I was a combat engineer back during hurricane Katrina helping with a relief efforts and I’m disgusted in the response. we were ready to go in the day after the storm left but we had to wait two days but we still were there within a reasonable response time. all the construction engineers battalions should be heading there right now with the relief effort, Fort Bragg is right around the corner with Chinook and Blackhawks that can train to move logistics this is a perfect training exercise that helps people but we’re not doing anything. FEMA Should be establishing cash points for food and water and the engineer should be clearing the roads and reestablishing mobility. That’s what we do.
