Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in this video we are focussing on Kojic acid.. This is the start of a new series here on the channel so let me know which ingredient you would like me to take about next.. love you all x
Nearly £100 for 1% Kojic acid from allies of skin. For anyone wanting to try a Kojic acid serum try Victoria Health Alpha Arbutin 2% & Kojic 1% serum. It’s only £18
I like the idea of this series. Suggestions would be Rice bran oil - it is often included in face masks supposedly to soothe redness. Also Watermelon seed oil - often used in hair care and skin care, I have been a long time user of that and it seems to work well on my oily rosacea skin and my twin sister has dry rosacea skin and loves it too. I wish more people knew about Watermelon seed oil, it seems to balance well on various skin types and it light, absorbing faster than other better known oils.
Kojic acid seems to work well indeed. A couple years ago I bought a couple bars of kojic acid soap from amazon and noticed evening out in the skin tone really fast! It was amplified even further when I followed that up with a vitamin C serum in a later step of my skin care routine. Chefs kiss
Would love a video that compares all the hyper pigmentation ingredients like Tranexamic, Kojic, Alpha Arbutin, Vit C, Liquorice, Azelaic, AHA acids. Some of them like Azelaic are better for post inflammatory pigmentation while Kojic is better for age spots, Tranexamic for Melasma. Since not all pigmentation is the same, it would be nice to know from someone as knowledgeable as yourself what mix of ingredients we should add to our routine to target specific types of pigmentation. Took me a while to realise that Kojic and Tranexamic was what I specifically needed for dark spots!
Me too. I use it morning and night under my other serums. The funky smell goes away after a few and it works well. I’m the pigmentation queen so I have to be vigilant with treating my pigmentation.
👍🏽 What a great idea for a series!! I have kojic acid on my radar for a while now. It's also in the Transparant Lab PIH Sun Spot Fading Treatment at 1%. I would love a review from you. The INCI list is very exciting. I think you're gonna love it. I already bought it but I have to finish my numbuzin 5+ serum first.😁 For the Focus Friday, maybe bukachiol? 😘
I haven't tried that particular one but I have tried their PIE one n liked the results but I will defo give the kojic acid one a try too ❤ Niche Beauty Lab have a winter sale coming up I believe 🎉
👍 Love this idea for Fridays! I would also like to know your take on the APLB Kojic Acid & Vitamin C line. I have the serum in this line on the way. It does seem a little difficult to get the actual Kojic Acid percentage online but the actual products usually put the PPB in the ingredients so hopefully I can figure it out from there.
👍 oooh yaay for a Friday series love it !! Kojic acid is defo working for me i started using it in the korean skincare serum by Nineless think its called B-Boost its a nice blend of 1% Kojic with 10% Niacinamide 2% Tranexamic 2% panthenol and some Glutathione and Ascorbyl glucoside i found it pretty decent on my post inflammatory hyperpigmentation on my chin area and some sun damage on my forehead.. but i actually LOVE the MAS peeling gel now 2ce weekly my skin glows sooo much the next day 😊😊😊 looking forward to the rest of this series ❤ BitterEndCrew 🥰
Can't wait to start with the peeling gel again! Still using up TO lactic acid. Haven't exfoliated that much in years trying to use it up faster 😂 thankfully my skin can take it 😉 I hope you are well Rob ❤ xx
👍 I like this new kind of series❤ Also I would like to say that since the day you were mentioning Allies of skin I was kind of skeptical and not really interested because of the price point, but lately I've been overwhelmed with the amount of skincare and steps in my routine, I would gladly pay more to downsize and simply, if the products are so complete. Also I saw an interview with Nicholas and I felt sympathy because we share a similar story. All that to say, you finally convinced me, Rob, I'm gonna try AOS 😂 ❤ love your Light chemical peel gel! 🥰
I am excited to try the new Allies of Skin product (gotta save some haha). I like their Tranexamic & Arbutin Advanced brightening serum. What do you think the main differences between the 2 are?
Ooh great series, thanks Rob!! I was already planning to get the MAS peel in my next order. 😁 I have some sun damage that needs a product like this. Hopefully the spots will fade completely.
👍 It's Saturday Morning here and I'm about to apply MAS Gel as a mask. This Gel is my cornerstone product. Every other product works so much better after using it ❤
Mine just arrived with my YesStyle order earlier this week! Excited to try it out! Didn’t have much luck with their azelaic acid serum (I’m convinced they used the derivative) but I’m hopeful for this one!
I’ve been using the Topicals Faded cream and it works well. I use it morning and night under my other serums. It does have a funky smell, to me it smells like perm solution. I put it on clean skin and let it absorb, the smell goes away after a few minutes. Great video Rob 🫶🏻😊
👍🏻Hi Rob, MAS Light Peel Gel once a week is perfect for me: no irritation, great results! And it also works for the age spots on the back of hands. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. ❤ Ciao! 😊
👍Panthenol. Really interested in this after using a serum that was primarily panthenol, but having a hard time finding products that contain this ingredient.
👍 I had ipl for a blotch of hp and it worked. But when it came back i used my trusty Tret .1% which also worked. I do like the sound of this and will add it to my notes now. I wonder if drinking saki would work too .. maybe you could try that for us Rob 😂 ❤
Hey Rob! So glad you spoke about this! I'm definitely buying this! Quick unrelated question though...Pureseoul now have all the Torriden lines in stock and I have been wanting to try the Cellmazing line for some time now. I can't decide whether to get the eye cream or the firming face cream! Do you think the face cream would be ok under the eye? I was going to purchase both but I'm thinking I should try out one of them first. What do you think? Much love! 😊
@ I’ve seen a good improvement in term of my hyperpigmentation and acne scars. I actually bought it while waiting the MAS Kojic acid but that time it was unavailable. Would love to see a review of this serum from you. Trust your advice and recommendations ❤
Oh I know right same here hun, not sun beds but a lot of sun bathing.. still its never too late to fix and I really hope kojic acid works for you hun.. love x
In the Allies Of Skin you did not refers the most effective brightening ingredients: Hexylresorcinol - a derivative of resorcinol, that shows 0.5% percentage is equal to 2% Hydroquinone in brightening effect, and in this specific serum the percentage is double. It seems like you're just reading the brand's publications about the product and not really delving into and getting to know every ingredient in the list of ingredients on its packaging, including the studies that exist on it and comparisons that show effectiveness in different percentages. Especially when it comes to pigmentation. Too bad.
The Topicals treatment smells like canned cat food-I do not know why 🥴 also when I contacted them about the percentages of actives, they said it was “proprietary” 🙄😒

