I process chapstic tubes that way and use them for match cases. They hold 7 large waterproofed strike anywhere matches by alternating the heads up and down, a birthday candle fits in the center and a few model will actually allow you to carry a compressed cotton ball under the lid. Great tutorial.
Love it! Your videos should be required watching in elementary and high schools. College and Senior Citizen schools too. Learning to use your brain is a much needed survival school, and you are performing a desperately needed public service. God bless America! I almost threw away a bunch of old chapstick I had, but now I have many uses for it. I can't say thanks enough. Thanks.
I use it under my nose when I have a cold and have to blow my nose a lot. Much cheaper than fancy premoisterized tissue and frankly works better. I can use the roughest dollar tree tissue or toilet paper and never get a rash under my nose.
Sometimes I use my sister's strawberry-chapstick on my bloody hemorrhoids when she's not home. Then I put the cap back on and put it back in her room. Is that ok?
You can also pry the bottom screw out, pull it back, and push it in really hard. The cap will fly across the campsite and hit your buddy in the head. :D
Rub this around the inside of screw on food jars, keeps the lid from sticking. Rub a light coat over the inside of Tupperware container to keep it from staining. Use on pets paw for emergency burns from hot concrete or cuts. I just found your channel, I like it! I’ve got a brother that is a huge prepper, I am gonna recommend this channel to him! I see you have a USMC knife, if you served in the armed forces a big thank you! If no, then thanks for making this channel anyways!! 😁🤗
Another good use is a loose or dirty 8mm stereo or mono phono jack rubbing a small amount on shaft helps reduce noise. I just did this on my warn out laptop phono jack and it reduced static noise to almost none at all. Good for cleaning the contacts and preventing oxidation at the same time.
Also doubles as an excellent sunblock in a pinch have used it multiple times in the field. Especially if it it 15 or 30 spf the reduction of a sun burn during inhospitable weather allows for great increases in mobility and reduces fatigue
The final idea mentioned at the very end is a great recommendation. I never thought of this product as a treatment for butt hurt, and though it may not be a cure, it's as good a suggestion as any for that ailment. lol I keep a stick of Carmex in my EDC kit and it's one of my most used items. Good video!
This might seem strange, but I use a Chapstick tube in my Urban Altoids EDC to carry deodorant. I simply bought a stick of deodorant, cut off the chapstick (I saved and melted it onto a spoon and put it in another container - waste not, want not), then essentially bored the empty chapstick tube down into the deodorant, and wiped away the excess. I marked it CLEARLY - wouldn't want to put it on my lips. It might seem strange to some people, but I'm in an urban environment and not tactical, and in the event of a survival situation, moral is a big issue, and for me, being able to put on some deodorant would be a real boost.
A lot of these hacks were common Bees Wax "hacks" that my Aunts knew and used back in the 1960's. Such as Car battery terminal posts, Window and drawers sticking, sealing and waterproofing shoes and boots, etc...
There's a product I've used called "climb on bar" it's the same stuff, just in a larger tin. I've used it a lot to pack up small cuts and cracking cuticles, as well as lips and to sooth sunburns. Great video!
thank God I'm not the only one. when I saw that scene about barter I instantly thought "they are lite cheap.... oh man I know what I am missing in the bob."
I wouldn't use the Burt's Beeswax on most of this due to how expensive it is. Use the cheap chapstick for most of this and save the Burt's for lips and skin.
Thank you for these videos. They really are full of helpful information. At the beginning you mentioned some reasons for making these videos. Another reason I thought of was that you might have some suggestions I might not normally think of. I'm really new to this sort of thing, so I'm enjoying every one of these videos that I watch. I like all the little bits of humor you leave or put in. Even some of the out takes are educational Thanks again, Bruce
Another great super small prep that does almost everything you can do with chap stick is candles, specifically the tiny tea light candles. There are so many things you can do besides the obvious burning a candle for light.
I would never hide cash in one of those because I always loose my chap stick and have to keep buying it all the time. Another use is you can use the empty as a pill bottle if the pills are small.
My Boy Scout Troop always kept the medicated Chapstick in their pocket first aid kits. As well as protecting lips from being chapped, it also works as ointment for cuts, and it is spf 15 sunscreen, which can be put on your nose and ears when you feel them getting sunburned. I have always kept a stick in my tackle box.
Car done broke down? Now wacha wanna do is gechur chapstick... Erectile dysfunction? Grab some chapstick. Ebola? You know what work work with this?... ...you got some chapstick?
Take a small pan, melt the contents of a tube, then dip in a length of absorbent string, remove string and remove excess chap stick after it cools since it doesn't set like hard wax, then wrap around bic lighter for fire starter or a stiff wick to reach in to hard to reach places such as lighting a Firebox stove or a deep candle in a jar. Any where you need flame that is hard to reach. Always right there on the lighter.
Vasoline makes a miniature tub that fits in the pocket. I like that because i find that if it gets hot out the chapstick melts in the tube and can run out.
My husband and I are beginner preppers and your videos are very helpful. I enjoy watching and learning from someone so knowledgeable. I especially like the comment about hiding cash to buy extra ammo and gear, as I find myself trying to do the same. lol I'm excited about setting up a day to try all of the stuff I've learned so far. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming.
It can be used on hand saws if you are cutting green wood and the blade is sticky. Use it on the weather seal on your car or caulking fine cracks around windows to stop draughts. Coat matches to make them water proof.
use chapstick on the first 2 to 3 foot of fishing line if you don't have a float. wax is obviously waterproof and will cause that light line to float for worm fishing or whatever you have. also, what's up some people's vulgar comments on this channel? let's mature up here a bit.
Wow, slide rule in the drawer at 8:39 -- for, I guess, if you need to calculate & there are no batteries or electricity, or you need to calculate while you're under water or in wet conditions. Hey, it could happen, such as if you're out at sea & need to do trig to navigate.
Good use for chap sticks that are unpleasant. I'll put on in the pickup for fire starter. Thanks. When empty, refilling with wax would be good from one of the softer wax candles.
Cotton balls with Vaseline rubbed into/onto them make great fire starters. I pack a bunch in a large prescription pill container and they burn more than long enough to get kindling going. And I bet you can come up with dozens of uses for Vaseline as well. Non Sibi,Sed Patriae.
adding onto the money/tiny survival kit (empty chapstick container), you can also put matches in there and then attach a striker on the inside of the cap.
If you are finding you are having nosebleeds, maybe altitude or humidity etc... you can take a small bit of the chapstick on your finger and rub it in your nose. It will work to prevent further nosebleeds
***** Hey Sootch you can use it on your Crossbow strings, You can use it to Insulate Wires from wet conditions, You can lubricate a Lock Shackle with it, You can put it on Bug Bites Etc. Hope you like my uses there are lots more. :D N.
You can also lube a drawer with a bar of soap ivory would be good Because it's cheap it may not be the best because it doesn't have a good oil content Which is needed to lubricate the drawer that sticks a bit
Excellent thoughts. Pretty much similar uses as fixing wax. For specifics sake...Chapstick would be Fuel not Accelerant. Accelerants burn from the vapor that emits from the fuel. Great video BTW!
chapstick on snare lines makes them snap faster (noose part). Tho not as effective as other products a glob of chapstick can help remove a dug in tick (same as Vaseline to smoother it to make it move). I have one time used chapstick to cover my face to keep mosquitoes off during a canoe trip when I lost my bag (i know I know tie your bag down..I forgot) when horsing around flipped my canoe.
Wow sootch I was just using Chapstick well Carmex on my thumb bc I had a bad cut and it's been cracking so I put some on works great. This was like two days ago and now your vids out on the different used of Chapstick pretty cool
I prefer Vaseline for knife edges while camping, just for reasons of odor. There be bears where I camp and chap sticks tend to be flavored or scented with food type stuffs and I don't like food odors on my gear that I keep in my tent.
On threads in the field maybe, but not on acme treads on a vise or leather goods or batteries. Why not, because anyone worth their salt will keep these thing clean & lubed with the correct lube for them. The best way to survive a survival situation is to not get caught in one to begin with, second best way is to have everything prepared, before the situation develops. Your video is the third, & that should never happen. You had some good ideals.

