- The Olympic Games begin in Paris on Wednesday, followed by the official opening ceremony on Friday, when competitors will parade on boats along the River Seine.
The French government has promised an "unprecedented" security operation to guard the Games.
The security operation involves the largest peacetime deployment of security forces in French history, with up to 75,000 police, soldiers and hired guards on patrol in Paris at any one time.
There will be 206 countries represented at the Olympics, and 184 at the Paralympics.

its not 75k Army troop, you have around 20K Army who will help the National police guard the opening ceremony who happen in the open , not like the usual in a stadium but for 6KM near the Seine River,
they wont be deployed the whole Olympic and most of them will be on reserve, the Army will mostly keep Aerial space while the main police will be on the street

We were in Paris 2 weeks ago. We were lucky to see the Eiffel Tower but alot of the regular spots for tourism got blocked off. And the army is everywhere which is good for safety but yeah everything is stressful in Paris.

Well, it is probably the most high profile event for terrorism that occurs? Almost every olympics has significant forces dedicated to them for security. It's also in Paris, again a high target for terrorism as it is among the most visited places in the world by tourists... it isn't some middle class road in nowhereville that your probably acquainted with. Lastly, the political situation in France is quite volatile at the moment considering the countries Parliament has no clear majority in a very contentious election between the Far Left and Far Right and the current Centrist President, Emmanuel Macron, has no real legitimacy or mandate for power anymore considering his Centrist bloc has been pumelled both in European and Parliamentary elections, however he continues to maintain a grip on power. Again, not even anything new considering France has been politically volatile and instable since the Revolution of 1789.

2024 Europe is no longer a part of the World where very large public events can happen. Security risks are just too high.
