What myths do you know of about evs?

So, I buy a ev Sprinter van for £75k (!!), fill it with a ton of machinery, 3 lads in front, maybe a trailer on the back and set off on that run to Cornwall. How far am I getting before needing to charge?

How does your MG4 EV have a lifetime warranty, mine doesn't , it had a 7 year warranty? Don't forget about cold weather and the 33% reduction in range. Don't forget about exorbitant costs at public chargers. I have been driving an Ev for 12 years and there's a lot you don't mention or misrepresent. it's not about forecourts but about pump nozzle numbers which equate to chargers.

MG Lifetime warranty excludes the battery 3 years or 60K which ever comes first.

Do you often drive 1000 miles without a break ? Personally I need to stop after 200 miles due to needing to use the bathroom, grab a coffee/something to eat, in that time my Tesla has added another 200 miles of range, it is quite capable of covering 280 miles at 70-80 MPH but anyone that says they need to drive 1000 miles without a stop is either a fool or a fibber

@@stevehayward1854 Most people dont drive 1000 without a stop, but they need to stay less to a charging station. This is a problem if you live in a big city with alot of electric cars and to little time to way. You need more time to charge an electric car than to fill it with gas. More battery => less time spent charging => less anxiety for travel in regions without charging stations.

    Interesting statements right there.
I've been driving a very expensive electric scooter and I can tell you the batteries aren't some magic pixie dust.
I never charge them over 70%, nor use fast charging to extend the life span, yet in 2 years I'm down to half the range I had.
Last time I had a detailed look into EV battery life in 2019, there wasn't many battery packs on a large sedan+ vehicle with over 150 000miles because they failed before that point and you must have them live 250 000 miles to accommodate for 1-2 tons of battery emissions.
Can you show us the data to prove your statements?
Also, the "running cost myth busting" isn't really busting. It's just a subsidy. The society pays your bill, it doesn't mean there is no bill to be paid.
The UK has sky-high energy prices because of the Eco-Fascist craze and Russia's invasion.
In my opinion, the UK needs to adopt the Dutch model of having 40-50% people using a bicycle for commute, it's both cheaper and healthier, also, it gives children a large degree of independence.

I drive Honda diesel, i have range about 1200 km with one tank (55L). And making breakes when and if i need it, not if car need it to charge. About environment, one EV to be produced is making same amount of CO2 as one diesel engine after being produced and driven 80000km. And green energy, or wind turbines are supported with diesel engines. And even like that are not able to produce not even close energy for all EVs. Try to convince me in few years again

As usual, complete nonsense. 1. Range. Try to run your ev outside of US. Feel the pain. 2. Batteries. Check replacement price for any huyndai. And how often do they replays batteries after minor damage. 3. Another idiotic statement. Vast majority of energy worldwide is from coal/gas. 4. No any charging stations around the world outside of us. And almost 0 charging stations are installed where most people actually park their cars. I.e. in the cities next to actual multi flat buildings. 5. Another myth by idiot. Look at any insurance policy. It is much more expensive for ev.

@@Grumpydadwithtech So, you've chosen one of the richest countries in the world, one with very mild climate and extra low average milage. Ok. Lets compare numbers in the UK: Average car sold in UK cost 35k. Average EV car sold in UK cost 46K. Ok, lets go for autotrader and check some used prices. Average tesla model 3 2021 is about 20k. New one (long range 2wd) - 45. 2021 Skoda Superb 17k. New one 35. Both recently updated, so we're comparing apples to apples. I never visited UK, but spent 15 minutes in google and found out that average (for the price of the car) EV costs 30% more to buy and depreciates almost 40% more.
And back to the question about charging stations. You mentioned 10+36k charging stations in UK. Thats for 1.3M cars. Do you know how many petrol stations in UK total? According to google less then 9k. Total. For more then 32M cars, all commercial vehicles and everything else. And still it is not even 1 per parking spot on average. And parking spots are the places where you'd actually want to charge your car since it takes dozens of minutes at best and hours in real life. And you need to hope that previous person is somewhere close to his car to unplug it asap.
And back to cost again, another 10 minutes in google + 5 in calculator. Tesla model 3 consumes around 25kw/100 miles. Which will cost (according to gridservice) from 12 to 20. No idea why there are 2 prices there. Average car with 33 mpg will be 17. Which accidentally is almost average for EV.
So even in the such conditions it is not a solution to anything.