I have heard of this one mentioned before and have been curious to try it.

Japan does it well when it comes to Kojic Acid❤ used in many popular skincare products! Kose is really good
What do you think about the Nineless Kojic Acid 1% serum?
👍 It's Saturday Morning here and I'm about to apply MAS Gel as a mask. This Gel is my cornerstone product. Every other product works so much better after using it ❤
👍 just started to use the MAS light chemical peel gel and I love it, thank you! ❤

Oh I didnt know that but I will head over and check it out now xx

👍🏻Love the series, nerdy fun videos!!What do you about the Dr. Idris Major Fade Hyper Serum?
👍Panthenol. Really interested in this after using a serum that was primarily panthenol, but having a hard time finding products that contain this ingredient.
Please review mandelic acid in this serum as I want to know if it really works
Oh good idea thank you so much for the recommendation.. love x
👍 MAS Light Peel Gel is my favourite exfoliating product ever! ❤️
Oh thank you so so much hun and I am so happy its working so well for you.. love xx

Emolients such as isododecane, dimethicone; also ectoin, astaxanthin. Azaleic acid. Panthenol.
Please please make some videos around sunscreen filters. i can never remember which is which.

Topicals Faded serum or Naturium Multi-Bright Tranexamic Acid Treatment? 😩
Thinking about Naturium TXA Topical 5% which has Kojic but not sure of the percentage or the Nine Less B-boost 1% Kojic Acid Toner 🤔
I💙Kojic Acid! Thanx, Rob! 💙🗽🇺🇸
Of course 👍👍👍👍❤
Hi Rob ❤
Hey hun, how are you? love x
@ I’m at work 😅 and doing great, thank you. 😊 I’ll be waiting to video later on my break. 😁 Have a wonderful evening! 🫶🏼❤️
👍 always!
Thank you so much Hun. Sending lots of love x
So hard to find anyone that stock this. Very niche. using this with Azelaic and Glutathione and alpha arbutin and tranexamic acid...
Would you recommend NIOD or Allies of Skin to try next?
Edit: sorry I know it’s off topic, but just been looking into both brands tonight
Hi hun, I think in terms of results the Allies pips NIOD as it has more beneficial actives in it and I prefer the texture.. love x
Has anyone tried the Nine Less Serum or Toner with Kojic Acid?
What for bumpy skin? Illness medicine?? Ugh
Ecotion and NAD+
Oh great suggestions thank you so much love x

Woah is that Allies of Skin serum in the thumbnail new? Definitely would’ve bought that on Black Friday if it was available!
It’s new. It wasn’t available during the sale
Do you think kojic acid be used in a routine after a benzoyl peroxide cleanser?
The Topicals treatment smells like canned cat food-I do not know why 🥴 also when I contacted them about the percentages of actives, they said it was “proprietary” 🙄😒
To my nose it smells like perming solution, but goes away once it absorbs. Either that or my nose gets used to it. But it works 👍🏼
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
