- Austrian Trip Report onboard their turboprop Bombardier Dash 8 from Warsaw to Vienna on a very cold and windy morning in Centre-Europe.
A very comfortable flight on this little turboprop Dash 8 operated by Austrian Airlines. There were not too many passengers so the flight was even more comfortable. Also, the hot preordered breakfast was, as always in Austrian Airlines, amazing. Perfect. Delicious!

Great film again, Lucas and once more just ever so slightly jealous of that hot breakfast. Sadly had to miss out on mine in January as I had to cancel my trip to Vienna at the last minute. Oh well, another time!

I've said many times and I will continue to do so: this breakfast is the best I've ever had on a plane and its better than many breakfasts I had on normal restaurants. It's worth every €uro it costs.

En mi opinión este es un vuelo muy tranquilo y perfecto. Austrian Airlines es muy buena aerolínea y el Bombardier Dash 8 es un muy buen avión con tecnología muy avanzada.
El aeropuerto de Warsaw tiene 4⭐ y el de Vienna también 4⭐.

I think it's 10 euro on their website. You can buy it when booking the flight of after that on the Do&Co website (the catering company website).

No te quepa duda de que sería un placer viajar muchísimo más a América Latina. De hecho, en mis planes estaba el comenzar a hacer muchos más vuelos de larga distancia. Sin embargo, la crisis del COVID me ha cortado bastante el plan. Por ahora, inicialmente seguiré volando por Europa y, hacia finales de verano, intentaré comenzar a volar mucho más largo radio que ahora.

I loved the report! Austrian's Dash 8 looks actually quite decent. Would you recommend LOT or Austrian on this route?
IFlyPlanes on Lot you only get water and a Little Neapolitan wafer in economy class
And on Austrian you get some salty crackers or a muffin. And a drink of your choice.
Even though I would recommend Lot because I‘ve flown this route quite often and the legroom on the Lot 737 is way better and if you’re travelling in their new cabin the seats have a great recline and are very comfortable
I also personally prefer Lot in any kind because on all of my Austrian flights (about 15-20) the crew wasn‘t nice and pretty rude
And on Lot I had about 12 flights and the crew was very nice
And Lot is way cheaper
But honestly if you just wanna get from A to B and you don’t care about how comfortable the seats are on a 1:20 hour Flight I would take Ryanair or Wizz their tickets cost about 20-40 € one way
And Lot and Austrian cost about twice the price!

What Maxim said is more or less the situation. However, my personal decision would be to take always Austrian before LOT. I've said it already sometimes, in my opinion, Austrian has the best economy class for European flights, especially with the addition of this type of catering.
I don't know what is happening with LOT: they charge huge prices for a service that is the same as all others.
Ah! And LOT customer care... well... could be better. I had booked 7 flights for April: 1 with British Airways, 1 with TUI, 1 with Vueling, 2 with Air Baltic, 1 with Iberia Express and 1 with Ryanair. LOT was the only airline that didn't offer me the reimbursement of the money nor a voucher (which is the option I've chosen for all the others).
Anyway, I will continue to fly with LOT from time to time, mainly because I know there are people on the channel that love them, however, they are far from being my favourite airline.
@@OnBoardHD I do agree, Austrian look very good in Economy especially for Europe. I'm not sure why LOT is so expensive though, I don't have much say in this area though because I only really look for LHR-WAW flights in the summer time to see family, and they are usually the most competitive airline on the route (64 gbp instead of BA which went for 131 gbp) But I've already been on LOTs 737-800 a handful of times and it's not that great in my opinion, their 737 MAX is nicer. As for LOT customer care, I'm not sure why they really under-perform in this area, I've used it once and I can't complain but then again it completely depends on the reason for contacting the airline (Mine was because the website said there was some error but apparently my flight was booked, I contacted live chat and they confirmed it was booked). It's also quite sad that they didn't offer you a reimbursement but they apparently offer vouchers for flights with LOT. In my opinion you should contact them about this because it's quite disappointing paying for a flight you don't get to go on :)
I mean my flights on Lot and on Austrian where in the last few years in the summer season.
I didn’t need a reimbursement because all of my flights where on time and I didn‘t miss any of them. And it was before the Coronavirus.
The only bad things that I‘ve experienced were: A lost Bagage on Lot which came 3 days later.
And on Austrian a 1:30 hour delay on a flight from Vienna to Düsseldorf which was caused by Austrian.

