue on Khmouy.
I'm very curious about life in Cambodia. and your video answers my curiosity. Thank you
thanks for your videos ,, i never knew much about Cambodian life style before , but i starting my South Asian venture later this year . Thanks again
Great video. I like weddings in some rural places, Cambodians have some beautiful traditions.
I found your khmer speaking is cute..I wish my son can speak khmer. Love all your cambodia vlogs.
damn I sweaaarrr that house that you was in look exactly like my uncles house I stayed at when I went to Cambodia a few years ago!! Those same exact chairs, and how there aren’t really any walls but just wooden support pillars
I have been to Cambodia many times,,,,,I love it there !! Great vid.
good video...I miss cambodia.
Phnom Penh was my birth place. Love Combodia from Canada
Much love to you I love the Khmer. I'm half Filipino and my 2nd wife is cambodian. She is my heaven
Sisophon is my birth place where I was born and raised. I went to Sisophon high school long time ago. It looks so much different today and back in my legacy time.
wait so long brother and nice vlog
nice...
Great Videos Buddy.Love Them. What a Beautiful Bride and Handsome Groom.
Growing up, I had many Cambodian friends. Very nice people.. I love the food. My favorite dish is kau.
Beautiful people.
Natural place..great
Sorry if I being rude my name is woody and I been following your vlogs for a while and I like how you record your video even though you can't speak Khmer that well but at least you are trying and I respect that don't get me wrong because I don't see much Khmer people doing this all the time so keep it up what you doing ok...
It's not rude, thank you for watching...and main reason I made these videos because I was looking for videos about Cambodia and could not find any except old ones by white folks visiting tourist locations so I decide that I need to make these to fill that gap and also to learn more about my roots. I wish I could speak better but even my dad told me that our khmer family enjoys teaching me and if I spoke too much khmer I probably wouldn't be so special to them :)
May I ask how old are you if it ok with you because one of your video you say about 5 things about you where you were born but you never mention how old are you...?
I envied the photo session. All members of the family were happy, laughing, enjoying. The bride's gown was carried by 3 other women. The last party & dancing was awesome.
Savi is officially UA-cam famous!
I have looked at several different weddings across the world and they all have one thing in common....good food, drinks and beautiful brides. :D
Reminded me of my uncles’ weddings in the early 90’s.
I remember my wedding in Cambodia , I was 21 and my wife 19 , 10 Years later with 3 kids and we are still going strong but the wedding though .... the ceremonies seemed like forever ... I believe it was 3 days long if I'm not mistaken ... it was well worth it though , I miss Cambodia !!! Love your vlogs btw , keep up the great work bro
I've always treated "3" as my magic number but learned it is also associated with the 3 jewels of buddhism...so that's why they choose 3 days (and also there's so many ceremonies!). Now most wedding in both US and Cambodia usually only 1-2 days, but it's still very long!
Savi You My parents told me that during their wedding I believe the ceremonies lasted 5 to 7 days if I'm not mistaken .
I think that green vegetable in the soup is ta-kuon? It fun following your adventure.
Its similar with Indonesian traditional Wedding, we all are from same race ( Melayu / Malay ). And we all live at poor country lmao
This was where I had my wedding photos taken .... Lol....The bridge at 14:27 , that was one of the more memorable spots that I remember taking wed pics at .... it's called suon sneah
woah!! how pretty is she!
Hi :)
Can you do a documentary about Cham, please? :)
Thank you !
Thank you for this video. The bride is my niece.
Cool vlog bro
I believe we cross paths the village near bovel, I stopped at a local off road pobaw and katew spot in mid September 2017, if not maybe haha I great coverage authentic
Sisophon is my home town
Respect Cambodian culture. Respect from Indonesia 🇮🇩.
Great vedio Bro
Great video have a safe trip back home. How long you stay in Cambodia?
Bride is soo beautiful my good wishes are with both bride and groom .
I thought the same too!
It's very interesting. I watched some other videos about Cambodia before which gave the image that Cambodians mostly use forks and spoons
We do use forks and spoon when we eat. But we also use chopsticks too because Khmer people love to eat noodle soup.
beautifull bride
Cambodian people...we love our reverb during speeches lolol hahahahaha
Introduced your Mother's land culture. . That is good idea....
