Your own song at the end of this reaction was fire, bro!!! Zesty, but fire! A little dig at you insulting Usher's dance moves. Usher trained in Western ballet at one point, so his moves are ridiculously smooth compared to those of someone like say Chris Brown. Note the ballet flutter step or the solo dancing when the camera was only on him, the front-to-back-to front side-step shuffle move was straight out of the choreography from the ballet Swan Lake.
Usher is almost a decade and a half older than Chris Brown who is in his late 30's, while Usher is almost pushing FIFTY, bro!
Every single song Usher put out for the past few decades has almost always not only entered the billboard top 100, but more often than not, DOMINATED IT!
Remember, there has been only one dancer who was personally asked to come on tour with him and dance and sing with him on-stage, considered pound-for-pound the greatest dancer, singer, and performer in pop music history, none other than the living legend Michael Jackson himself, and Usher was that dancer Michael felt could keep up with him.
Jung Kook as you say is indeed living his dreams out in real-life. He should be honored that Usher decided to collab with him in much the same way Michael Jackson did for him when he was just starting out in the industry.
Sure, Usher was showing off a bit, but also covering his ass to some extent. Did you know Usher flew in for this music video shoot and had all of four hours to try and pick up their well-practiced music video choreography, but not only did he succeed, for most of the choreographed dance moves, he 1-upped the original move by remaining in the air longer, doing the move more smoothly, or adding a bit of extra swag using his wardrobe or accessories like the classic Usher chain spin 360 around his neck. Usher is old-school, when you dance, you typically don't seek to become as synchronized as the Olympics Chinese National Swim Team, you clown the other person on stage with you as a tradition because a dance battle is just like a rap battle or a real battle. You're fighting for your right to remain on top, but even so, a good mid-section of that song he chose to conform to traditional K-Pop Synchronized dancing aesthetic and blend in with the rest of the dancers and Jung Kook.
This is easily not only the best pop/r&b song of 2023, but also the greatest upgrade/remix I've ever heard in years and years. I could not believe how different Jung Kook and Usher danced and sang, and yet their differences did not add up to be a net-negative, this was for me, the first true moment of K-Pop stepping up on stage with American Billboard Pop/R&B and Jung Kook did not disappoint. He made his entire first solo album in a second language rather than his native tongue Korean, and chose to slightly abandon his traditional conformed K-Pop manufactured image and reinvented himself with a more brash, audacious American aesthetic like with the punky short new hair-do, getting his right sleeve tatted out and filled, and choosing to use American cuss words in his new tracks, none of these things would fly in South Korea.
Tbh, I feel badly for most K-Pop stars, y'all are way too rigid with your idols, you don't ever allow them to have a chance to adapt or to evolve for better or for worse the way Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera or Madonna or Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus were allowed to do, going through sexualized stages or mature classic stages or art stages, etc.
Sorry for the Tolstoy novel, you just got me waxing philosophically and being nostalgic culturally on modern pop/hip-hop/r&b, where it came from, what it's doing, and where it's going, and trust me, Jung Kook absolutely belongs in that conversation. He didn't settle for just being that one guy in a K-Pop boy band supergroup, his hunger for greatness was so large he decided to step boldly into the US music market, the largest market in the world, and not only set foot into that ring, but get a 1st round knock-out.
