  • President Edgar Lungu has successfully filed-in his nomination seeking to be elected as Patriotic Front PF President at the party convention slated for Mulungushi conference centre this weekend.
PF Secretary General Davis Mwila received and verified President Lungu’s documents at the Party Secretariat in Lusaka.
Mr. Mwila declared that the head of state had complied with the requirements of the party Constitution.
And addressing the supporters who gathered at the Secretariat to show solidarity, President Lungu said no one will be left behind as long as they are relevant to the Party.
He also called on the party leadership to be humble as they serve the people and remember the people who elected them in power.
President Lungu also appealed to leaders to accept the people’s wish when they are rejected by the electorate.
He said he was rejected twice in Chawama constituency before being elected as Member of Parliament.
President Lungu further said the people will vote for leaders who will prove themselves as worthy of being elected.
He said as the Party heads to 2026, he will begin handing over to other leaders who will take up the mantle when his term comes to an end.
President Lungu said he wants to hand over power to leaders who are able to serve the people diligently and in a humble manner.
The PF has set aside today April 7th and tomorrow April 8th to receive applications for nomination to stand as party president.
The PF Constitution requires a presidential candidate to submit an application letter, 10-thousand-kwacha nomination fee, a grade 12 certificate and a list of 20 supporters from each province.
And representative of Public Service Vehicle drivers Max Changwe said President Lungu is the only head of state to have listened to the plea of local fuel tanker drivers by awarding them a contract to transport fuel.
Meanwhile, ZANASU President Isaiah Mambwe said the students Unions have endorsed the candidature of President Lungu as Party President.
