Fun fact: People make jokes about Ryan’s hard landings but there is no airline in Europe that compares to Ryanair regarding their safety record. Been in operation for more than 35 years and they do more than 2500 flight per day and they never had a single casualty. Probably best safety record in the word as well.
What happens is that as Ryanair has so many planes, it is possible that one in several makes a hard landing ... And if it is in a large airport where there are enough people, at least one of them will record it and upload it. And the people will only pay attention to the bad landing.
@@Zinericks Ryanair planes do land hard quite often though lol. LH in my experience as well, actually. Last time I flew them 4/4 flights had a hard landing without noticeable winds. SK, BA, AF almost always butter it though.
True, but consider that most serious accidents and casualties were before the 90s, when FR didn't exist. Several airlines haven't experienced any casualty over the last 30 years.
To make it more likely the next time, I suggest you choose a middle seat half way of the cabin, on a very packed 3-hour flight, no fast track, and of course bus for boarding!
It's actually genius how Ryanair made their company live in people's head rent free. I never in my life saw a Ryanair TV ad, they don't need any of that, when people hear the name ryanair they immediately think of cheap flights and the masses of Europe flock to their website to buy tickets. No wonder they are wiping the floor with the bigger national airlines in terms of competition. Gotta love that❤
I might be a bit biased because I’m Irish but I really appreciate Ryanair. I personally have never encountered an issue with them and they have enabled me to travel a lot more than I would have if flying with e.g. Aer Lingus. They might have the occasional hard landing but I will take it!
I remember being on a Ryanair flight back to Dublin from Liverpool. Between match-goers and stag-weekenders, the plane was packed with drunken clowns, giving the attendants a hard time. But they all took it in good humour, some giving as good as they got. I have no beef with Ryanair at all, though Michael O'Leary tends to rub people the wrong way with his antics. He's like a heel manager in wrestling, there to generate heat and get people talking. Ultimately it puts bums on seats.
We're flying multiple times a year with Ryanair, and sometimes with Wizz'air. Honestly, the landing depends of the weather conditions and the pilot in charge, so not Ryanair as a company. Besides the respect of the Priority boarding which they sometimes ignore, we never had issues. In my last 2 flights the crew also called for a doctor, but we could make it to our destination. Knowing we pay less for the tickets than other company's, and knowing the crew is also getting paid by the onboard sales, I always consume a drink and some snack as a way to support them.
Good to see you back in videos Gabriel. Your one hour Ryanair flight did what it was supposed to do, get you there without breaking the bank. Like a bus line there certainly are many people needing this type of travel! The 737 has been Boeing’s money maker!
Flew twice with Ryanair now and had no issues whatsoever. Both flights were 737 max 8, landing was smooth as butter, little to no turbulence. Very comfortable flight, the pilots are amazing for doing such a skilled job.
Flew with Ryanair for the 1st time in March to see friends in Spain, very happy with the service etc everything is very clearly priced and explained during booking..booked again to go to Rhodes....if it gets me where i need to be its good for me.
A great video, nicely presented, informative, I love the choice of music, and the quirky observations - I have no idea what that’s for or if it’s the same kid. I’m from an Irish background and I’m proud of Ryanair. To think they are operating domestic flights in far distant parts of Europe. I’ve flown on Ryanair many times. Great fares and service, rarely late, only one hard landing. Thanks for this and the marvellous Greenland videos.
I fly RyanAir regularly, on a route they compete for with Aer Lingus (BHX-DUB). The biggest thing they have going for them is their ruthless efficiency. They get you checked in fast, on the plane fast, off the plane fast, and get your bags to you fast on the other side. Whilst Aer Lingus use a nicer terminal and have slightly nicer seats, they still ask you to pay for coffee and the whole experience is just less efficient, often leaving you waiting in long queues for ceck-in, waiting for bags, boarding, deboarding etc. The flight I often get is the MAX8-200 and it's quiet, comfortable and the legroom is acceptable. I often pay extra for Seat 2A as this gets you 3m of legroom and no bulkhead in front of you, plus a window seat with (weirdly) direct aisle access. Best seat on the plane. I often choose RyanAir over the Aer Lingus simply for this reason. They make the whole travel process a whole lot smoother.
