I remember listening to Maestro Kim's semifinal round when it was live broadcast and being put in a trance as soon as he began the D 960. It still moves me to tears whenever I listen to it.
Amazing musician. Wow. Love his crystal clear and deep playing.
I'm a big fan of him. He is a really talented performer, i expecially like his Schumann pieces.
His Mendelssohn gives me GOOSE BUMPS!!
Very mature playing
Shimmering!
Kapustin was brilliant!
BRAVO!!!
🥇🥇🥇
cant really get up to this so beautiful music
excellent, I enjoyed it lot, very delicate sound and professional performance!
Шуберт просто блестящий!
너무 잘치시네
Wow!
I was disappointed but not surprised that Dasol Kim wasn't in the top finalists. Performing this famous sonata in competitions is always a huge risk. This long masterpiece, which contains turbulence, nostalgia, and acceptance, is incredibly difficult to play not much technically but musically to achieve its haunting quality-frozen loneliness of the human condition like Schubert's tragedy at the end of his life. Very few artists can deliver this piece with such a high musical caliber.
But what if the performance of the D 960 was not only convincingly played, but the best performance of it since Artur Schnabel?
@@MichaelLu Actually, Kim sounded better in the acoustic Bass Performance Hall than on UA-cam (I was there!). Some listeners like his rendition whereas others don't. There is no right or wrong here, just personal preference. Anyway, in piano competitions, only the jurors' opinions are matter.
His Kapustin playing was highly questionable. He was really pulling around the tempo a lot and doing superfluous things with it.
통통한것도 괜찮네요?!ㅋ
Thank you, the Mendelssohn is wonderful!!
