Drove a rental Motorhome WHERE?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- We are On the Road Again, this time for a motorhome at least 10 miles down Swaines Creek "Road". This is VERY steep, rocky, wet with low clearance, off camber and is not a road for any Motorhome. The customers took off on foot the day after getting stuck and walked over 10 miles to call for help. We had a bit of a goose chase getting to the rig, but luckily found it and got it out with no real issues. Thanks for coming along for the ride. Cruise America Does Not approve of this message! Thanks Casey

Awesome recovery. Everybody needs a good partner like Becky.
That is quite an impressive feat... to get that RV that far down that road. I was even more impressed they got it turned around!
You know, for four tons, two wheel drive, and an open differential, that motorhome was surprisingly good offroad.
I was thinking the same!
Wonder if there's a back way in no one knows about but the camper driver.?.
Remember who's driving. Casey was using every bit of his calibrated eyeballs to find just the right route through some of those spots..
@@dflood6111 I know. He's certainly got chops.
What did stand out though, the RV is heavier on the rear axle than on the front. This meant lifting front wheels whenver a wheel was going to lift. This is different than what's most commonly seen with a front-engine vehicle, as most tend to be heavier on the front axle than on the rear. I have no doubt this helped with maintaining forward propulsion since the open differential had less opportunity for a wheel to utterly lose traction.
It probably felt pretty weird to drive too, like the back of the vehicle was driving rather than the driver driving.
@@TWX1138 Its why the old rear engined beetle and kombis were so good offroad- all the weight is on the drive tyres (I've been offroading and been in 4wd for ages, and then come across a kombi camped out in the bush- like 'no way, how did that get here'...)
Nice thing about a motor home is as soon as the motor quits you still got the home part! Instant homestead! Good job Casey and Becky!
Never Stranded in a mtr home
you know it's gonna be good viewing as a spectator when Casey says --- "If they wen't down THAT road --- OH Hell"
GPS: “turn left”
Casey: “That’s not a road!”
@@matthoye4974 ... and switch on brains and not follow the GPS at all costs?
I'm as in awe as you are that they made it that far without doing more serious damage.
Fellow told me one time watching this kind of videos was boring. I told him it was never boring and occasionally one comes up like this one. It is excellent entertainment, the license plate flying off was a great ending. I watch a lot of videos in my old age, got four or five favorites and this is one of them. Thanks, Casey and Becky for a fun 30 minutes.
That plate flying off the front was hilarious
yea, remember the sad end of the car in the movie "Blues Brothers"? Could have been worse, much worse.
You are looking at this all wrong, they had a spectacular camping spot, nobody bothered them and you drove it out. Worked out great for them! That overhang does give them a lot of traction. Gives whole new meaning to drive it like a rental...I think was your best video
Yes. I want to go.
*Your tow was one night of hotel and room svc. $500 of CL tires/wheels renter could sell on the way out would've made this doable.*
This guy is a legend in my eyes. He drove that thing better than most of the people on this channel.
"BEEEEEEEP". "I'm NOT putting my seat belt on! I want to be able to abandon ship."
I laughed so hard haha
Casey, you need to set up a bulletin board in your shop and put photos up of these incredible recoveries with a little caption/date underneath.
Yea, like near death experiences
Now that was some impressive off roading with such a motor home!
I'm not sure what impresses me more: the fact that it went up that canyon so far before getting stuck or the driver being mad enough to just keep going once they saw what kind or trail they had just taken!
I’m impressed even if you aren’t.
You are getting that monster out mostly under it’s own power with minimal extra damage.
Casey, You and your lovely wife, are a great team, be safe.
That was amazing! Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Even on a mountain road, Casey's Off Road Recovery ALWAYS appreciates everyone going for the ride. I'm from South Carolina and I recommend Casey's Off Road Recovery.
Reminds of that line from the song "Black Bear Road", "you don't have to be crazy to drive this road but it helps"
That’s a good oil field road, lol. Looks like a good camping spot that no one will bother us.
My blood pressure spiked while watching that recovery. Testament to the F350 platform, but sheesh, I need a beer after watching that!
WRC mode made it super cool and She's doing right in the jeep. Spot on folks!
Watched this today, for the 2nd time. @79 y/o now, these videos help me relive my work-a-holic days when I used to 4x4 a Dodge Ramcharger thru those mountains doing stupid things, and working in the "Oil Patch" and yes, always carried log chains, and a 175 ft long Steel Cable with hooks on each end.... that's for pulling idiots out of the ditch w/o me having to get "off the track", the company would not authorize me having a Winch... but those long cables made up for it. Back in the '70s and '80s a GPS was not in the Vernacular, paper maps and knowledge is what got you there.
Wow! Best ever recovery yet! Just wow
I was impressed with the performance of the RV. Articulation is pants. Plenty of lifting of front wheels, but apart from a few patches it drove out of there unaided.
