  • Transcend The Mountain is a short film by Mountain Roots Productions. It tells the story of my father's near death experience, and how inspiration can be found in the most unlikely places to transcend individual and societal limitations imposed upon oneself. Nothing changes until we choose to change.

Haven’t watched it yet but since this is your latest video wanted to comment that finding your channel has been a blessing. My Dad was born in Elizabethton, TN but raised in southwest Virginia … Richlands, Lebanon, Honaker. He moved away but his parents and brother and my cousins did not. So, as a kid I spent every single summer there with them … first memories were at a place in Richlands (grandparents) on the Clinch River & in Raven (Great grandparents & uncle and aunt & cousins) … then on to Honaker on the Little River, where my grandparents lived until they passed, and my uncle and aunt still live. There is NO place like home … seeing your video footage of neighboring towns and county’s, many of which I’ve driven through a lot, has blessed my soul !!! My Uncle worked in the coal mines for decades … I could go on and on but I’ll save more comments for later after I’ve watched this video and more … sending prayers & good vibes to you & your family ♥️

Inspiring video in so many aspects, spiritually, visually, audio or music and your narration. Good short film.
Anyone watching this who still has their parents here and now I would recommend enjoying time with them as much as possible. Let go what needs to be let go, break the chains of any that inhibit a relationship with them, because we are here but for a whisper of a time on earth. I’m only 49, and I feel like I am a young orphan. But I am thankful for the time I had with my parents while they were here.
I didn’t know why I was drawn to Appalachia, and or WV but I realized recently that both my parents grew up in Tennessee which I looked up that they too were part of Appalachia at one time. I wish I could share my own adventures though this beautiful part of the country, but I hold on to the hope I will see them again, with my savior and God in paradise.
Also I never saw that dr. Seuss book when I was younger haha ❤️

I was born and raised in the flat lands of GA but fell in love with the mountains as a child and made it my life's goal to live in the Blue Ridge when I was on my own and did that very thing. Been up here for 35 years now. Not one regret!!

This is an awesome video. Very moving and touching. Well said! Why do we wait? I think that is something we all can ask ourselves. I have been saying for sometime that nothing happens unless we make it happen. We all have a choice. Great job on the music and the scenery. Beautiful! Keep the videos coming!

      Correct and incorrect.
I'm a Pagan for reference. So our beliefs mat conflict.... though so many Abrahamic religion's fundamentals are pagan based sometimes verbatim, other times loosely..... This was by design to help all the "heathens" convert....
Personally, I find the fact one god thinks he should be the only one we humans worship, made sure of that, best he could by essentially conquering those that refused to convert and redrumming (rhymes with Sytr 😉)many of them. That's what a narcissist would do once in power. Just saying....
Anyways back to the point. I know my gods and goddesses influence my life. I made a deal with a goddess as 10 year old boy. Without fail all she said would come to pass.....has. mist communication is through dreaming or astral plane walking....as we call it. But other signs and happenings do happen.
I have been given a task by this goddess to protect someone very important to her. This person showed in my life exactly when the goddess said she would. I had even forgot I made such a deal. I was 10 after all. That said she reminded me and my entire life was thrown on it's head unceremoniously. If I had rebuffed her deal l, no doubt her wrath would have been severe. So, many think I made mistakes by doing all I have. What most do not know is I'm the happiest I have ever been. This special person is soulmate. She's 12 years younger (as the goddess told me she would be and that we would meet later in my life 45 yoa) than I. She had certain lessons the goddess wanted her to experience. Essentially, she suffered, so she would appreciate the life she has now. It wasn't easy for either of us. She knew as I did we were destined for each other. We saw each other in dreams. We also meet briefly 3 times over a course of 10 years. Random as you can get but the attraction was magnetic and undeniable. We both we're frightened of the intensity.
We have free will but the powers that be absolutely influence our lives. Especially if you ask for them to save you because you wanna delete yourself at 10 yoa because you had a family life you can't even begin to tell here because it will trigger the censor. Let's just say it was horrible. She got me through it.
You could wait for decades but if the powers that be need you specifically for a task.....you will rise to that task.

The isolation of the Appalachian mountains is what makes it a unique place to grow up, live, and enjoy. The hardship of living in these mountains has carved and molded the people in the uniqueness that they are. The remoteness created us as a people unlike anywhere else in the United States. You will not find a better place to grow up, live, and die, than in these mountains. I have lived here all of my life. I wouldn’t be happy living anywhere else. I think you feel what I feel, and what you have described in this video. I have never felt the typical stereotype of being called a “Hillbilly” from outsiders. Quite to the contrary, the outsiders, or “outlanders” that were never from here, that I have met, respect the region, culture, and heritage that we take for granted. The people I meet seem to come to our region for the first time with their mouths gaping open in awe. It is as if they had just died and were transported to paradise. While we sometimes complain about the isolation, the lack of industry and jobs, these “outlanders” coming here remind me why my home is so special, and why I shouldn’t take it for granted. It makes me proud to be called “Hillbilly,” though I was always proud to be a “Hillbilly.” However, like a lot of people who are native to our region, I am always suspicious of the motives out “outlanders” coming here to live. Fear of outsiders does seem to be a very common and typical trait of all Appalachians. I don’t mind them to come and visit with us. But, by God! Do not come here to try and change the area! Do not come here and try to change the people! We like things to stay just the way they are.
I don’t know if my words were what you wanted when you asked for comments about your film. But, after watching your film, this is what it means to me. Thank you.
