- On July 4, 2021 we made our way again to Tennessee to visit Twin Falls located within the Rock Island State Park in Tennessee. Along the trip we saw several waterfalls. The waterfalls that we would encounter on this adventure did not occur naturally, They are the byproduct of underground runoff from Collins River caused by he damming of the Caney Fork River which is about a mile up the river from our launch point.

Do they shuttle you or do you just turn around and laddle up stream?
@@Jenncollective there was no shuttle service that I was aware of. We paddled upstream to the falls to returning was quite easy.
This place looks so calm and peaceful place place. this is perfect to do kayaking

Incredible rock formations and waterfalls. There are some pretty amazing waterfalls in Oregon but nothing like those!
We want to eventually check out Oregon sometime.
I cannot even handle how majestic these waterfalls are! It must have felt like a fairytale to kyack there!

We launched from a sandy beach next to a boat ramp at Rock Island State Park
When you put in you go right? And where is the launch located within the park?
We put in at Rock Island State Park, then paddled right. When you enter the park just follow the sings to the boat ramp.
I'm new to kyacking but I've been in a few creeks. Is it easier on bigger bodies of water like in this video? Also I noticed alot of times you were keeping to the sides. Is that a standard especially for paddling upstream just like creeks? I live in Tennessee so these places would be amazing to me if I could go there. Anyway thanks and I love your video!
The main thing to be aware of in rivers is the current, and for this river it is best to keep an eye on when the dam is releasing. Since you are in TN I would recommend joining the "Kayaking/Canoeing Adventures of Tennessee And Beyond" Facebook page to find others who enjoy the paddle sport. They would be a great resource for local knowledge on when the best times to go would be.
We tried this paddle today, but the water was so low we couldn’t even get to the 2nd waterfall. Do you know if TVA was generating at Great Falls when you did your trip? I had planned for a time with no generation so they current wouldn’t be as bad, but wondering if that would make a difference in the water level.
I don't think they were letting out any water. When we went there was very little current pushing against us.
It seems they have Center Hill Lake lower than normal, maybe due to lack of rainfall. I think this must be common for this time of year because I’ve read on kayak sites that it is best to kayak that stretch October-July. What a difference a month makes!
