Paul Robeson sang this. His voice expresses the Soviet Union in ways I was told by my parents. There was no segregation in Russia or the USSR. Look no further than Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. He was the grandson of a black man, and he became the Russian Shakespeare. Paul Robeson was treated equal to other Soviet citizens during his time in the Soviet Union. When he came back to the United States after the death of Comrade Stalin, he saw that very little had changed.
But it did change eventually.
Yeah, on the surface. But many people are still discriminated in the States. Not saying the same didn't occur in th USSR (I.E the Russifaction.) But it definitely didn't just disappear here after a while, and we weren't any better then any other nation
"There was no segregation in Russia or the USSR." Neither was there any freedom - for anyone. There were - Gulags, the KGB, mass deportations, purges, secret trials, executions, corruption and mass starvation by the 10's millions. But they had no segregation.
@@Theredcarolinian In the states, if you dont like it than you can move to a different area. Its a hell of a lot harder to move around in the USSR than in the USA. While I'm not gonna be one of those morons with my thumb up my ass talking like the country is perfect, in the USA you work hard and work wisely you can do anything. In the USSR, everyone was equal. Miserable, but everyone (except the politicians.) was equal.
@BaconLover100 That is a fair point. I will say, however, that while yes, we can do almost anything as an American in the States. There is a massive economic hill that you have to climb. So, with the exception of like the top 10-15% of Americans, it is exceptionally hard to get a House and Good College Education here. And very few politicians seem to be keen on fixing that for us. It sucks here, and it also sucked in the USSR. I don't care what the "Tankies" say it wasn't no utopia. However It wasn't third world bad.
So ig in short, Both The U.S and the USSR sucked/currently suck with the U.S. being better off due to a better standard of living.

Free housing, education, treatment, paid vacations at resorts and guarantees that you will not be left without work is not a concern? Not everything was good. Not everyone. A lot of things could have been done better. But believe me, if you compare the social spheres of Russia and the USSR, the difference will be colossal. Life back then was truly much calmer and simpler.
So you shouldn’t just demonize any country where the vast majority of people simply lived for a significant part of its history.
