The rich musical tradition of Bangla folk music has been given a modern sensibility by Paban Das Baul, a master of the dubki and a hypnotic vocalist. Synthesizing Tantric Buddhism, Baishnavism and Sufism, Paban Das Baul has created worldwide attention for his trance-inspiring performances. He is known for pioneering traditional Baul music on the international music scene and for establishing a genre of folk-fusion music.

এক হাতে একতারা আর অন্য হাতে ডুবকি বাজিয়ে গান করেন খ্যাতনামা লোকসংগীত শিল্পী পবন দাস বাউল। বাউল গানের একনিষ্ঠ সাধক পবন দাস বাউল আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে বাউল গানকে পরিচিত করেছেন ও প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছেন নতুন এক ধারার সংগীত। বিদেশের খ্যাতনামা শিল্পীদের সাথে যুক্ত হয়ে, গান শুরু করে প্রকাশ করেন অনেক অ্যালবাম। পবন দাস বাউল গানের জন্য ভারত, ফ্রান্স প্রভৃতি দেশে সফর করেছেন।
সান ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত ‘ঢাকা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফোকফেস্ট’ লোকসংগীতের এক মিলনমেলা। এ উৎসবে বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তের লোকসংগীত শিল্পীদের পরিবেশনায় অসাধারণ সব লোকগান শোনার সুযোগ পায় বাংলাদেশের মানুষ।