Driver skill getting it out of there made it look easy.
That was as entertaining as it gets. Becky is very competent, nothing she can't do. I'm impressed. That was really harrowing.
Thanks Roger. Yes I am very spoiled. She has been around this for over 20 years and she will hang with the best of them!
I have an appointment on May 5th to have rear shocks put on my wife's lincoln. Hope to see you then.
@@srcazier Are you gonna off-road it like this motorhome so he can come get you? 😆
Can’t believe you drove that bus outa there, and ran the cameras ... and the drone! 🤯👏👏👏👏👏
😁
Wow! That was amazing. Casey you got skills! Great video, thanks for sharing.
We were helping you drive that motorhome out of there Casey, and we loved the ending
Yep, some places are Not for motorhomes! I love the Duck Creek area & Cedar Breaks. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Great job Casey & Becky.
I don't have any close neighbors, but I'm sure they still heard me laugh when the plate launched. Not everyone can say they have drifted in a motorhome!! They must have been watching to many overland videos and thought all RVs can go anywhere. Glad you had Becky along for the ride.. thanks for the entertainment.
I was REALLY hoping to see who rented this motorhome!! You can't fix stupid. Good recovery!
"Your destination is on the left..." Had me laughing so hard for some reason.
"Make a U turn" got Me
Man - that is full send commitment...
When they made that left turn they were committed until finding a spot to turn around! I'm kinda impressed!!
Wow, now that's what you call a DEEP extraction!
That's one for the books! Great job guys! And you didn't have to abandon ship! That will be a perfect story the for the next podcast.
I was actually in disbelief the whole time
Ok, apparently I made the mistake of tryna eat when I started this video...that intro has me coughing food outta my lungs & blowing it out of my sinuses!! My dogs now appear to be acutely concerned about my survival. I think I'm supposed to thank you for the *painfully* funny bit, however I feel conflicted about that 🤔
😅
man id hate to be around you when something actually funny happens
Hey Casey & Becky
Ford has one hell of a truck under that motor home !
And Casey has a great partner in Becky !
That was a real "Get Er Done" adventure.
Thanx fur takin us along fur da ride.
Buckle Up, Be Safe and Well
You got that right!
That looked like a little more than someone just following a GPS. There's supposed to be some independent thought involved. They did get to see some beautiful scenery though. I've seen people do a lot with RVs but this has got to be the best so far. Glad Becky came along. You would have had to shanghai someone for this one. The plate coming off after all that was gold. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Thanks, Becky for going along even with busted ribs. A real trooper.
🤣🤣🤣 GPS recoveries are the best. Way to go Becky. Thanks for the great videos Casey n Becky
I am a firm believer in pushing myself and my vehicle to the limits. But seriously, we have all got to that point were we say "Nope! Not gonna do that." That point for that motor home was 100 yards into the jeep trail. Casey, the pucker factor must have been off the charts. You did a fantastic job getting that thing out of there. Good thing you had Becky along. She did a fantastic job being the tow vehicle. Great video. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for the kind words Bobby. Becky is the real boss
That r.v has some serious suspension flex. They got their moneys worth. 🤣
That was an intense recovery. Lucky Becky was with you and it was daylight. Thanks for the video.
You two rock! Loved the recovery and beautiful countryside.
Good golly , well some people think that because it is not theirs that they can use it and abuse it and they don't give a rats behind about any damages . Look at all the awesome fun you and Becky had ! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO !! Have a great day Casey .
exactly my thoughts. I just truly dislike people who abuse the shit that is not theirs.
@@mrhk400f OOOOh yes, met some in my days and dislike them. Normally, you have to borrow something, you treat it extra nice to not damage it and not cause trouble to the owner. Its a lack of character to see it the other way round.
I enjoyed doing recoveries because I got to see such beautiful country. And then there was the challenge of figuring out what to do to minimize damage.
Last time I saw a motorhome somewhere like that Robin Williams was driving it. 😎
" this is what you get ! " Very enjoyable content ! Thanks for bringing us along
Glad you enjoyed it
that is cruise every back road in America to a new level
All the dishes were on the floor after that misadventure!
WOW! That was a crazy place to take a motorhome!! i was hoping for an interview with the folks that drove it down there!! that would have been fun! Cheers from Montana!
I agree.man what a recovery.
26:07 that’s hilarious! Feels like my life sometimes. Thanks for this, I can’t believe that camper got through all that!
The motorhome looks a lot more capable than I first imagined; however, that road was for horse and saddle. Super video, cheers.
Oh, I so wanted to see the customer/driver of that rental RV. Darn Casey for being such a good guy.
Yeah, me too, stuck with the video just to see what stupid looks like!
Casey that was a doozy! Glad that nice lady was there to help. Hi Becky, you did good! What would Casey get into if you weren't there? LOL!! Y'all be careful and have a good one.