As ex-cabin crew, the SAS-branded deposit box looks familiar to me. I believe it would be where the money/documents would be dropped into using the barcode secure document envelopes. After disembarking as crew, we would seal up the charity collection money, then drop off at one of these deposit boxes at LHR, LGW, and MAN. There was another deposit bank that would accept our duty-free cash and print out a little receipt. Kinda like an ATM!!
Exactly what I thought when I saw the ATM-ish box. I was a flight crew member for Continental Airlines and we were required to deposit alcohol sales paperwork and money at the end of each trip.
Yeah I'm ex-BA but it does look like the kind of machine which accepted our duty-free cash and documents. I don't think cash payment is a thing these days at BA tho. Don't know about SAS ! 🌈
I travelled on a Ryanair Max 8 200 from Modlin to Stansted. It was okay, the seats were a bit hard and the legroom a bit tight. But it was fine for a 2 hour flight. Comfort is only an issue if you're on a long haul flight.
Flew Ryanair recently. Totally acceptable, incredibly kind crew. As a normal Virgin, United, and BA flyer, I have absolutely no troubles flying Ryanair again.
My experience of Ryanair and I have flown with them probably a couple of hundred times is that their landings are no better or worse than other airlines. Without this airline I definitely would not have been able to visit all the European countries that I have visited

All quite true! The hate is almost like a game people play at this point, and that Ryanair plays back. Take a look at their social media, they're intentionally harsh and sassy with people. But it turns out if you actually fly them, it's really not like that (and even the hard landings thing is just a special kind of running joke at this point). Meanwhile the referenced dread is among most people who hear about the Max 8-200 specifically, and how dense they've made it. But like in the case of the hate, when you actually fly it, you realize it's really not so bad. As we did!
When it's a rookie at the helm, it's definitely safer to land hard than light... especially in the Nordic countries. Wish I had a chance to try out BRA's 146... sigh...
Again, a no earning flight??Is it really worthwhile to illustrate a midday flight to Northern Sweden, from one empty airport to another. What is it like in Christmas/New Year???
The toilets at the rear are very narrow, and the legroom is poor if you're 6 foot. Why don't they make the rear of the seat from soft plastics for the poor knees.
Do all of Ryanair's feet of 737's have built in air stairs? I've noticed on other videos and pics whenever deboarding onto tarmac they have the their own stairs at the front. Is this just on routes whoever the airport is smaller and doesn't have a jetway?
All of them. AFAIK Boeing were going to drop the option until FR asked for them on a massive -800 order. Generally FR don't use jetways, even at gates that have them. I'd imagine possibly in Nordic countries in winter as we see here they may do. Usual practice is upon arrival deploy the front built in stairs so disembarking can start whilst air stairs are driven to the rear so 2 doors used for planing/deplaning
Top marks for choosing a relevant sample here... (Paying for one of the 6 seats that isn't totally unbearable and then declaring that means ryanair flights are good).
Whats the point fo doing a review like this then choosing the bulkhead? Makes no sense to test a high density aircraft then choosing the row with most legroom.
Ils disent que ryanair est avion qui tremble beaucoup durant le vol , et lors de plus faible turbulences, on croit l'avion tomber !! Qu'est ce que vous pensez sur ça ??
I also appreciate Ryanair, and find the Max8/200 really comfortable. The quiet engines makes the aircraft noticeably better than the old 800s. I know that a lot of people love to hate them probably just because they think it makes appear them as cool 'a cut above' people 😂
Got to be honest i want to defend Ryanair lol no nonsense airline, keep within the rules and your all good. Whilst there policies appear strict actually when your at the gate the staff aren't really bothered. As for the hard landings.... To be fair to the pilots it's somewhat part of there training, firm landing ensure good braking action etc, plus they hate go-around cos go-around cost money🤣 The 737 is notoriously hard to land compared to a320 for example. Faster approach speeds, smaller landing gear struts. And Ryanair first officers tend to be pretty new to the game also Anyway that's my two pennies worth lol
Not really a fan of bulkhead window seats because there's nowhere to put your carry-on in front of you, but an aisle seat would be tolerable I guess. How much extra did you have to pay to get the bulkhead though? From what I've seen, on these airlines by the time you add all the things you need onto the base fare, it ends up costing as much or more than a real airline anyway.
