8-9 years ago, when I accidentally found Nightwish on YT, I was in a difficult moment in my life, everything seemed to be falling apart. Their intensely optimistic energy helped me gradually get out of this bad state. I then directed my attention to the comments, in the hope that I will understand why this is happening to me. There I found the late Ann Waychoff, informing the new reactors about the band's (then) almost 2-decade history, and often recommending this song to them for a future reaction, because it was her favorite song. She gave the last years of her life promoting the band she loved, Nightwish. Years later, when Ann was hospitalized, her absence in the comments was immediately felt. So, after consulting with some fans, I started posting her welcome message with band's history to the new reactors. She was a person full of tact and gentleness, an island of peace in the middle of fan groups that often came into conflict, so her memory is still alive in the hearts of the band's fans, as you will notice in the comments.
Coming back to the song - when you'll read the lyrics you will identify a real poem called "Love" at the end, performed in the studio album by the band members and their family members. There are montages on YT with the live performance from this concert plus the poem from the studio album ("extended edition") that the fans made when Ann was in the hospital, as well as a few years later, when she left us.
Sometimes the within is piano black. That's the moment in my life too that I found the reaction video's for Nightwish live performances and the Nightwish Army, bringing light, chasing away the darkness. Thank you for being our general, Gabriel ❤ Rip Ann Waychoff 🙏🏼

Favorite song of the late Ann Waychoff, Mother of the Nightwish Army.
Inspired by the 52 chapter ,19th century poem of the same name by Walt Whitman. The studio version, at the end, has a spoken poem section, written by Tuomas in an ode to the original. The word to that are the words you see on the big screen behind the band.

Analogy.... when you are in a movie theater and get to part where the hero or heroine seems doomed with no way out, and all is lost. Do you get up and leave the theater? NO! My advice to you... when your life seems empty and hopeless... do not leave the theater. Never leave the theater. Stay in the theater. Cleansing water is on the way. Nightwish and the Nightwish Army can help with the cleansing.

This song is a tribute to the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman 1819-1892.(one of the co-founders of US poetry). The 7th line of the song is ""Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the Ride""". The extended official studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. These lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of the video you just saw.

First off I love these reaction videos. You are really getting into the groove of both making the videos and clearly love the music. I am also new to Nightwish and their music is just amazing to listen to. Having a female vocalist adds something I cannot quite explain yet. Maybe it is the fact her voice is so clean and she's able to reach those higher notes. Anyway, I can't wait to see more.

When he develops dementia, he begins to write down everything he always wanted to tell her but never did. The song itself describes the creative process. The LP is followed by quotes about the content, spoken by band members and the actors in the film.
The model is the poem of the same name by the American poet Walt Whitman.

This song is inspired by a poem of the same name from 1850's by Walt Whitman.
There is an extended version of this song with a poem in text. It's worth knowing that this song was the next-to-the-last song in this concert (the last was - "The Last Ride of the Day"). You noted her costume change - She was slightly late coming out after changing because there was a problem with a zipper on the left side under her arm. During the instrumental part of Ghost Love Score when she was backstage, she rectified the problem - when she comes back on stage you can see it fixed. I can't say I saw it at the concert, but I've seen lots of these reactions - enough to see it. After the eighth song, there is a ninth that is purely and instrumental ("Last of the Wilds"). Floor was changing during it. She would then come back on stage at the beginning of "Bless the Child". She managed to be out on beat - but not quite to the mic yet. She closed the gap really well. I'm not sure I really noticed at the concert, but I've seen it in reaction videos. Floor is amazing at being on beat. I realize she has a clicker (a device that clicks in your ear to keep you on beat) but I've seen a LOT of singers who couldn't keep the beat with one. I don't think she needs it. Tuomas operates with no monitor at all. It's possible that Floor's monitor has no clicker. I don't know. I know she has a monitor because you can see it (and because Empuu turned hers off during "I want my tears back" at Wacken as he went across the stage. She turned it back on, and as he came back across Floor is towering over him like a mother scolding a child. Hilarious. You were right to do the one at BA though - it was great. So is their version of Elan at BA. Crowd participation is noticeable there. Lots of us sang at Wacken, but the acoustics made it hard to hear.

