Btw i really enjoy watchin ur interpretations, theyve opened up my mind to a new way if thinkin tht my teacher was actually encouraging me towards but i never truly understood: to be open minded and look beyond the visible movements nd see potential applications the original masters locked away.
angus mcgherkinsquirt Hi Angus, Nish is doing great work, it is good the video's are making you think and question. All the best in your training. Steve
Combatives is an art u created rite? I mean no disrespect, its just that i notice u r disecting the form to unravel secrets very differently from my teacher mike. Quick question, why block hooks with that movement since the opponent can dislocate joints with the high elbow as leverage, couldnt u just use yum yearn movement. Plus the move in the first form is dun low elbows down to teach keepin closed form isnt it?
Hamza Islam Oh no!! combatives is not my art I am not trying to recreate a new system. This is my journey and interpretation of southern mantis which is an effective fighting system. Our teachers provide a direction to begin the journey, however we all have different abilities and preferances of techniques. If you keep to the concepts of fighting and train hard and realistlcly the system (which ever you do) will not let you down. Though, a end of of the day, there can only be one winner in combatives. There can be many interpertation of a technique, I have given some of mine but this is by no means everything. The hope I had when asked to demonstrate my ideas is that it opens our eyes to other possibilities in the form..
Excellent opening side elbow and step in to block a hook, very simple but powerful movement that leads into a strike
