These ladies are incapable of writing a bad song. Watch the entire concert from Teatro Metropolitan from August of 2022. Choke is the video I saw 15 months ago that spiralled me into The Warning rabbit hole. There are so many of their songs that take the listener on a musical and lyrical super rollercoaster ride, with slow build ups, pauses, then extreme pounding cords and bass lines. The Warning is a once in a generation phenomenon. I flew down from Portland Oregon with my daughter to see them live over 3 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs). Warning: you will be innundated by The Warning Army!
The lyric here is dark and hopeless. "Martyrdom is your destiny. Surrender yourself." Its sung in Spanish I think because it wouldn't work in English. Spanish is the right language for this topic. But this lyric reaches out to the listener and grabs you by the throat and takes you to a place where we as humans have all been. It is a masterpiece that will become a standard in the future.
From an early age they have been great writers, there is no song of theirs without a meaning... there is always something of reflection, criticism or something to meditate on. It is the essence of rock, always characterized by saying what others do not say, that's why they will go far.