You just played my favorite.
Where much music (metal or other) can tend to be formulatic (guitar riffs and drum solos) Nightwish is anything but. Everyone does what is needed without having to be the “star”. Floor may be the front person and perceived as the star but she totally realizes and appreciates that it is the presence of all of them performing together at the very highest level that creates the Nightwish vibe and excellence.
The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible

You're doing a great job. You'll find your rhythm and you'll get better at it. Nightwish will definitely get you views, but I would spread them out more. Split it up with other music. The great thing about Nightwish, besides the music, is that they are like a tree, that has a lot of branches that lead to other bands that are similar and/or people that they've played with. The army will guide you to some of those bands. I'll start...." Epica - Sancta Terra Live ". You'll see why.
1 more thing... be prepared for long songs if you are going down this road. But it's worth it. 🤘🏼 Cheers from NYC.

Im not sure it's possible to understand absolutely every detail of a Nightwish song.
There are a few reasons for this.
One is that there are very few minds that can match Tuomas' in terms of a worldview.
And even if you can, he deliberately leaves much open to personal interpretation. He has said several times that he prefers to do that.
For personal favourites it is hard. I have a top 6 list but after that it is very difficult for me to put the other 100+ in any order - almost everything Tuomas writes and Nightwish performs is pretty extraordinary, in the literal sense if the word.
Some notes:
No 2 in my favourites list.
Marco is superb - I love his second entry (the rising gliss) so much I extracted it and have it as my ringtone.
Favourite parts:
Piano Black , and particularly the best description of depression I've heard - "sometimes the within is piano black". Piano black - that deep glossy black that almost evades the eye.
Emppu holding that long note one-handed as he drinks a Corona.
The unexpected pauses (rests) towards the end, particularly, in this performance, when Floor turns her hands upwards and the flames seem to come from her palms.
Great chuggy rhythms in the breakdown.
Little pizzicato string sections in the run-up to that ending.
At the end the lead vocals use the same lyrics as the choir are singing in the earlier parts -
"All that great heart lying still and slowly dying
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing". That lyric is perfect for the staccato rhythm.
...and lots more
So, for a favourites l7st...
1. the Piet and the Pendulum - for me, Tuomas' crowning achievement and his most personal song of all, supplanting zdead Boys Poem I think. Dont get to this too early. Wait until you know the band well and understand some of their history.
2. This song, song of Myself
3. 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley 2015, starts high energy and increases continually
4. Dead Boy's Poem from Buenos Aires 2018. A powerful ballad-like song in which Floor excels. Tuomas' most personal song until Poet. Watch it and you'll love it. (You'll also like Floor's outfit in that show.)
4 equal - Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018, same concert. Unbelievable drumming, more Marco (I told you he was good) and Floor getting pretty wild with the vocals.
6 - Getting to the borderline here and this ine changes from time to tine. Cutrently Weak Fantasy, Tampere 2015. Sometimes Slaying the Dreamer from Buenos Aires 2018. And others jiggle around this pisition too.
Slaying tje Dteamer is evem more vocally pyrotechnic than Devil.

This Nightwish song. hits me. The lyrics, melody, drumming. I miss Jukka, his style when drumming. If any can do drumming with style it is Jukka. That stick twirling and double kick, oh what style and skill. And of course our metal Mozart Tuomas (keyboards) who writes and composes this beautiful music.
nightwish, ah gone through 3 vocalists at present, 1"Tarja", 2"Anette" and 3"Floor" (the current one and the one who is singing at the moment which is my favorite) in this concert "floor" was new in the band, practically this concert made her stay in the band until today, that this song was made by the 2nd vocalist "anette", which the albums of "anette" for me were my favorites of the band, unfortunately many Fans treated "Anette" very badly, which was unfair because they wanted to compare her with "Tarja", the first vocalist.
