Two semicircles have been placed inside a rectangle, Find the area of the Green Shaded Region

This video presents a beautiful geometry puzzle, 'Setting Sun, Rising Moon' by Catriona Shearer and gives a simple yet elegant solution to it. The question which presents two semicircles tangent to each other placed inside a rectangle asks what fraction of the rectangle is shaded. The solution makes use of the two tangent theorem and area of rectangle and triangle to solve it.

Wow, excellent question. One minor flaw: Although the picture implies that line AM is tangent to both semicirles, it needs to be stated explicitly. Otherwise, the answer becomes arbitrary.
