Joann the queen is most likely taking a summer brood break, here in the Texas heat I dont even check for brood in August and half of September anymore.
Hi David, how can I use extra virgin queens which have come out of their cells and are in cages? I only have unrelated colonies left. Can I set them up to get mated if there's no colony to put them into? I am in Newcastle, NSW Australia and current temps are warm Spring weather with a nectar flow on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
David...I love a good build project. If I lived near you, you betcha I'd be driving nails with you...also I did a quick search and found a scientist going to Thailand where they have been dealing with this new mite to Europe for decades. Apparently they use formic acid on paint sticks to deliver the fumes. The only difficult thing is the dosages are not exact.
For burlap bags, find a local coffee roaster (not just a shop, an actual roasting company that gets beans in bulk). I asked, and got about 50 of them. They have so many!
Im confused about AZ hives. If its inside a building, how do the bees that fly out while inspecting, make their way back into the hive after you close it back up?
That's a great question and please ask this question on our livestream tonight. The livestream starts at 7pm tonight. Hope you'll join us. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/users/livepF8btEC3r10
I'm working a 60hr/week job and have no problem managing 7 hives. Appears I'll be able to manage at least 100 while still working a full time and a half job, based on time spent per hive. Just a guess tho

Hey David, I caught a swarm this past spring. They are my first colony. So I had no drawn comb for them. They have drawn out all the comb so far that there is nearly no space between the frames whatsoever. The bees wings are rubbing the frame behind them when they walk around. I am scared to do an inspection for the risk of hurting my queen because whenever I pick up frames it’s almost impossible not to roll the bees that are on those frames. Do you have any ideas on how to prevent this next year when I give them more comb to draw out?
Not sure if it’s relevant or not but I’m just a few hours southwest of you in Illinois as well near St. Louis Missouri. And these bees put 1/4inch of propolis on EVERYTHING
Found what I thought was and empty box, full of bees. What is the best time of year to take the hive apart and put it into frames. In a new hive. 3,300 ft southern sierras.

Hi David. 1st colony next spring. Watching all your videos. I can buy a 3 or 5 pound cage of bees with a queen. Or I can buy a 5 frame nuc. I’m leaning toward the nuc. I’m curious, approximately how many bees are in each?

Thanks for another Great Video! The weather has changed from 70's to 40 degrees this morning and high today was 50 with lots of wind. Back to fall weather. HAVE A GREAT EVENING AND WEEKEND 🐝
I buy my burlap also from Amazon my issue is that I have anxiety so bad when I am around a lot of people it just easier for me to order it and they deliver it to me and I also say this is my second year of beekeeping and I can be having issues with my anxiety and go out and work my fees and all of that goes away I call them my bee therapist
Great video David. I was able to get my question answered about a wind break. With the winter winds & temps right around the corner I want to be a head of the curve. I appreciate all the knowledge/advice you share.

Will do, thanks
Yep, I have an iPhone 11 it’s still going!
Hi David what is the maximum # of hives 1 person can manage with today management minimum requirements. 20 hives per apiary

1st tim3 beekeeper, when I got my ladies. I was informed to give them pink salt water. Any thoughts on that .❤
Great Video (as usual), thank you for the answers and knowledge! Quick question, are you speaking at Yerington again this year?
Sadly I'm not. I will miss everyone! 🥲

Buy the nuc. More expensive but instant hive