It was all included in their top level fare which as mentioned in the video was about $130 USD. Even adding all the bells and whistles they still tend to come out cheaper in Sweden because "full service" SAS charges you for everything like seats and bags too!
Ryanair's 737 are way more comfortable than ITA's 320s. The only thing stopping me from flying them is that it is often at very inconvenient airports, especially for me since I live in Paris
You can’t compare Bra with Ryan. That competition has Bra already won. Nicer planes, nicer interior and they fly to Bromma which is better than Arlanda.
Ahh, that was sweet ride! Beautiful plane, so it's a budget LCC, that's what people want to pay, right? Ryanair does pretty damn fine by the look of it, such success and growth isn't made by mediocre aviation. Looking forward to the BRA ATR run...one of the most environmentally conciouse airlines, flying a super-efficient turboprop!
I hate Boeing 737’s, I usually have anxiety during flights but its way higher whenever I’m on a B737. I know they aren’t that bad and are a workhorse of aviation with good safety record however, I Lost trust in Boeing as a company when it surfaced that they clearly are gravitating towards profit more than safety. The aircraft model is a big factor when buying airline tickets.
A firm landing is a safe landing. There is no reason to float above and on the runway in order to satisfy the delicate butts of armchair youtube pilots.

MAX is completely fine. Very safe aircraft, as statistics have shown since the ungrounding.
I’m terrified of the Max 8. You are braver than I am. I’ll never fly in one.
Billions will over the next number of years.
Zoli! Szia!
We accept Ryanair flights form the smallest Ryanair plane to the 737 Max!
My Ryanair MAX flight was the worst Ryanair flight I've ever had. So little room for my legs 😟
The stairs looks too outdated and Narrow after landing.
Now try a 12pm flight to Alicante lol
Hehe yes.
Lol you have a secret obsession with Ryanair 🤣
This is true!
To be fair to the pilots it's somewhat part of there training, firm landing ensure good braking action etc, plus they hate go-around cos go-around cost money🤣
The 737 is notoriously hard to land compared to a320 for example. Faster approach speeds, smaller landing gear struts. And Ryanair first officers tend to be pretty new to the game also
Anyway that's my two pennies worth lol
O slamming 🎉!
You can’t compare Bra with Ryan. That competition has Bra already won. Nicer planes, nicer interior and they fly to Bromma which is better than Arlanda.
Smooth landing of Ryanair 737? What?
Ahh, that was sweet ride! Beautiful plane, so it's a budget LCC, that's what people want to pay, right? Ryanair does pretty damn fine by the look of it, such success and growth isn't made by mediocre aviation. Looking forward to the BRA ATR run...one of the most environmentally conciouse airlines, flying a super-efficient turboprop!
I like MAX because finally seats have better covers. Feels like a Airbus now :) And it's quiet like an Airbus :)
I confess that I watch this video solely because I want to know whether the landing is hard.
LOL
I think I'd do a 737-MAX over a noisy ATR any day of the week.
Always tui for anywhere in Europe.
How can you hate it
The media makes you hate it, but is not bad
I think the BRA should win
no train wins
I swear if a 6 yr old comes into the comment section and says: “tHe 736MaX iS uNsAfE!!1!!” I will give up on this world.
experience is less pleasant on fully pack flight on rear rows, let's admit leg space is under acceptable minimum
Before hard landing: after BUTTER landing
A firm landing is a safe landing. There is no reason to float above and on the runway in order to satisfy the delicate butts of armchair youtube pilots.
Just having a bit of fun!
Any landing that you walk away from is a great landing.🙈
Olá 👋
Venham ao Brazil 🇧🇷😊
Love Ryanair, but fella... sit 15 rows back and review, and on a full flight. You're just an advert, not a review..
