I love this. I bought the album back in the 70s when I was at university and still remember those lovely riffs when sitting outside, supposedly studying, and drinking a glass of good wine. Filthy and funky in the best possible way.
I lived within walking distance to the 46th Street Rock Palace ( the old Loews Theatre) and every week they hosted a live band. Every time Hot Tuna played, we all waited with baited breath for Papa John to come out. He played with them quite a bit. What a fantastic fiddler. The best ever ❤️❤️❤️
It's been 42 years since i last heard this song. Maaan how time flies. My daddy has this album and i used to listen to this song all the time. Nothing like the old school.

Beautiful, crisp sound ─ terrific, considering the age of your vinyl pressing, which was on Grunt Records, manufactured by RCA on Dynaflex ─ RCA's super-thin vinyl pressings. The pressings saved RCA a ton of money because they used 20% less vinyl, but the sound quality suffered because the dynamic range was also reduced by 20%. RCA phased out Dynaflex in 1977.
Papa john gets down to say the least, filthy funky is way cool, but my favarite is Time out for sex, would have loved to see him live, peace out and rock on
WSDM (97.9 FM) Chicago played this gem in 1971 or 1972. It's great to hear it again, and the vinyl sounds great, too. The occasional "pops" bring back great memories.
I count myself lucky to have seen him in a very small college show with a rocket ass little band, i believe his wife was sittin there too. he was a sparkle of a man , i treasure his work and memory. i seen alot of them , seeing him is up there with runnin my hand round on john lennons rolls.

Youre blessed to have actually known this man. Thnx for your family's involvement in bringing PJC's (& others) gift to the world. His music touched my soul & enriched my life. A true westcoast virtuoso whose offerings still stand the test of time, especially in this new era of pushbutton music

Once at a small venue called Choo Choo's, and once at The Univ. of Arizona's Main Auditorium. A master showman! I wore the grooves off Filthy Funky!
