We used bamboo backet in the isolated part in the philippines. We inherited this culture in japanese. there are some places in the philipine still patronizes this culture. Also and some of my relative in the province where also selling in the city.

Bamboo is not only way more degradable, the plant grows very fast and is renewable, unlike plastic that is made from fossil oils.

Is it just me or am I just taken by this man's beauty and simplicity? He's really magnificent. I'm sure there are other's like him but I think he's really special person. I would like to meet him and ask to teach me techniques for baskets! I do pine needle baskets using materials where I live too. It makes me so happy to see the ancient crafts passed on! I am an artist at heart but one day I will travel and learn many things :) Thank you so much for sharing. :)

Amazing what a person can do when you use the natural products around you and with a skill passed on from one generation to the next you can hand make a useful and beautiful work of art that has a necessary purpose.
So many life skills have been lost because of new technology. And people working in factories and offices instead of working the land. When our forefathers worked the land they need all these skills to provide for their families
No a days everyone is focused on what they call a richer life..... learn life skills that will help the survive instead of sitting in an office all the time is what I say. I just love XiaoXi I've learned so much from watching him and I'm in America.... Thank you so soooooo much.

I love this combination of building, growing and cooking! I hope that you make some videos showing how to make all of the little helpful tools you use. I've never seen the spinning sticks that you used. They seem faster than the old drop spindle method.
