Because my Starfield mod was a bit buggy at launch (most of my mods are as they start out as experiments/beta) I didn't want to promote my mod until I had it in a good state. It's not focused in the SD specifically but rather all PCs in general, it's called "SH2 Essentials". Boosts my performance by 16% with no quality loss (image actually looks better). If you're using a Steam Deck or similar machine I recommend giving it a try.

To be fair the opening forest area tanks the framerate on PS5 as well. I’ll wait a bit to see if the rest of the game holds up at 30fps on SD. Particularly for the “otherworldly” sections.
@@christophersullivan7273 yeah I bought it and played 5h as well. The otherworld is very hit or miss. It seems to constantly load in the background somehow, to the point I suspected a memory leak. Considering the game can be extremely well behaved (and rather good looking on the small screen) in a good number of places, I hope they can improve things for lower end hardware. Performance is all over the place, from 10 to 50fps.
UE5 is significantly more beneficial to devs. They are able to use Lumen, etc to dev games cheaper and faster which makes sense because game dev take so long now

Unlocked fps will always use more power(unless you use frame generation, locking fps can also use less, but unless fps is not reaching the lock, it will increase input lag), so you would only get that low(18 watts) and lower if you locked fps or lowered tdp

What a shame. The Stream Deck can handle games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of us 1 n 2 but can't handle a remake of a linear game like Silent Hill 2...
Honestly everything on low and fsr balanced (with TXAA and sharpening) doesnt look bad at all. Normally I hate these upscalers cause they look blurry af. Still gonna play the game on my pc but steam deck isnt a bad experience.

At this point, it is virtually indistinguishable from the PS2 release, but has better performance and less input latency than emulating the PS2 release. Every game that is UE5 has had problems on Steam Deck because the hardware is built more for Xbox One/PS4 era of games (or cross-gen games) and UE5 cannot be played on these consoles without major performance problems. We need a Steam Deck 2 now that is equivalent to Xbox Series X and PS5 level of performance.
@@khroxas The OLED has some good things about it, but it should be accompanied with an APU upgrade as well, which Valve could have done because they did not want to start a whole new Verified program again for a new Steam Deck with a new APU in it. The major problem now is the APU on the OLED and LCD has already fallen behind on these latest games now, but the Steam Deck wasn't meant for the latest games (like UE5 games), but unfortunately I don't think Valve can keep marketing that to people, they should market these handhelds to work with the latest gen games coming out now as well, which is what people want the PC handhelds for really now. Most people who do not do their research enough think with the Steam Deck and other handhelds is that if its being released on the platform in general (Steam in this case) it should run on the Steam Deck but Valve never promised that for every game. People complain that the game isn't optimized for the Deck, where the real problem is that the hardware is no longer keeping up with the latest games now.
Valve value battery life and portability. We are nowhere near a Deck 2. The windows machines have shown that current APUs need 20-30 watts to run these titles, and you only get an hours play time. That's not what the deck is about.
Steam deck is doing immensely better than all its handled competitors combinded. Valve sells these systems at a loss because they know people will buy games on steam with it. With the LCD you can easily find a 64GB or even a 256GB model for $250-380. You won't find a PC, let alone a handheld PC at that price with a performance anywhere in the same ball park as the steam deck.

Apparently you can unlock FSR 3 and XeSS with Steam Deck = 0 %command%
you can. And with FSR3 set to balanced and details set to low it runs with about 40fps. Still plays and looks great

I haven’t unlocked FSR 3 but with FSR 1 on performance preset, if mostly holds 30fps until the other world. Then it really starts struggling.

I’m 5 hours in on Steam deck. The other world really takes a toll. FPS hovers in the low 20’s

UE5 is such a waste of resources for a miniscule upgrade to fidelity

matter of that fact that it sill runs on SD in incredible! This game is so badly unoptimized even 4090 struggling.
This just makes me dream of a parallel universe where this uses RE Engine and runs at 40fps using ~18W.