Jealkeja are you insane?
Perfect size for hooping
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Q-tip Chapstick lighter was really cool
lubricity! lol... Best word ever!
Great for bow string and also crossbow... I even add a layer to slide on handgun.
Hands down the best ChapStick video on the internet.
I can't tell if your serious or not.
Adam Slater - you're
You can also pry the bottom screw out, pull it back, and push it in really hard. The cap will fly across the campsite and hit your buddy in the head. :D
You could use the empty tube to hold needles for a homemade sewing kit.
Sootch? You're videos are my favorite...everyday items with survival uses. Genius.

Great info !! Now you need to do the 25 SHTF uses for q-tips !!
You could also use it to wax the string of your bow!
Roger that and thank you.
Using the empty tube as a pill bottle like aspirin or Ibuprofen works as well. Thanks for the video.
Wow the wound treatment idea is really good. Would not have thought, that Lip Balm is such a versatile tool.
Me either

I remember watching that movie "The Book of Eli" ...and I was thinking...
Note to self: get chap stick for the post Apocalypse
thank God I'm not the only one. when I saw that scene about barter I instantly thought "they are lite cheap.... oh man I know what I am missing in the bob."
Watching "The Book of Eli" was very enlightening to me as well. Chapstick would be a great commodity to have to use to barter with.
TheyKNOWandYOUdont Why when you got Cat Oil??
"25 SHTF uses for Chapstick!"

Rumor has it around the Vatican, that Jesus used a Chapstick to turn water into Jack Daniels.
when you repairing your gear on the field, and yoir needle had a hard time going tbrough thick material, dipp it in to a chapstick . Its will help !!!
A Maglite manual I once read advised putting Vaseline on the screw threads to stop them from oxidizing. I bet you chapstick would work as well.
Awesome video. Gotta try this for the safety glasses I wear at work. Always fogging up.

I'm totally going to use it for when my backpack zipper gets stuck!! Thanks!
I've been using petroleum jelly for years to lube things. Especially plastic gears. But lip balm is a great idea. Thanks.
At last a video that is to the point, up close to show you what they are doing and informative...love it and now going out to buy chapstick..
I had honestly never considered this as a lube or item worthy for camping/SHTF. glad to have seen this movie.
Great examples and ideas! Thanks Don!

I've used chapstick for squeaky sling swivels on a rifle and to free up sticky locks and keys
If you are finding you are having nosebleeds, maybe altitude or humidity etc... you can take a small bit of the chapstick on your finger and rub it in your nose. It will work to prevent further nosebleeds
along the same lines - Vaseline (petrol jelly) has a zillion uses. The first that comes to mind is using it for chapped lips.
Excellent video on uses of chapstick. I love the stash/survival idea, thank you very much for some food for thought.

great video. I learned a lot by watching and I am always smiling by the end of it. Keep on making these video's. You are really good at it.
I found that using chapstick in the socket of a bow drill helps reduce friction for a better spin.
Awesome video packed with lots of great info! Thanks again. Definitely gonna add some chapstick to my survival bag.
Wow, vary cool! Thank for the ideas, and the help
You can use bar soap to lubricate as well.

u can use it as sun screen because moast chapsticks have spf 15
