Double Dragon 3 (NES) - Mission 1 USA Streets Theme (All Instrument Cover)

- Double Dragon 3 was released for the NES in North America in February of 1991, which has a bad rep, some deserved, some not so much, but one thing's for certain, the soundtrack is quite good! This is a cover from the streets segment of the first mission, taking place in the United States, has a vaguely rock sounding song with a prominent triplet feel, and lots of harmony.
For the main part of the theme, there's a pedal point melody. I'm not sure what the composer's thought process was on this melody as it's kind of two finger easy on keyboard, extremely tough on guitar, and not really something you hear in rock music. Nonetheless, it slaps hard! I decided to play it on guitar using tapping, and doubled it on keyboards. I also doubled the high harmony and low harmony on the 2nd and 3rd sections of the song. The third section of the song features a descending run in D major that was murder to play on guitar, I just barely was able to play it at the tempo I tracked which is about 30 bpm slower than the song is on the game!
For recording, I pretty much used my usual setup of double tracked guitars on the Fender Cybertwin with an sm57, direct in bass, and drums with standard mic configuration. I cracked out the Yamaha PSR-282 for keyboards using the squarewave sound to double the tapped guitar, and sawtooth for the remaining doubles.

I have never played any Double dragon games.
Just the DD and Battletoads, but man, I love the level 1 theme from the first game, and now!!! Now man, we are talking. This cover is insane, Double Dragon surely has incredible soundtracks.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed, this tune was crazy to play, that one lead line on the turnaround is right on the edge of what I can play! The Double Dragon soundtracks are pretty legendary, the 1st and 2nd one on the NES have some particularly classic tunes, highly recommended!

Thanks! I think recording so regularly is doing what I'd hope it'd do when I started the channel and force me to practice more. I think the practice I'm getting mixing songs is really helping too!