Hay algunos aeropuertos que tienen algunas puertas diseñadas para embarcar en aviones de este tamaño con una especie de pasarela. Yo hasta ahora sólo los vi en USA y supongo que estará pensado para que en invierno, con temperaturas muy por debajo de 0ºC, los pasajeros no tengan que andar por fuera.

Wow ive never been on a flight from an outfield position in warsaw! Interesting! Warsaw is still my favorite city/airport! I was in Vienna with a Dash 8 before (But from LUX with Luxair) and .. meh i didnt like it that much. Arrival was ok, but the return flight.. so much delay, such a long walk to gate then bus transfer.. Luxair crew was nice but vienna airport.. i think there are better airports. Do you have plans on checking LOT in the future (after corona times obv)?
This was my 3rd time already haha But the other 2 times I was flying with Wizzair, so in those cases is normal. Luxair is an airline that I've never had the option fly with and I would like to try. Hopefully after the COVID...
I have already 1 flight with LOT on the channel, on the B737 with a Go-Around included. I have more flights with LOT recorded. I will definitely upload them, but since they are on the route Vienna-Warsaw-Vienna, I'm putting some time before videos so people don't get oversaturated with the route :)
@@OnBoardHD Luxair is good. Nothing special but when u think about the country size behind it, it is actually fine! Lux airport is funny. It's like BGY, little airport.
Ah i understand that. Sad for me as i am big fan of lot! :D I fly Fra waw most of the time. Str waw too. I prefer it over Lufthansa so i try flying lot when i have the chance. Maybe connect through Frankfurt or cologne if u plan your routes after covid! It's nice!

@@OnBoardHD Ah cool! STR is a nice small airport, going to waw, I prefer this over FRA! :D So yeah will be curious about it! Lufthansa, I think, would be ranked infront of LOT if I would have ever used them on a comparable Long range. But my only comparison comes from FRA / WAW / FRA. Maybe they use older planes there, maybe short range service in Lot is better, i dont know. But from that comparison on that route.. its Lot for me! :)
Im a travel agent. sadly it doesnt look good for covid to end soon. :( Looks bad for travels, looks bad for our customers.. and at some point, looks bad for my agency :/

But we have already some little lights at the end of the tunnel: Wizzair, for example, started flying yesterday from Budapest some regular flights. Let's see how they do and other airlines may start doing it as well...
Austrian is a small but good full service carrier. That breakfast looked amazing
Mmm It's not so small as many people may think. Right now they 80 airplanes, so they are anything but not small hehe Anyway, the service they offer in their European Economy class is one of the best (if not the best one) I've seen.
@@OnBoardHD once this covid 19 situation is ready, I'd suggest you try Air Malta, which I use to travel to Berlin Tegel and London Heathrow and can be sometimes cheaper than Ryanair due to free hand luggage

@@OnBoardHD in Spain they travel to Malága. I used them between Malta, London Heathrow, Berlin, Zurich and Catania (MLA-CTA only 30 mins)

I Liked the Danube Crossing! Btw i flew with Austrian in 2008 from Belgrade to Geneva and in 2010 from Geneva to Belgrade (ofc via Vienna). PS At this time there wasn't any direct flight between Belgrade and Geneva

Great report on an Aircraft that soon for Austrian will be history, as they're removing all their Dash 8's. They were being retired anyway, but Austrian have sped this up.

I’ve just been rebooked onto my first Austrian flight by SWISS because they cancelled my flight from London to Zurich. What are the chances of me being able to make my 35 minute connection at VIE after arriving from LHR and leaving for ZRH?

I think it will be difficult, but not impossible.
As soon as you go out of the jetway into the main terminal building (not the first little escalators you will find first, but the building itself) go all the way to the dutyfree, cross it. At the end you will see the securiry control. Before getting into it, to the right, you will see the stairs to go up to gates G. That's your way to London.
Of course, check with the airport signs, but that's the most possible way you will follow.

Desde que Wizzair entró en la ruta supongo que tanto a LOT como a Austrian les ha comido la tostada. La verdad es que las veces que fui con Wizzair, en A321 y lleno. Sin embargo, los precios de LOT y Austrian tampoco son muy elevados en determinadas frecuencias del día... y el servicio de Austrian, sin duda alguna, le da mil vueltas tanto a Wizzair como a LOT.

I like both turboprops. However, as UA-camr, the Dash8 offers me the landing gear view, which is super unique... so I would choose the Dash hehe

My last flight before COVID was the one I have on the channel with the WIZZAIR A321NEO from Vienna to Warsaw. New aviation will appear after COVID crisis. Hopefully, something better or, at least, as good as before...

They want an A320 fleet for the short and medium-range and B777/B787 for long-range. =/
