We "inherited" an OA Sash from a previous generation of scouting. My daughter hasn't been inducted yet, but expects she will be, and wants to wear the old style sash when she is. Guess I need to figure out how to whiten it back up a bit.
luckily that is super easy! So get some powdered Oxyclean from the grocery store. Mix a scoop of that with warm water and fill a 5 gallon bucket maybe 1/3 of the way full. Soak the sash for a few days then wash it in the washing machine. I have had GREAT success bringing hundreds of sashes back to life with this method. The only thing that will not work here is if someone has signed the sash (like at a NOAC) because the ink will bleed.
Hi, Jason, we spoke briefly at NOAC. I’m a sash collector. I would love to get his information to help me sort and “type” mine. There’s only a little information on the net that I’ve been able to find. I’ve been able to do this with some of mine.
This is a great informative video. I wish Jason had mentioned a total number of the different variations that are out there.