Crazy work there. "Watch the tire" Holy crap! That was wild recovery. I guess when you don't own it, you either respect the owner or you don't. I guess they didn't. Great video Casey.
Thanks 👍
Awesome! I think this is my favorite recovery so far!
Nice shots from the car in front 👍. Gives you good perspective of the width of the RV
Bet Cruise America is Going to love this Video ! and Ban that Customer from renting one again
You may not have been impressed but I sure am , this was top shelf " let me show you how its done "
It’s not an official recovery video, unless Chereokee goes into two-stroke mode! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this one is one for the books.
Wow! I am really impressed with your wife, Becky. She is awesome. She knows exactly what to do to keep the rope taught and how to always stay just the right distance from you. You two make an awesome team.
20 years helping with recovery and offroading she knows her stuff.
Great job Casey and Becky. Thank you for all your hard work and for taking us along for the ride. I was not surprised that this was a rental motorhome.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a new level there!
''See'n things that I may never see again. And I just can't wait to get on the road again"
You and your wife make a great team. Please keep up the great work and the videos coming. You two are amazing.
Thank you! Will do!
Casey, it's a Robin Williams adventure like in the movie RV. He rents from the same company.
That was a excellent recovery.
Crazy that GPS even recognizes that as a traversable road. Good job getting it out of there.
Another great recovery. You and Becky make a great duo doing the recoveries. You both seem to work good together.
Wow Becky's back yahoo, come on Becky you are great . Glad to see the daylight lol.
I see the renters didn't want their pictures to end up on youtube!!!
I would have never done that!
😂
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery Maybe you should, otherwise they'll never learn.
@@brucekoster9253 : nope, once the tree 🌲 is down , we don’t keep chopping on it. greetings from Toluca Mexico.
@@Amarillobymorning777 : .....better now?
That guy was a good driver. Nobody else should ever try that. I feel for him...for what he put himself through and ultimately YOU.
Its nice that you show the trip up.
You have 1 awesome wife Casey I liked that 3 wheel wheelie good job.
Drone footage was cool. Amazing how the auto pilot can avoid trees.
Pretty amazing
The next time I visit America I’m hiring a cruiseAmerica van, how tough are these things? Great add for Ford.
Always a great adventure with Casey's Off Road Recovery! Thank you :)
Those E- series vans are tougher than you think I guess. They also have pretty good ground clearance, I change the oil in mine without driving it on ramps.
I was wondering what in the world would require a 30 minute video. Holy. Crap. I was swearing up a storm watching that.
I'm sure the cruiseamerica folks are right pleased to see that their rentals are so offroad-worthy!!! Hope the renter paid extree for the insurance.
“Tourists will do the darndest things”.
“But we are French”.
“I know rental cars are four wheel drive, I just figured the RV’s where too”.
All valid after working in a national park for 9 years. 🙄
Living in the French Alps (I'm from the UK), I regularily see people get small 2wd cars to places other people would struggle to walk with hiking poles as stout boots.....with no problems at all. They get worried when the find out I'm from the uk, dispite I'm the one in a real 4x4.
@@idrisddraig2 they float man, haha. I've taken my 2wd beater places no sedans should go. 900kg so it doesn't sink quite as bad as heavier stuff
A Casey's off-road recovery!!, at 6:54 I would love to give you two thumbs up for that comment!!, "people are lost because of your stupid directions"!!😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty impressive they got farther and got stuck coming backup!
what an adventure Tour
Best regards from Germany
Jeff
We are all still in awe GPS needs to differentiate road from off road trails, wow!
most GPS units do have some type of filter.
You got to be kidding me with that road and motorhome . Mind boggling
The high speed part was the funniest
Good morning everybody and thumbs UP to Casey and crew !
Insane, simply insane!!!!!! Becky great drone footage!!!!! Team effort. Really enjoyed the ride. Three axle ride was cool!
That is beautiful up there!
You know, my dad put his fully loaded dually 2wd Square body truck in some sketchy situations during its life including lifting one wheel in the air one time but this.... this is just plain absurd. Nice job getting it out!
The great thing about your job its a differant recovery every day
Agreed! It was amazing they got that motor home down in that bottom. That road would have made me think a little bit in my pick up truck. Looked like some good camping spots in that bottom. Scenery was good. We did chuckle at the front license plate popping off.
Better them than me! Some folks don’t know when to turn back!
Ok, now I have seen it all, a highway-boat doing some 4x4 thingies, cool might I say
“Duramax on a Dirt Road” would make a great country song (or album)...😎
Duramax??
It's amazing they had cell service to make the call.
They hiked out 10 miles to get cell service!
Bill really needs to have his customers watch a couple of your recoveries of his damaged equipment. Then tell them they will be charged a *hefty* surcharge if they break it. 🤔
Stay safe out there man. 😎
Unbelievable I would’ve bet the motorhome would’ve never driven out of there I am afraid to take mine off the road but now I might I know who to call Casey a man with a plan
