- Among the great composers in India, Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma of Travancore holds an extremely unique and special position. He was and remains one of the few who mastered both the South Indian as well as the North Indian traditions of classical music and who went on to compose exquisite songs in both styles. Despite having physically lived in South India two hundred years ago,, he let his mind and spirit wander all the way to the Vishveshvar Temple in Varanasi! The result was this beautiful composition that describes Kaasi so vividly.
Most people don't sing all the stanzas, but here we get to enjoy Ms.Amrutha Venkatesh, with her top team of Sri M.Rajeev, Sri S.J.Arjun Ganesh, Dr.S.Karthick and Payyannur Sri T.Govindaprasad present the song in all it's glory

Images of the beautiful land of Kashi with its flourishing temple of Lord Visveswar, sounds of vedic chants, copious flow of Ganga and the majestic arti cross my mind as I listen to this beautiful song. This overwhelming feeling is interrupted by a searing pain of the destruction that Aurangazeb would have caused. Thoughts of the damage, the violence and the bloodshed that the Islamic bigot would have inflicted, makes my heart bleed.