Hi, I am from India (Tamilnadu) y's Cambodian culture & marriage so glorious! 👏🙏 and your originality culture must connect some kind of ceremony, good 🇮🇳🇰🇭
I'm doing a social studies project and I come from a mixed family my mom side is from cambodia and my dad is carribbean . So I decided to do my mom's country since almost everyone knows about carribbean lifestyle. I want to show my class the history and lifestyle of Cambodian people!
♡ Sraleanh anak teangoasaknea.♡ (I love you) (in Cambodia translated)
I Like You.. Savi - I Like Video you
Nice
Love from India to all Cambodians.❤️
Watching the meal at the end i'm wondering if the children were waiting on the guest to finish their meal before grabbing a portion/share of yours? Trying to remember my childhood, i think we always ate at a separate table or always pulled a portion off from the adult's meal. Kinda interesting to see the separated family style meal.
the bride is very beautiful. lucky husband ;)
all the best to them
She's so beautiful 👌👌👌
❤️❤️❤️😘
That's a big weddings big places
A lot like my own wedding! I am an American who lives just over the border in Thailands Buriram Province. My village is Khmer speaking. Cool Videos!
Crazy thing is that weddings are happening every other day ! I remember getting invited to 4 weddings within the month I went to visit last year
for sure, I was invited to 3 other weddings while I was there
She's so beautiful 👌👌👌
❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
omg i understood everything you said here i thought i lost 90% of my khmer 😩 i’ve still pratically lost 50% because i have a serious problem with coming up with the words and creating a sentence but i can understand what people say fluently lol
I'm basically the same as you, but it's interesting how much I learn in only a few weeks while I was in cambodia
nice wedding.
I'm from north east india
I am South African ...learning Khmer, hopefully relocate to Cambodia. Our weddings are quite similar. You give cows and a thousands of money to the bridges parents. The wedding takes 3 days (Friday - Sunday)
haha so cool the guy on the street recognised you xxx from london
Whats the "snake" situation like living in the villages ? Is it possible I might run into any ?
I am marrying a Cambodian/American in Vietnam, this is so helpful and I realize I need some serious lessons in khmer
Cambodian traditions and culture is very close to indian. Even in India history book its mentioned that one of the kings fled to cambodia when moguls invaded india.
Love your videos brother, but may i suggest something? You should get gimbal, im trying to watch everything, but a bit shaky...headache :D
Yea I know, I try to be conscious of my shaky cam but sometimes forget. Are you watching on a TV? I honestly don’t really like using gimbals for vlogging because it’s hard to handle when I’m running around and also makes the footage look different...too polished, doesn’t seem authentic if you know what I mean. I do use it when I’m making professional videos.
Savi You true true...other than that its great...i plan to travel to 24 provinces throughout Cambodia. hopefully soon 😂
Danny Bun not to mention when traveling I try to pack as little as possible especially if I’m changing locations a lot, less to worry about. But that’s cool Danny sound like it’s gonna be a nice trip! Sabay tam plov!
Savi You im going in 10 days, but only gunna be there for 2 weeks :( keep up the great work though. be safe
cool
U speak khmer very well
Hey brother, new to your channel but love the life that you are living now. I too, want to quit my job and just travel the world. keep up with the videos and safe travels my friend.
it's not always possible you need a good support system at home to do what I do!
totally agree bro...Im single with no kids and i've saved a little over 75k in the bank... im sure that's a good start!
what is the name of the song you are playing in the back ground from 10:40 ? its really nice
I will live there one day
What was that song at 10:40? Hook it up with the title or link
Tell us about the culture of Cambodia in details, what can be done and not done according to the culture.
Dear sir please orange, Apple, Rum bhutan fruit garden video sending me thanks akash. From Bangladesh.

Tell us the culture shock in Cambodia. The cheap hotel, the cost : food, drink, transportation, etca as back packer
ok, aramai teeee...!
very much similar with north east indian culture

Troy may !!!!!
Those music lol... thats basically your alarm clock.
It was hard to show how loud it really was in an otherwise peaceful village.
