I think of myself as a decently big dinosaur nerd, but I had actually never heard of gigantoraptor before this. Really cool! Can’t believe that a huge oviraptorosaur like that slipped through my fingertips until now.
It needs to be said how much of a godsend your videos are to paleoartists. My work has improved greatly because of things that I’ve learned in your videos that I consider every time I draw a dinosaur now. Whenever I draw a dino you’ve done a video on, I watch it while I work and it comes out better than I could believe. Love love love your content, keep up the amazing work!
I imagine there aren't a lot Deinocheirus toys because we had no clue what it looked like for the longest time. It was just "mysterious dinosaur with really big arms" for almost my entire childhood.
The rearing Barosaurus trope is based on the one in the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. I actually got to see it in person after seeing it in books all my life. And it’s actually made to be rearing up against an attack from an Allosaurus.
I absolutely agree! And if he runs out of dinosaurs I have created free instructions for more builds from the creator set which can be found on rebrickable!
Hi, I am Julian and I was really exited when I realized that you had my package. I didn’t specify, but there was a Spinosaurus animatronic with a broken dentary.
20:56 Hope you like the "Ankylosaurus." Also, there are some inaccuracies with a few of the Beasts of the Mesozoic figures, the Triceratops and Torosaurus have a smooth layer over their frill instead of a covering of scales.
My favorite part of this video is that after not being sure about which the Gigantoraptor was the magnet pack has one in the same pose on the sheet he examines closer. This was a wonderful mail drop love these episodes!
Nice to see yet another mailbag episode from the YDAW team! Keep up the amazing work. I’m still hoping for a future Deinocheirus episode so hopefully I can mail some stuff to you to cover!
10:37 not a coincidence, the colourful yellow one is by GeoWorld, who are famous in the dino toy world for blatantly stealing sculpt and giving them ridiculous neon colours. All of the others in that batch seem to be CollectA or knockoffs of those.
I mean, when you gotta learn English from the ground up you have to memorize our crazy grammar convention. Us native speakers just kinda picked it up when we were 3 or 4 and most of us never look back ahhah
Nice lot of old Procon/Collecta toys at 5:30; those are all from around 2007-2009. Collecta has come a long way since then! Yes, the yellow round-headed theropod would be the Gigantoraptor; despite being an oviraptorid, I've rarely seen this genus depicted with a crest. 13:00 I wouldn't be surprised if the skeletal mount spurred the art meme. There's also a notable painting by John Gurche which that sticker seems to specifically be imitating. 14:20 Is that "Albertosaurus" a knockoff of the old Wild Safari Gorgosaurus?? That would be a new one. 18:55 okay that little take-apart pterosaur is hilarious! 21:18 Ooh! I had a few of those armored dinos! I always figured it was Edmontonia or a similar (it does resemble the Battat Edmontonia). 31:55 SAME; what philistine would say such accursed things?! *lol* 32:35 Arthropleura was a millipede relative from the Carboniferous, and it was the size of a man. BBC's 'Walking With Monsters' and 'Prehistoric Park' featured it briefly. That Velociraptor plush has to be the single most impressive item that's ever been featured in a mailbag video. AND I WANT AN ICKY PLUSH.
They copy eachother by making three molds (two if they just alter the dino and make a master from that) Cut the first mold in half (if it's rubber or silicone) spray a release, put it back together, and pour wax in. Take the resultant wax cast and subtlety change it like bending its tail, make a second mold of the new and improved, cut, clean and release spray then save that as a master to cast another dino to make a set of the third molds for production.
Jurassic Park kinda updated the view of dinosaur for the public from early 20th century to the 90ies. Unfortunately it stayed there for the last 30 years :D.

I work at a target and i swear the number of times i see something and im just like "what if i sent it in to YDAW" im glad other people have the same thought and the ability to go through with it
I've been thinking about sending in that Lego Ideas set since I got my own last year! I spent the entire construction time thinking about how YDAW would rate the new Lego skeletons.
I actually had multiple of the "Ankylosaurus" toys when I was a kid, I thought they were Edmontonia before looking at the underside, I still portrayed them as the latter while playing with them however
OMG I remember the Icthyornis from Land Before Time! He was the villain of the fourth movie, alongside (at least what I think was meant to be) a Deinosuchus.
15:34 Pachycephalosaurus and Gorgosaurus, they’re knockoffs of CollectA and Safari LTD toys, and the Gorgosaurus scared me at first when I saw it on the thumbnail. That thing is really rare so I was so relieved when I saw it was a knockoff.
_Dromiceiomimus brevitertius/samuelli_ ‘Emu Mimic’, a specimen was discovered with two young, and there is a theory that the wide hips meant this genus could have possibly given live birth.
Recognizing that this might be a bit out of your wheelhouse, I was recently introduced to a 1992 Arcade game called “Dino Rex” which I’d love to see your reactions and analysis on. It’s special to say the least.
I’d love to see a video on a megaraptoran of some sort. I’ve been kind of obsessed with them recently because they are just so cool. Another thing is I’m tempted to buy a BotM figure just because I think it’s a travesty you don’t have one yet, even if not for a video
The only problem is that because they're both an obscure and relatively recently formed clade, there's next to no models of them. The only one I can think of is the Australovenator from Australian Age of Dinosaurs, but that's so sought after that it's worth holding onto rather than sending in (plus it's pretty anatomically sound). But yeah, they are really cool and I hope more companies start making figures of them.
Dromiceiomimus brevitertius was quite the star a few decades back, being hailed as the fastest-running dinosaur and whatnot. I thought it had become a synonym of Ornithomimus edmontonicus, but from what I just read, the debate is still on. (Will delete if this is mentioned later in the video, just wanted to give some love to my boy the emu mimic)

The 'Kentrosaurus' is a Lexovisaurus :) the 'ankylosaurus' represents Edmontonia?
Wrong the kentrosaurus is huayangasaurus but huayangasaurus is like a kentrosaurus
